Twilight stars the big winners at the MTV Movie Awards; Tom Felton wins for Harry Potter

The MTV Movie Awards are over, and The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the big winner tonight, winning the following categories:

  • Best Female Performance – Kristen Stewart
  • Best Kiss – Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson
  • Best Male Performance – Robert Pattinson
  • Global Superstar – Robert Pattinson
  • Best Movie – The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Twilight‘s Anna Kendrick also won an award, for Best Breakthrough Performance for her role in Up in the Air.

And in Harry Potter news, Tom Felton won the award for Best Villain for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Just a reminder for your folks that tonight is the night of the MTV Movie Awards. Several favorites are nominated, including Harry Potter and Twilight, and exclusive clips from both movies will be show tonight.

The awards show begins at 9m on MTV, and for those who are interested, I’ll be talking about the show on my Twitter account. Come join me!

Potterheads and Twi-Hards, have you done your voting yet? NO?? Well what are you waiting for?

Voting for the MTV Movie Awards ends tomorrow, June 5.  Harry Potter and Twilight fans have several categories to choose from:

Harry Potter nominees:

(Let me insert my Rupert/Ron two-cents in here to say that I am appalled that Rupert was not nominated in the “Best Male Performance” category, because he certainly had one of the best performances in the film!) Off my soapbox now and moving on to my Twilight folks…

Twilight Nominees:

Tune in to MTV this Sunday, June 6 at 9pm EST to find out the winners, and to also view exclusive clips from both upcoming movies, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 (due November 19) and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (due June 30).

Nominee Voting now open for 2010 MTV Movie Awards

Tired of your favorite movies and actors constantly getting overlooked for awards and recognition? Well, here’s your chance to have your say!! MTV has opened up voting for the nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which will be broadcast on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm. The voting can be found here, and will close on April 9th, so hurry over and cast your votes! Side Note: You must be registered at MTV.com in order to vote.

And for a personal Grown-Up Fangirl mention, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is nominated in five of the categories:

  • Best Movie
  • Global Superstar (Dan Radcliffe)
  • Best Male Performance (Dan Radcliffe)
  • Best Female Performance (Emma Watson)
  • Best Villain (Tom Felton)

While I am quite disappointed that Rupert Grint didn’t get recognized, yet again, for his comical and brilliant performance in this film, I am glad to see so many nominations for the film itself. Good luck to them all!
