00:00:25
What's up, hybrids? Welcome back to another episode
00:00:27
of the Phantom Hybrid Podcast. This is Hanukkah and I'm here
00:00:30
with Anthony and we are here to discuss Season 2, Episode 2 of
00:00:36
The Last of Us. Raise my box of tissues when I
00:00:41
need. Them.
00:00:42
So are we going to look, are we going to save that to the last
00:00:45
or are we going to go on ahead and RIP the Band-Aid off?
00:00:48
We we should just RIP the Band-Aid off.
00:00:51
I can't believe they didn't even give us half a season before
00:00:56
they they dropped the Abbey killing Joel bomb.
00:01:01
Well, I think, I don't know, I think maybe they're like most
00:01:06
people watch this show, probably no.
00:01:10
So there's no reason to just be around the Bush just because the
00:01:15
same people will complain. Why didn't y'all just get it
00:01:17
over with instead of leading up to it?
00:01:20
Because. Those of us who didn't play the
00:01:23
game, we needed time. Even though some of us knew what
00:01:26
was happening, we needed time to wrap our mind around it and I
00:01:32
just don't feel like they gave us enough time.
00:01:36
Yeah, well, what I thought they were going to do, like I really
00:01:40
didn't think they were going to kill him in the second episode
00:01:42
because in a game, Abby is a playable character.
00:01:46
So I thought, well, maybe they will start like the episode 1
00:01:51
and the Episode 2 would just start with Abby's character and
00:01:54
we'll follow her journey. Right.
00:01:57
Up until, you know, at least towards the end of the season,
00:02:02
we get her coming to Jackson and then we would have last night's
00:02:07
episode. I thought that that's what they
00:02:09
were going to do to kind of build up Abby's character for
00:02:13
us. But you know.
00:02:15
Well, I think what they what they ended up doing is they they
00:02:21
went on ahead and got that part over with.
00:02:24
So now I think the way that they've done things in the past,
00:02:28
we'll probably go back and see a little bit more of like
00:02:31
flashbacks of her character, probably while she's training in
00:02:34
Seattle. But I think they went on ahead
00:02:38
and did that. So we could also see Ellie's
00:02:40
journey because Ellie is about to kill a bitch do.
00:02:45
You. Do you understand the words that
00:02:49
are coming out of my mouth? Ellie is about, oh, I never, I
00:02:55
never changed my name. I was just Ellie is about to
00:02:59
kill a bitch. They have a woke in the cracker.
00:03:02
Man, I asked, I asked Mike, my son, earlier today because I
00:03:07
couldn't remember if he played the game before.
00:03:09
And I said, do you play The Last of Us?
00:03:11
So he just looked at me. He said we had this conversation
00:03:14
during Season 1. I said I can't remember, that
00:03:16
was so long ago. So he was like, yeah, he was
00:03:18
like asking me if I play that. It's like asking me if I play
00:03:21
Red Dead. What is?
00:03:23
It red dead. Redemption.
00:03:24
Redemption, yes. So I said, oh OK, I said, so
00:03:29
this episode I'm watching because I'd paused the episode
00:03:32
my second watch through to run him to the store real quick.
00:03:36
I said this was that episode. He said, Oh yeah, no y'all can
00:03:40
have that bullshit. He was like, I had to play
00:03:45
through that shit. I'm not no, I don't need to see
00:03:48
it. I was, when I say I was watching
00:03:53
this and as as the events of the episode are unfolding, I'm kind
00:03:59
of sort of sitting in my head like, they're not going to do
00:04:01
this yet. Because I really thought the way
00:04:03
they were going to do this character, especially after Joel
00:04:06
saved her, I thought there might be a little bit of conflict
00:04:10
there, like a little bit of, Oh, well, he did save my life.
00:04:14
And then I thought, OK, well, what we're going to do is we're
00:04:17
going to, we're going to go back with him to Jackson.
00:04:20
We're going to help out with whatever.
00:04:22
And then we're going to kill him.
00:04:23
Like we're going to let him, you know, have him let us in.
00:04:27
I thought it was going to be one of those elaborate scams.
00:04:29
But I will say this for Abby, she's single minded.
00:04:31
She was like, no, fuck that shit.
00:04:32
I'm not about to, I'm not about to kiss up to him.
00:04:35
This man killed my dad. I'm about to kill him.
00:04:37
So I, I give her her respect for that.
00:04:41
But I I just, I wasn't expecting it to get to that climax in this
00:04:47
episode. Like, I fully thought, OK, like
00:04:50
if I was writing it and that's what I wanted to do, when she
00:04:54
pulled the shot and shot him in the leg, I would have went to
00:04:57
black and then come back up to her like five years ago.
00:05:02
Well. We we've.
00:05:04
Done trying to track him down, like go through the process of
00:05:09
of figuring out where he is and and how much time it actually
00:05:12
took him to do it. Yeah, that would have been good
00:05:15
for at least three or 4 episodes.
00:05:17
So I think we'll probably still get some of that because I do
00:05:20
know that even though can't you say, even though Joel is dead,
00:05:25
can't. Even say words.
00:05:31
I don't think Pedro's time on the show is over yet because
00:05:36
there were scenes that they showed in the promos, the, you
00:05:42
know, before the season started and just different little clips
00:05:45
that we've seen where like there's a scene with him and the
00:05:50
therapist in in a cafe having coffee.
00:05:54
There's a scene with him and Ellie having a confrontation.
00:05:56
So I don't think we're done seeing him yet.
00:05:59
We just know that present day Joel is gone.
00:06:05
Let me tell you, I can't even once my mind wrapped itself
00:06:09
around the fact that this was actually happening.
00:06:13
This is 1 of this is one of the the few times that although I
00:06:19
was devastated, I could not cry. I just sat there watching the
00:06:23
scream like you fucking bitch. I mean, that's all I could do.
