As everyone knows, all good things must come to an end.

And with that, EyeCon announces the dates for their 8th and final convention focusing on two of the CW’s biggest hit shows, “The Vampire Diaries” and its highly successful spin-off, “The Originals”. The convention will be held October 9-11, 2015 at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel in Downtown Atlanta.

EyeCon conventions are known for their smaller attendance size, which creates a more intimate atmosphere for guests and fans alike. Events include Q&A panels, autograph and photo op sessions, exclusive parties and dining events, as well as a dealers room.

So far, there are two guests confirmed to appear: Joseph Morgan, who plays original vampire/hybrid Klaus on “The Originals” (and in crossover episodes of “The Vampire Diaries”), and Joshua Butler, one of the directors of the show. EyeCon is known for having a full roster of guests (usually about 7 or 8), so additional guest announcements are expected.

Tickets for the event went on sale earlier today and range from $30.00 (Friday general admission) all the way up to $795.00 (Diamond Weekend Admission, which includes pretty much everything for the weekend). Ticket prices and packages can be found here.

Happy New Year, and let’s try this thing again…

So, about that whole “I’m going to be better about updating my blog in 2012” thing that never happened…well, let’s just say that I overestimated my ability to not let real-life issues get in the way of my blogging, podcasting, etc…in other words, all of the fun stuff in my life got put on hold! ūüė¶¬† To those of you who have continued to encourage me while patiently waiting for me to come back to my blog, thank you so much for your support, it means so much!!! I am determined to make 2013 a better year for me by doing ALL of the things that I love, and that includes the re-birth of the Grown-Up Fangirl.

So, just a few updates on what I’ve been catching up on, and then we’ll see where things go from here.

BOOKS: I ended 2012 with a resolve to do a lot more reading this year, and I literally began immediately after making that decision. Since New Year’s weekend, I’ve immersed myself in the young adult genre – completing all five books (so far) in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, and I’ve finished Book 1 in The Caster Chronicles, “Beautiful Creatures”; I’ll begin reading Book 2, “Beautiful Darkness”, sometime tonight and will probably finish Book 3, “Beautiful Chaos” by the weekend. Both sets of reads were prompted by movies trailers for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and Beautiful Creatures, which I saw during the previews for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2. I’m not going to post any reviews yet, but I will eventually get around to adding them both here and on my Goodreads page. However, I will say that aside from a few minor irritations, I am enjoying both series immensely.

TV:¬†Aside from episodes that have aired this month, I am completely caught up on Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, and The Vampire Diaries. I still think someone should start a petition to HBO and let them know that these months-long hiatuses for “Game of Thrones” and “True Blood” are agonizing!! Season 3 of SyFy’s “Being Human” has started, and I plan to watch that this weekend. Other than that, there aren’t any other shows I’m actively watching, although I have quite a few (Scandal, Deception) that have been recommended and are on my “To Watch” list.

MOVIES: Sad to say, the aforementioned mentioned “real life” issues kept me from the theaters and without cable TV for 2012. I only saw a few movies: The Woman in Black (loved it), The Avengers (my birthday weekend, and LOVED IT!!!!), and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 (I DID see that one three times, and loved it as well). BUT, there are so many highly anticipated movies coming out this year (Iron Man 3, A Good Day to Die Hard, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, etc.), that I am going to make it a priority to get to the theaters!! Entertainment Weekly has a pretty good starter list for upcoming films, and I’m excited about quite a few of the films listed, but I’ll make a more detailed post next week.

CONVENTIONS: 2012 marked a first for me in terms of conventions: for the first time since I began attending in 2007, I missed Dragon*Con. Anyone who has been following my blogs for years knows that Dragon*Con is a MUST for me every year, and it really hurt to miss it. However, I am determined NOT to let that happen again, so I will bring you updates as usual. (SIDE NOTE: Writing this entry prompted me to go and check the guest list, and I’m glad I did! Kelly Hu – one of my MAJOR girl crushes – is listed as a guest! Woot woot!!!)

One of my other favorite local conventions is returning this spring as well. EyeCon will invade Atlanta once again with their fan convention for the CW-hit show, “The Vampire Diaries”, March 2-4. The convention will take place at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel in Downtown Atlanta, and will feature games, panels, Celebrity Q&As and Photo Op Sessions, Celebrity Autograph Sessions, a “Casino Royale” Party, a Banquet with the Stars, and a Haunted Masquerade Celebrity Party! As of this writing, featured guests will include Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore), Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert), Nathaniel Buzolic (original vampire Kol), and Trent Ford (Trevor the vampire). For more information, visit the EyeCon website.

I guess that’s enough catching up…for now. Feel free to add this blog to your subscriptions, and if you like this blog, be sure to check out some of my friends at the Sci-Fi Party Line website and podcast.

Eyecon Vampire Diaries returning to Atlanta; Ian Somerhalder first guest to confirm

What’s Halloween without a vampire or two? Lucky for Atlanta fans of the locally-filmed hit series, “The Vampire Diaries”, that’s a question they won’t have to answer. October 26-28 will see the return of the Eyecon: Vampire Diaries convention to the downtown Atlanta area. Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the series, has been confirmed at the first guest; he has made limited appearances at previous events but this will be the first appearance as a regular guest.

According to the official website, activities for the weekend will include games, panels, Celebrity Q&As and Photo Op Sessions, Celebrity Autograph Sessions, a Salvatore Soiree Party, a Banquet with the Stars, and a Haunted Halloween Celebrity Party.