00:06:28
I couldn't even cry because it's like I've known that this was
00:06:31
going to happen. I knew it was going to happen in
00:06:33
season 2 because that's all the gamers talk about is the whole
00:06:38
thing with Abby and Joel. And yeah, Oh yeah.
00:06:40
She becomes a playable character because she, you know, and she
00:06:42
kills Joel. I was like, who the hell asked
00:06:45
for that? But I was like, OK, it's, it's
00:06:48
an interesting twist. It's the net start.
00:06:50
You know, I, I felt, I felt a lot of Game of Thrones vibes
00:06:53
with this episode a lot. But I just.
00:06:59
But so you become Abby and and Ellie is the monster.
00:07:05
You know what? And and and OK.
00:07:10
And that and that, that is the that's the thing about about
00:07:13
being happy. You have this thing.
00:07:15
You don't really know what's happening.
00:07:16
There's let me go for you. You have no idea you're being
00:07:20
stalked. Yeah, it's crazy.
00:07:21
Yeah, I've heard about that. And you know, I, I will say
00:07:24
this. If I take a step back, if I take
00:07:28
my emotion out of it, if I take the fact that I have been
00:07:31
watching Joe's journey, you know, for the whole season 2
00:07:36
episodes that he was there, I could probably say, OK, I could
00:07:39
understand what Abby did. I really could.
00:07:42
You know, that's your, that was your dad that he gunned down and
00:07:47
you still don't. I mean, I guess The thing is you
00:07:50
still don't know why he fucking did it.
00:07:52
And I understand you don't care. It doesn't matter to you.
00:07:56
But just like you are coming to get vengeance for your dad, he
00:08:00
was doing that for his surrogate child.
00:08:04
And I was like. Yeah, but The thing is, after
00:08:09
you saw that town, after you saw how many people were there, you
00:08:13
think they were just going to let that slide, You know what
00:08:17
I'm saying? Like violence begets violence,
00:08:21
revenge is like digging your own grief.
00:08:24
Oh and then she she about to have not only you, you think you
00:08:28
think Tommy not about to come after this bitch that killed his
00:08:30
brother? And that's the thing if we we
00:08:33
sometimes overlook the fact that remember when he said he and his
00:08:37
brother he used to do? Some do terrible things.
00:08:40
He used to do some things you. You really look what cracking
00:08:44
are you talking about in your screen name because both of
00:08:47
think of 2. Both of them.
00:08:50
And I have a feeling Maria's going to try to talk him down,
00:08:52
but no Boo Boo. He's not going to be able to.
00:08:54
That's my Big Brother, and the fact that they're dragging him
00:08:57
back and he's not even going to be recognizable because of what
00:09:01
she did to his face. Nah, ain't no.
00:09:06
But I do like how well like I do see why the showrunners did it
00:09:13
his body like that. So there will be no question,
00:09:18
like if they just left it at the theme singing on his neighbor,
00:09:21
maybe she saved them, Maybe he might be a chance.
00:09:24
He still like, Nope, he's gone. Yeah, he gone.
00:09:28
They they showed us the body. He gone, he's wrapped up being
00:09:33
drugged. Back and and you see.
00:09:36
You see the? They they.
00:09:39
Took care of the head so that he, you know, nothing could
00:09:43
because of course they already know they're about to go back to
00:09:46
a town. That's probably not the way that
00:09:50
they left it because of all the fire and stuff.
00:09:52
Because the OK, the the other crazy part of this episode,
00:09:59
like, like you couldn't just kill the man and let us deal
00:10:05
with the peace. You had to have us stress the
00:10:07
whole fucking episode because I thought Tommy was going to get
00:10:10
it in this episode. Really.
00:10:16
And for some reason, I wasn't too too much worried about
00:10:18
Maria, especially after Tommy distracted the Bloater.
00:10:24
After after all that crap happening.
00:10:28
I I wasn't, I wasn't too much worried about her.
00:10:31
I think the emotional impact would really be if something
00:10:34
happened to Tommy, which the Tommy was like this close is
00:10:37
close. Several times I was worried
00:10:40
about Seth. I mean, that bloater was right
00:10:44
in front of him about to swipe down and then not.
00:10:48
Those lucky motherfucker. What was interesting was the
00:10:53
other flamethrower guys. I was like, are they running
00:10:58
away? Yes they are.
00:11:00
Yes they are, Yes they did. And he stood.
00:11:03
There like I'm gonna do this and then those muffles, right, I
00:11:07
don't. Think I can't say I blame them
00:11:09
'cause when you see that coming at you, especially if you
00:11:12
weren't on the wall and saw what it was, because if I had been on
00:11:19
that wall, I'd have been, I'd have been shitting myself.
00:11:21
I'm not lying because you you hear them talk at the beginning
00:11:27
of this episode. In the last episode, you know,
00:11:30
they've had clickers getting closer to the town.
00:11:33
They talked about it earlier in this episode.
00:11:36
They were like, yeah, so we found some dead clickers in the
00:11:40
snow and then a group of 30 of them came from up under them.
00:11:45
They were using the dead ones for insulation.
00:11:47
I was like, oh, y'all from the y'all about to give us some shit
00:11:51
in this episode again. I wasn't expecting it so soon.
00:11:55
I was not expecting what came out of the ground the way that
00:12:02
it did. And I was like, I should Episode
00:12:05
5 last season. They got me with that one.
00:12:08
I should have known they were gonna be on some bullshit with
00:12:10
this one too. I was, I was thinking they were
00:12:17
prepared for a large group of of clickers.
00:12:22
They weren't prepared for a horde that.
00:12:25
Was an army. That was an army.
00:12:28
That was a horde. That was a lot.
00:12:30
They were not prepared for that. If it was like 100 and 5200,
00:12:36
they've been all right. But I swear it had to be 1000
00:12:40
it. Had to be I mean, Jesse kind of
00:12:43
said it earlier in the episode and you know, we kind of took it
00:12:46
as a joke like ha ha, Ellie did too.
00:12:49
But then when you see them coming out of the ground, like
00:12:51
it's playing in the background now Abby just came to end.
00:12:55
Also, all of this is your fault. All of this is your fault.
00:13:00
You should stay to ass put, but you want to go try to be
00:13:04
whatever it is. You see these two P.
00:13:07
You know, you you see these two people on patrol.
00:13:09
You don't even know who these people are.
00:13:12
It just so happened to be Joel. But even even with that.
00:13:18
I don't know because it happened the same time the dude cracked
00:13:22
another one of those pipes. But see, that's why they started
00:13:26
turning away and. Yeah, and he pulled out the
00:13:29
thing, but I think they would have come out of the ground even
00:13:32
he when he did that. Yeah, they were.
00:13:35
Yeah, But I. Think they were going to come
00:13:37
out of the ground anyway. Yeah, but.
00:13:41
Because he did not. It wasn't like, 'cause last time
00:13:45
they cracked them up and they didn't mess with it.
00:13:47
This time he did again and started trying to pull it in.
00:13:49
Was pulling. It out because I don't think
00:13:51
when they cracked it the first time, I don't think the tendrils
00:13:54
were there initially. I think kind of like they were.
00:13:57
They were 'cause they, they were 'cause they moved around and
00:14:00
went back in. That was at night though.
00:14:02
They cracked the pipe earlier in the day.
00:14:04
Early in the day, yeah. Yeah.
00:14:05
So I think the tendrils probably made their way out to where we
00:14:10
saw them that night, but they weren't there that day.
00:14:13
Because if they if, if the tendrils had been in that pipe
00:14:16
that day, they would not have had no New Year's Eve
00:14:19
celebration. I guarantee that they would have
00:14:23
been, they would have been dealing with different type of
00:14:24
fireworks, like those gas barrels, which I was laughing
00:14:28
when the gas barrels came, 'cause I was like I hit Anthony
00:14:32
in my head. What the hell?
00:14:32
They get all that gas 'cause that was a lot of gas.
00:14:36
If that. Was gas.
00:14:37
If it was gas it could have been some other flam flammable
00:14:39
liquid. I mean, we don't know, but.
00:14:44
OK, yeah, it could have been bacon grease.
00:14:45
So the bacon grease they had saved up.
00:14:47
I mean, it, it could be something, but yeah, it was like
00:14:55
when when we see the the start of the episode and you kind of
00:15:01
get the idea that this was somebody close.
00:15:03
Because I think in the last episode, I was thinking that her
00:15:06
connection was to Marlene because, you know, Marlene was
00:15:09
the prominent person in the Firefly.
00:15:11
So I just automatically so oh, there might have been a mother
00:15:14
figure or depending on how old, you know, could have been a
00:15:17
could have been a lover. I mean, in this kind of
00:15:20
environment, you might see a little more May December romance
00:15:24
type thing. I was like, OK, that must be
00:15:26
what it is. I never think about the fact
00:15:28
that the doctor could have been related to her, but it does
00:15:32
explain some of the conversation they had back at the graves when
00:15:36
they were like even if it was true about Ellie, there was
00:15:39
like, there's nothing we can do about it now because since and
00:15:42
she was like, don't it makes more sense now cuz she don't
00:15:45
want to hear about her dad being dead.
00:15:47
Like she sees the the evidence right there.
00:15:50
But when, when they wake up and they see the town, because you
00:15:56
know, when we, when we saw them in the last episode, it was
00:16:00
night time. They just saw a little bit of
00:16:02
the lights. They just thought, oh, OK, maybe
00:16:04
a few tents or whatever. They wake up and they see it's a
00:16:07
whole fucking city down there. They have to start rethinking
00:16:11
what they're going to do to the point where the, the guy, I
00:16:14
can't think of his name, but he's like, he tells the other
00:16:18
ones. He's like, yeah, my, my plan is
00:16:21
to convince her to let this go. And I was like, dude, that's
00:16:24
not, that's not about, that's not going to happen.
00:16:26
That's not about that. She might rethink some things
00:16:29
because like they said, they're looking at the town with the
00:16:32
binoculars and they're like, oh, they have fences, they have
00:16:37
guard towers. They only have four ways out and
00:16:40
all of them are blocked. I mean, you know, all of them
00:16:43
are guarded. They have dogs, they have all of
00:16:46
this. They got military people like
00:16:49
there's there's nothing you for. I don't care how much militia
00:16:52
training the five of you have, you are not going to take that
00:16:56
whole town. Right.
00:16:57
But if they had scouted just a little bit more and paid
00:17:01
attention, they have a pretty much an open door policy.
00:17:04
They they could have. Yeah, they.
00:17:06
Could have just went down there and he'd be like, hey, we didn't
00:17:09
know you guys were here. They was taking the man.
00:17:11
They just saw them and was like oh y'all have some training?
00:17:14
And that's what I thought was going to happen.
00:17:16
You know, I was like, yeah, that's that's an easy plan.
00:17:20
Figure out who everybody is, find out who Joe is.
00:17:24
Take a patrol with them. But the sad thing is Joe walked
00:17:27
right into her like, you know, even saved her because she she
00:17:33
was about to she was about to get got.
00:17:36
Yeah. But, and, and you know, spoiler,
00:17:40
for those of us who haven't played the game and you're not
00:17:42
going to play the game in the game, it was him and Tommy were
00:17:47
partnered up. So it was Tommy that was with
00:17:50
him. OK, yeah.
00:17:52
And I I did read something about that because they were like,
00:17:56
they like the fact that they changed it up between Tommy and
00:18:01
Dana so that Tommy was at the town and he was having his big
00:18:05
hero moment there. I was like, yeah, I kind of like
00:18:09
that better. Well, the main problem game the
00:18:13
players of the game had is that he when they were in the cabin,
00:18:19
he and Tommy called each other by their names, and that's how
00:18:24
she knew it was Joe. But knowing the two of them and
00:18:29
having done what they've done, it's more likely they wouldn't
00:18:33
have used their real names in front of people they didn't
00:18:36
know. Yeah.