Ticket sales will begin promptly at noon on June 21 at this link. According to the website, the first attendee to purchase a Platinum Admission will free admission to the Banquet, PLUS a free admission to the private autograph signing. Additional details can be found on the site; don’t delay in purchasing your tickets! I’ve personally attended two of Eyecon’s events (the first Supernatural convention in 2008, and the first Vampire Diaries convention in 2011) and take it from me, you do NOT want to miss out on this experience. The smaller setting makes for a more intimate experience with the stars, and when you have unexpected guests (for instance, Candice Accola (Caroline) and Matt Davis (Alaric) crashed the most recent event this past March) you’re bound to have a good time!¬†

Guest updates will be posted as details are confirmed.

New Additions to Eyecon:Vampire Diaries Convention in Atlanta

Well it looks like just about the entire population of Mystic Falls is coming to Atlanta!

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries, the Orlando-based fan convention for the popular CW series, has announced a few new guests that will appear at the October convention, scheduled for the weekend before Halloween at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel .

Ian Somerhalder, who plays the older Salvatore brother Damon, has been confirmed to appear at the convention on Saturday, October 29. His appearance coincides with the first ever Ian Somerhalder Foundation event, “Empoweresqe“, which according to the website, seeks to “unite empowered women who will forever change the world”.

Joseph Morgan, who joined the cast in Season 2 as the much feared vampire/werewolf hybrid Klaus, has also been confirmed to appear. Fans of the show will remember that Klaus is the vampire who has been hunting for Katherine for centuries, and has now seemingly gained control over Stefan in exchange for saving Damon’s life. Morgan’s onscreen brother, Joseph Gillies, was confirmed to appear at the convention in early June.¬†Credit: IMDBGino Pesi, who played Klaus’s loyal warlock Maddox, has also been added to the guest list.

Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen) will have plenty of ladies to keep him company during the convention! In addition to Katerina Graham (who plays Jeremy’s current love interest Bonnie), Kayla Ewell and Malese Jow – who play ex-girlfriends Vicki Donovan and Anna, respectively – have been added to the guest list. Both women, who were killed off towards the end of the premier season of the show, shocked viewers (and Jeremy too!) by re-appearing on the show during the finale for season two.¬†

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 will be held in Downtown Atlanta the weekend of Oct 28-30 at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. Events will include a¬†Celebrity Q&A, photo-op and autograph sessions, a Celebrity Banquet, a 60s themed dance (similar to the one in the season 2 episode ‚ÄúThe Last Dance‚ÄĚ), and a Mystic Falls Halloween party. There will also be fan panels, a dealer/vendor room, and a concert by musical guests¬†The Nova Echo.

Ticket prices and sales for Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 are available on the website at¬†this¬†link. ‚ÄúThe Vampire Diaries‚ÄĚ will return for season 3 at 8pm on September 15.

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 adds another guest

The guest list continues to grow for Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2, with another young cast member added for what is sure to be a fun event in Atlanta.

Bryton James, who played young warlock Luka in season 2, has been added to the guest list. He joins stars Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine), Kat Graham (Bonnie) and Daniel Gillies (Elijah) for the three-day event, which will take place Halloween weekend at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel in Downtown Atlanta. This event will mark the second convention specific to “The Vampire Diaries” TV show, which has been filmed locally since its inception. Eyecon is most widely known for conventions based on the TV shows “Supernatural” and “True Blood” and for The Twilight Saga film series.

James joined the show in season 2 as newcomer Luka Martin, the son of a powerful warlock who was working with evil (?) vampire Elijah in order to secure release for his daughter Greta,¬†whom he thought was being held captive by Elijah’s brother Klaus. Luka set out to get close to fellow witch Bonnie in an effort to get close to Elena (who Klaus was after), and in doing so added a brief triangle-like element to the Bonnie/Jeremy relationship that was developing. However, things didn’t quite work out well for Luka or the rest of the Martin family.

James can also be seen on the daytime soap “The Young and the Restless”, playing the character of Devon Hamilton. Fans of the 90’s sitcom “Family Matters” will also remember him as little Richie Crawford, cousin of the Winslow kids.

Eyecon’s events will¬†include a Celebrity Q&A, photo-op and autograph sessions, a Celebrity Banquet, a 60s themed dance (similar to the one in the season 2 episode ‚ÄúThe Last Dance‚ÄĚ), and a Mystic Falls Halloween party. There will also be fan panels, a dealer/vendor room, and a concert by musical guests The Nova Echo.

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 will take place at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel October 28-30, 2011. Tickets levels and pricing information can be found at this link, and can now be purchased online via the official website.

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 Adds an Original to the Guest List

Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 is beginning to shape up pretty nicely in terms of celeberity guests, as actor Daniel Gillies has now been confirmed to join castmates Nina Dobrev and Katerina Graham when the convention descends upon Atlanta Halloween weekend.

Gillies plays the-Original-who-just-won’t-die vampire Elijah, who was last seen being killed by his powerful, hybrid brother Klaus in the season 2 finale. He will participate in¬†a Q&A, photo op and autograph sessions, Banquet and Sixties Dance, according to the Eyecon website.

Katerina Graham Added to Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2 Convention

Source: CW

The ladies are taking the lead for Eyecon: Vampire Diaries 2, as Katerina Graham (Bonnie Bennett) joins the guest list for the popular fan convention, which returns to Atlanta in October.

Bonnie Bennett, a witch in Mystic Falls and best friend to Elena (Nina Dobrev) has found herself an unwilling ally to the vampires, in an effort to save Elena from whatever peril she happens to find herself in. Whether it’s original vampires/hybrids, werewolves, other witches or humans with bad intentions, Bonnie has evolved from a simple witch who can do minor tricks into a force to be reckoned with.