00:18:37
Yeah. So that's why I think, and that
00:18:40
was one of the other reasons why they made the change with Dina,
00:18:42
because she was yelling his name out.
00:18:44
You didn't know he had someone with her as a you know.
00:18:48
So Abby overheard his name as opposed to to Tommy just saying
00:18:53
name out loud. Right, right.
00:18:56
And I thought about that too, like towards the end, once Ellie
00:19:02
finds them in the in the lodge and she comes in, you know, guns
00:19:05
blazing and she gets taken down and she's sitting there looking
00:19:08
at what they've done to him and and she kind of realizes what
00:19:11
they're going to do to him. You know, she's sitting there
00:19:13
telling him, get up, Joe, get up, Joe, get up.
00:19:17
And there was a, there was a part of me that really wanted
00:19:20
because at this point, Joel and Ellie are still estranged.
00:19:24
You know, this is literally New Year's Day.
00:19:27
This is the day after the whole party, the little fight that,
00:19:31
you know, the argument that they got into this is the next day.
00:19:34
So they're still estranged. I don't.
00:19:36
Well, we don't talk about that. I don't think so anymore.
00:19:42
I think they were, but she I think.
00:19:45
Because because he strung, he strung the guitar back.
00:19:48
He put it back in her room. He told them not to wake her up.
00:19:53
So she gets some rest. And the first thing she said
00:19:57
was, I want to go on patrol with Joel.
00:20:00
And then you know which one claw?
00:20:02
He said something about it. And she was like, no, Joel is
00:20:05
Joel and I'm me. And what you all see on the
00:20:08
outside is not necessarily what's going on between us.
00:20:11
I think she. I don't think.
00:20:13
So that Jesse would get off her ass about it because it's it's
00:20:19
the next day. They literally have not had time
00:20:23
to make up because. Yeah, but we have to we also,
00:20:27
but we also have to understand how the dynamics of their
00:20:30
relationship, right? He ain't that emotional of a
00:20:34
person who is when it comes to expressing outward emotions.
00:20:39
He's good at showing he's he, you know, his love language is
00:20:43
acts of service. Well, what we saw was that she
00:20:47
went, she went to her garage angry at him still.
00:20:50
And that's the last thing we see with with them together.
00:20:54
Right, but the first thing she asked for, I want to go on
00:20:56
patrol with Joel. I think she was trying to get
00:20:59
away from Jesse because she was feeling awkward because she
00:21:01
kissed Jesse's ex-girlfriend. No, because what she says after
00:21:06
that is all related to her and Joel and what's going on with
00:21:10
them. And she was, she was like very
00:21:12
serious about it. They didn't look like something
00:21:14
she was making up. And no, and I get that.
00:21:16
And I do believe that part of her does believe that.
00:21:19
Like, OK, you know what? He's him.
00:21:21
And I, me. And I mean, Jolene said the same
00:21:23
thing in the first episode when he was talking.
00:21:26
I forgot who he was talking to. I think he was talking to Dina.
00:21:29
It's like she's her and I, me and, you know, we'll figure this
00:21:33
out. It's almost like if you, I mean,
00:21:36
you're a parent, you know, there are times when your children are
00:21:38
mad at you and they don't want to talk to you or whatever.
00:21:41
And it's kind of like, OK, I don't want to talk to you.
00:21:45
I'm mad at you. I don't want to have anything to
00:21:47
do with you. But that doesn't mean that
00:21:50
anybody else can comment on that situation.
00:21:52
That doesn't mean that they can be like, oh, what's going on
00:21:55
with y'all and stuff? No, stay the fuck out of our
00:21:56
business. We, we got this.
00:21:58
However we handle it, we going to handle that.
00:22:01
But that's not for y'all to know.
00:22:04
And that's the way I took that. She was like, look, my, my, my
00:22:08
relationship with him is complicated, but but we're good.
00:22:12
And then when Jesse kept pushing, he was like, so y'all
00:22:16
made-up or whatever it was that she just kind of looked at him
00:22:18
like get out my business because it's really nobody else's
00:22:22
business in the town what the situation is with them.
00:22:26
And I'm going to say this too. I do believe that she knows what
00:22:32
he did to the fireflies. And I say that because during
00:22:36
the course of this episode, you know, there's a snowstorm that
00:22:38
comes in and they have to go take shelter in one of the
00:22:43
stores in the town that they're patrolling.
00:22:46
And it turns out that story is Eugene's store, the the
00:22:49
therapist's husband. And we do find out a little bit
00:22:52
about what happened to him in this particular episode.
00:22:56
He apparently got got bit, turned or started to turn and
00:23:01
Joel had to put him down. Jesse is making that comment,
00:23:06
talking to Ellie. And he was like, man, that's,
00:23:08
you know, that's messed up. You go fight in Vietnam, you
00:23:12
fight a whole war, and then you die from something like this.
00:23:17
But it couldn't be helped. And the look on Ellie's face and
00:23:20
she was just like, yeah. And I was like, she knows what
00:23:25
Joel did. Yeah, from that mistake in the
00:23:28
game, he tells her. What?
00:23:29
He eventually comes clean, He tells her.
00:23:32
So we'll probably see that. In a, we'll probably see it in
00:23:34
the flashback. Yeah, in a future episode.
00:23:36
That's why I was like, I don't think he's, I don't think he's
00:23:39
done done. But, you know, I was, I was just
00:23:43
like, there was a moment in that in that scene where she's
00:23:50
watching him about to die. And I just wanted something
00:23:56
between the two of them. Like, I don't know, like me, you
00:24:00
know, I'm like the the sappy romantic.
00:24:04
I need to have like closure and, and all this other stuff.
00:24:08
Like I wanted her to maybe call him dad one time.
00:24:11
I wanted him to kind of just be like Ellie, you know, or just
00:24:15
say her name. And then I thought about I was
00:24:18
like, if the Fireflies heard him say her name, they will
00:24:21
understand why he did what he did.
00:24:25
And then also they would probably understand why he ain't
00:24:27
said nothing because he could have easily defended himself
00:24:31
when Abby was asking all the questions.
00:24:33
And he just sat there like OK, you going to kill me?
00:24:36
It it's not going to matter what I say.
00:24:38
But if they had said anything other than what was said with
00:24:43
her calling him out, I feel like if Abby would have known who
00:24:47
Ellie was, if she had realized that connection, she would have
00:24:53
transferred her anger onto Ellie to him.
00:24:55
Be like, you're the whole reason all of this started.
00:24:58
If you hadn't have been there, then he wouldn't have come after
00:25:01
you. My dad would still be alive.
00:25:04
And I was like, yeah, no, she will probably kill Ellie 1st and
00:25:08
make Joel watch it before she kills him.
00:25:10
So I was like, OK, I guess I'm not going to get my my daddy
00:25:13
daughter moments, but I just, I really wanted something like
00:25:18
that. Yeah, no, no.
00:25:22
And I, I will say this, Joel, Joel isn't stupid.
00:25:29
He saw. He knew from the jump that look
00:25:33
in her face, the look in her eyes, he knew.
00:25:36
He's like, no matter what I say, no matter what I do, she's going
00:25:40
to kill me. Especially given.
00:25:42
The fact that that half of the people in the room were looking
00:25:45
uncomfortable with what she was doing.
00:25:47
Yeah, he was like, yeah, she she about to kill me.
00:25:50
Yeah, he knew. He and he, that's why he was
00:25:52
like, she's going to her speeches, like just shut up and
00:25:56
get over with. Right, because at that point I
00:25:59
was like, I had look, have you not heard of monologue and and
00:26:03
why that's a bad thing? I mean, I didn't think he was
00:26:06
going to get up and do anything because he really was.
00:26:09
I think at that point he had already resigned himself to die.
00:26:13
Because if he didn't, I mean, he had Dina there with him.
00:26:17
They had already knocked her out, put her to sleep.
00:26:19
So I think he was thinking more or less what they would do to
00:26:23
her if he did anything. And I think at that point, he
00:26:27
was just kind of like, OK, this is it.
00:26:30
No, he, he knew my mother wept. He was going to die.
00:26:35
I do feel like. And he, he knew that they were
00:26:38
not going to do anything. But then because they put her
00:26:40
out, they didn't kill her or anything.
00:26:43
They just put her out. And he knew that that was just a
00:26:46
threat. So.
00:26:47
Yeah. He he knew that he was going to.
00:26:51
Die. I do think though, that he was
00:26:53
conscious enough towards the end.
00:26:55
I'm pretty sure he probably if if anything about that whole
00:27:00
situation pissed him off 'cause I think Joe has probably known,
00:27:03
OK, something is going to come from this.
00:27:06
You know, like you can't slaughter people like that and
00:27:09
just get away with. I think he always knew something
00:27:13
was going to come for him. I think he would have been
00:27:16
pissed off about the fact that Ellie ended up showing up and
00:27:19
she had to watch it. That was probably the last thing
00:27:24
he thought. Like, I don't want this for her,
00:27:26
But there was nothing he could do 'cause I mean, she, she beat
00:27:31
the shit out of him. Yeah, she made good on her
00:27:35
promise to kill him slow. That's OK 'cause I think Ellie,
00:27:40
when she gets to her, she gonna be worse.
00:27:46
And I'm so sorry. I'm just, I'm, I'm, I'm waiting
00:27:49
for it to happen. I'm like, because I don't want
00:27:54
to say she's a villain, she's a bad guy or even Joel is bad guy.
00:27:59
Like in this type of world. We talk about this all the time
00:28:03
with Walking Dead and we've talked about it with this show
00:28:05
and just kind of all of this dystopian or end of the world
00:28:09
thing. You don't have your good people,
00:28:12
you don't have your bad people. Everybody in this type of
00:28:14
situation is going to be have a have questionable morals because
00:28:19
what else can you do in this type of world?
00:28:21
It is a kill or be killed type of world.
00:28:25
But it's like you, you, you add on the fact that one, she killed
00:28:31
Joel 2 in her quest to try to kill Joe, because I'm pretty
00:28:39
sure she went after whoever she saw on patrol thinking, OK, it's
00:28:43
only two people. I can take them.
00:28:46
I can do what I said I was going to do early.
00:28:48
I can tie them up. I can ask them about Joe, you
00:28:51
know, something like that. Or she could have, if she had
00:28:54
really thought about it, the whole pretending thing, she
00:28:57
could have been like, I heard my somebody is, is here in Jackson,
00:29:02
my, my dad's best friend. I mean, she could have played it
00:29:05
off like, I'm looking for a guy named Joel, blah, blah, blah.
00:29:09
She could have done that. But she had to sit there and try
00:29:13
to climb down to rain that she was not familiar with in an area
00:29:17
she was not familiar with. And what happens?
00:29:21
She loses her footing. She slides down the hill into a
00:29:25
literal mass graveyard of clickers frozen in the snow up
00:29:30
until they realize that something is moving up there and
00:29:35
the way that snow starts turning and breaking up as they're
00:29:40
coming out. I was like, let me go fix me
00:29:43
some coffee. I couldn't, y'all can't be
00:29:48
stressing me out like this. And then the night before I went
00:29:52
to go see Sinners. So that day I was like, Nope,
00:29:55
this is too much for me this weekend.
00:29:56
It's too much. It's too much.
00:29:59
I got too many monsters in my life right now.
00:30:02
I can't do it. But didn't they feel like, what
00:30:08
was that battle with? The uh huh, when John, when Jon
00:30:11
Snow and the guys were being when Jon Snow came out the
00:30:14
water, he was being chased by the White Walkers.
00:30:16
Yes, that's exactly what I thought, exactly what I thought,
00:30:20
because I was, I was looking at it and I was like, I'm getting
00:30:24
some Game of Thrones vibe that should have told me to expect
00:30:30
what happened to Joe. I was like, oh, OK, yeah, I'm
00:30:34
just doing the whole Game of Thrones things, except we got
00:30:37
clickers instead of White Walkers.
00:30:39
We have Joe Miller instead of Ned Stark just.
00:30:45
And somebody asked me that on social media.
00:30:47
It was like, how am I supposed to go to work tomorrow feeling
00:30:53
like this? I said, Can you imagine?
00:30:55
We used to do this every week. She was like, what the hell was
00:30:59
wrong with I? Mean it's.
00:31:03
It's it's, it's such a good episode in a bad way, but it's
00:31:11
also a bad episode in a really, really good way.
00:31:15
This is probably the best episode for me of of both
00:31:19
seasons so far. Yeah.
00:31:21
Yeah, and explain, explain this to me.
00:31:25
Who took the time out? Who took the time out to convert
00:31:31
a 711 into a greenhouse? Eugene.
00:31:35
No, Eugene found it, he said. Me and Eugene found it on the
00:31:38
patrol. You're.
00:31:39
Right, you're right. Could have been somebody who was
00:31:42
there before. He he said Eugene found them on
00:31:44
the patrol and then showed it to me when we're on the patrol.
00:31:47
Yeah, yeah, you're right. I I don't know mate.
00:31:53
I mean, I guess you do what you got to do when the world is
00:31:56
doing this shit. I mean, that's how look, that's
00:31:58
how Joel paid for his, that's how he paid for his therapy
00:32:02
session. That's why she was like, you
00:32:04
think I don't know what this is? And she started telling him all
00:32:06
the insurance and out because she was aware of what Eugene was
00:32:10
doing in that 711, because she was like, yeah, he been doing
00:32:13
this since high school. I was like, yeah, I know a few
00:32:18
people, but I I still can't believe they didn't.
00:32:31
They didn't even give us half a season.
00:32:35
It's like the first, first episode we going to set it up
00:32:38
and let y'all know, oh this is what's going on.
00:32:40
And in the second episode, we really just going to smack the
00:32:44
shit out of you and then pull the rug up from under you?
00:32:48
Yeah, but but, you know, Pedro Pascal is a busy man.
00:32:52
He got a lot of things going on and he is, you know.
00:32:56
And, you know, I was looking at some of the some of the kind of
00:33:02
reaction episode, excuse me, reaction interviews that they're
00:33:06
doing now because, you know, because it's kind of out there.
00:33:10
And he said, you know, yeah, this was this was basically I
00:33:13
knew this before I even got the part.
00:33:16
Like they all, they were always very upfront about, you know,
00:33:22
hey, we're, we're getting this from source material from this
00:33:27
game and we are going to stay as true to it as we can in this
00:33:32
medium. So he was like, I've always
00:33:34
known it was just the, the once it got to that point, it was
00:33:39
just kind of like, and I'm just like.
00:33:45
And but you know, they probably can't afford him anymore anyway
00:33:49
'cause he's the biggest thing on the cast, so.
00:33:53
Yeah. But you know what?
00:33:55
I would think that when they signed him.
00:33:59
Probably put a cap. On his salary like OK, we we're
00:34:03
going to do 2 years we're going to give you this salary because
00:34:06
he was already on his way up like he was shooting up the
00:34:08
stratosphere when he got this he was already doing Mando don't
00:34:14
tell you now they. Don't do caps.
00:34:18
He had to he had to renegotiate clause in there based on how
00:34:22
successful the show was going to be.
00:34:25
But if he knew he was going to be out, he he made sure to
00:34:28
maximize his income from what they had and they would have had
00:34:32
to pay him more and. Especially.
00:34:36
If he was going to be a, if he was going to be a permanent
00:34:40
Castman versus recurring because you don't get paid as much as a
00:34:44
recurring so but. So here, now now.
00:34:49
He'll just be recurring and they like pay him so much and he can
00:34:52
go off and do all the MCU movies he wants to do.
00:34:56
You know, it's so funny because I've been seeing people online
00:35:00
complaining about the fact that he's doing so much.
00:35:03
They're like, you know, Hollywood gets in this thing
00:35:05
where they find a favorite and they put them in everything.
00:35:08
And I'm like, no, this motherfucker is just that good.
00:35:12
He's. He's a great.
00:35:13
Actor just that good. He's like a charisma.
00:35:17
Yeah, there's a lot of. Cruise with that, yeah.
00:35:21
You know, yeah, but. You know, I, I.
00:35:23
Read article about that. The Hollywood always finds like
00:35:26
5 actors and five actresses that they like and that's how you
00:35:30
seeing everything until they get replaced by another actor
00:35:35
actress. That's OK, because you know.
00:35:36
What the fact that he is this buzzed about at 50, that's
00:35:42
that's almost an unheard of thing in Hollywood.
00:35:45
You know, it's like, especially because.
00:35:49
He's been in the business. For what, 20 something years?
00:35:52
But he's only been like big big since Game of Thrones, and that
00:35:58
sometimes don't doesn't happen because you know how this whole.
00:36:04
How this whole thing is? With older people, I mean, not
00:36:08
so much men as as it is for women, but still him being a 50
00:36:13
year old, you know, they consider 50 over the hill.
00:36:16
But thank you. I'm just saying I'm I got I got
00:36:20
two weeks. I got two weeks.
00:36:22
Where's Where's Mike? At when I need him, I'm I'm just
00:36:27
saying that. That's that's what Hollywood
00:36:29
does. I'm not saying this right,
00:36:31
because when you take all of this, this Gray out of Joel
00:36:36
Miller's head and you look at Pedro Pascal, you're not going
00:36:39
to look at him and think he's 50.
00:36:41
No. So But yeah, I just, when I say
00:36:48
this episode hurt my heart so much, like I don't even I know
00:36:51
we had a whole other thing going on.
00:36:55
I don't even know if I have the energy to talk about it.
00:36:59
It's just. It was a very.
00:37:02
Emotional, emotionally draining episode.
00:37:06
I mean, there was a lot going on, a lot of roller coaster UPS.
00:37:10
Now I, I literally was holding my breath during the horde
00:37:13
attack. Like, I was, I was, I was, I was
00:37:18
just on the couch. And even with watching Abby and
00:37:21
Joel, that whole dialogue where she starts telling him about,
00:37:25
you know, the Fireflies and oh, do you know how many people you
00:37:28
killed? Did you count them as they, you
00:37:31
know, as they fell or whatever? You killed 18 people and one
00:37:34
doctor. And then when he when she said
00:37:37
doctor, his eyes kind of moved. She was like, yeah, I'm pretty
00:37:40
sure, you guessed it, that was my dad.
00:37:42
I was like, yeah, that was Joe saying, fuck, I'm definitely not
00:37:46
getting out of here, Like, but just that whole conversation
00:37:52
because I know a lot of people complained about her casting
00:37:58
because they didn't feel like she was big enough, like the
00:38:00
like the video game character. And it was like, what's this
00:38:03
little girl going to do? I'm sorry.
00:38:05
She was scarier in this scene than any big person would have
00:38:10
been to me because she had the she had the calmness like she
00:38:17
had, she has had five years to Stew over this.
00:38:22
And even when she realized it was him and she went to grab for
00:38:27
her knife and she looked at him and he had the gun.
00:38:31
You. Can tell she was sitting.
00:38:33
There calculating and she was thinking OK hey we can go back
00:38:37
to the lodge that's where my friends are because she knew
00:38:40
this is a man who took out. 19 people.
00:38:45
By himself. Your five.
00:38:48
Your. Little five years of militia
00:38:50
training ain't going ain't going to do shit against that.
00:38:53
This man has been doing this for 20-30 years, you know, because
00:38:58
he was in the military before all this stuff happened.
00:39:01
So she was smart. She was like, yeah, you need
00:39:05
some shelter, It's cold out here.
00:39:07
We're in a lodge. And when he asked, do y'all have
00:39:11
weapons? Yes, we have weapons.
00:39:12
We can fight. You know, she's trying to make
00:39:15
it seem like, yeah, we're gonna help you.
00:39:17
But she was calculating. She was like, yeah, five of us
00:39:21
can take him better than just one of me because she doesn't
00:39:25
have the sides. On him, you.
00:39:28
Know she doesn't have she probably doesn't have the
00:39:31
strength. I'm not saying she's not strong,
00:39:33
but she's not. I've been in a war and I've been
00:39:36
doing this shit for for a long time type of you.
00:39:40
Know strength. She was she, she played it
00:39:43
smart. She played it smart.
00:39:46
She damaged him so he couldn't do anything.
00:39:50
And. Then she she.
00:39:51
Said her piece and I really think she was trying to get a
00:39:55
rise out of him but like you said, he realized he was going
00:39:59
to die. Why is he going to give her the
00:40:01
satisfaction you? Know I think if.
00:40:04
If there had been a little compassion in there instead of
00:40:09
the cruelty, I think he would have been like, you know what,
00:40:11
I'm sorry, I, I, I had to go save my kid.
00:40:15
I think you would have said something that kind of, you
00:40:17
know. Diffused a.
00:40:20
Little bit of the situation, but at this point, the way she's
00:40:24
being cruel, she's like, yeah. I'm not giving her nothing.
00:40:28
Her. Pen was pulled.
00:40:30
She was going to explode. You couldn't put that pen back
00:40:33
in that grenade, and he knew that.
00:40:36
Why? Why say?
00:40:37
Anything why I try to defend myself, why I try to justify.
00:40:41
She has already made-up her mind.
00:40:44
And like I said, he's probably seen that look 1000 times.
00:40:49
You know, he's he, he knows about her size because of that.
00:40:55
She's like 5-2. She's little and yeah, I do hear
00:40:59
about the things because in the game her character is very
00:41:04
strong and and sort of a big person.
00:41:06
And with if, I think what they kind of did was since you
00:41:12
couldn't play as Joel anymore, they replaced him with her
00:41:17
because she does a lot of the same actions that Joel does,
00:41:20
like moving things around, beating people up.
00:41:24
As opposed to, you know, Ellie, you have to sneak around and
00:41:29
shoot people from a distance where the rifle would sneak up
00:41:31
on him and stab him in the neck. He was, Abby was more like him
00:41:36
in in that style combat type thing.
00:41:40
Yeah. And that that was.
00:41:41
I think that was really for the game designers to give you that
00:41:45
same feel that you had in the first game when you're going
00:41:48
back and forth between Ellie and Joel here, going back and forth
00:41:53
between Ellie and Abby. And it was going to give you
00:41:54
that same because you don't want them switching to another
00:41:57
character and that character plays the same as the other
00:42:01
character. So yeah.
00:42:05
Yeah, it was. It was, it was.
00:42:09
Sometimes people can be the engineers of their own demise
00:42:15
when it comes to adaptations and they want it to be exactly like
00:42:20
the thing that they played and it's just, it's just not it's
00:42:24
sometimes it's not possible. And sometimes they do make the
00:42:28
decisions. I mean, on on here we talk about
00:42:32
decisions and adaptations that screw things up that don't make
00:42:35
any sense. But here they made some
00:42:37
decisions that made sense. They made some choices and
00:42:40
changes that kind of work. I think you know I.
00:42:48
Because Tommy didn't need. To be with Joel, it was better
00:42:51
than it was Dina, you know, and, and you need to know more about
00:42:58
Abby because in the game, you don't really know why she's
00:43:01
doing it. You find out way later.
00:43:04
But here they kind of give you it in the beginning, you know,
00:43:09
like the whole scene of the cemetery.
00:43:11
They kind of give you something to hold on to.
00:43:13
I I don't want to say make her sympathetic, but to kind of give
00:43:16
you and I didn't understand why because in the video game you
00:43:19
have no clue. Yeah, why?
00:43:22
This doesn't give you any. Information.
00:43:24
OK, Yeah. So.
00:43:26
That choice makes sense. OK, Yeah.
00:43:29
And one other thing I want to talk.
00:43:30
About was, I can't remember if it was one of the writers or
00:43:35
creators, but they had said that they they thought Joel made the
00:43:39
right decision at the end of season 1 or at the end of the
00:43:42
first game, but then recently that person switched.
00:43:47
She she's about to kill him in the background.
00:43:49
I don't want to see it again, but the.
00:43:52
The reason I think that person switched and was like, yeah,
00:43:55
they don't think Joe made the right decision.
00:43:58
I don't know if there was a right decision to be made.
00:44:01
Yeah. And I, yeah, I think we've.
00:44:02
Said that too because and I don't think there.
00:44:04
Was a right decision to be made in that that that instance,
00:44:08
yeah. They nobody had enough
00:44:10
information about anything to make any informed consent
00:44:14
decision about anything. So at that point you do what you
00:44:18
think is right and he did what he thought it was right.
00:44:21
Yeah. And then?
00:44:23
Also too, looking at it from the perspective of a of a parent,
00:44:28
I'm sorry, I'm going to save my kid.
00:44:30
The whole world can burn. When you find out they.
00:44:34
Don't really know what the fuck they're doing.
00:44:36
Well, that and that. Too.
00:44:38
But even without all of that, I'm supposed to just let my kid
00:44:42
be killed. So everybody, why?
00:44:47
Why? I just you.
00:44:50
You sound like Michelle. When she when she talks about
00:44:53
cabin in the woods and how in the end they made the decision
00:44:57
to let the world burn supposed to sacrifice themselves, right
00:45:02
because. Here, here's the thing.
00:45:04
So you sacrifice whatever for the rest of the world, OK.
00:45:12
The rest of the world is. Going to go on the way the rest
00:45:15
of the world does. You're still going to have
00:45:17
people killing each other. You're going to have people
00:45:19
hurting each other. You're going to have people who
00:45:21
are being unkind, people who are doing this.
00:45:25
And it's like, I let my kid die for this.
00:45:29
Oh. Absolutely.
00:45:30
Not Oh my God, OK, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm not gonna you know what
00:45:34
I just got turn this off 'cause she just crawled over to him.
00:45:37
And when I say her crawling over to him because asshole Danny
00:45:44
Ramirez then kicked her in the stomach, I was like, why y'all
00:45:47
gotta have him be an asshole in this show?
00:45:50
That's OK. But her crawling over to him, I
00:45:55
think in a sense, I think that hurt me more than seeing Abby
00:46:05
drive the the. The.
00:46:10
The golf, you know, queue into his new The broken Golf Club.
00:46:15
Yeah. Because it's like, at that
00:46:17
point, you kind of want her to put him out of his misery and
00:46:22
you already know she's about to do it.
00:46:23
If it wasn't for her friend, she probably would have tortured him
00:46:26
some more. She would have been on him some
00:46:28
more. And it's kind of like, OK, at
00:46:30
some at some point, you're literally being a dead horse.
00:46:35
Just just let it go. Go ahead and kill him that crawl
00:46:39
over to him, her having to pull the club out of his.
00:46:45
I was like fuck. Y'all fuck y'all and fuck y'all.
00:46:51
I don't want to say the sound. Editing was really good in this
00:46:54
episode, did not need to hear. All of that, No, When that.
00:47:01
Moment when Abby drives the Golf Club or stinks him with the Golf
00:47:06
Club and the sound just drops out and.
00:47:11
You all you get is a. Muffle screen for Ellie because
00:47:13
that that's like her world has ended.
00:47:18
And they have awakened the. Cracking.
00:47:21
Can you imagine her and Tommy coming after Abby?
00:47:26
That I'm count, I'm counting OK, that's going to be 1 episode
00:47:31
that person's going to be 1 episode because remember last
00:47:34
year someone died at the end of every episode I.
00:47:38
Feel like. That's what's going to happen to
00:47:40
this crew. They might as well title the
00:47:43
episode with that person's name because that's that's what's
00:47:46
going to happen. And it's going to be sad
00:47:48
because. The two girls wasn't male and I
00:47:52
can't remember the other girl's name, Tati Gabriella's
00:47:55
character. They really didn't want Amber to
00:47:59
do all of that. They were just kind of like, OK,
00:48:01
just kill Joel and and move on. Like, we look, we have been
00:48:04
following you around for five years.
00:48:06
We tired. We want to go home.
00:48:07
We don't want to be in this cold in these mountains with this
00:48:11
storm. We just want to go back.
00:48:13
We don't want to do all of this. And you saw when when she was
00:48:16
beating Joel in the face, Mel was over there crying because
00:48:21
Mel is like, you know, I know I said we'd help you kill him, but
00:48:25
this is not what I signed up for.
00:48:28
You had. I wonder.
00:48:30
I'm taking bets on who goes first.
00:48:32
Mel going to be first 'cause she's the weakest, so.
00:48:37
Oh my. God, this is it's.
00:48:39
Going to be it's it's it's going to be good yeah I'm I'm really I
00:48:43
kind of think the. Other girl is going to be first
00:48:47
and I. Because she didn't really do.
00:48:51
Anything in this episode? Well, she took she took Dina's
00:48:55
gun, she took Joe's guns and I love Tati, Tati Gabrielle.
00:48:59
I love her in everything else I've seen her in.
00:49:03
So I'm looking at her in this episode and I'm like, they
00:49:06
really just wasting her like this.
00:49:07
Like she she barely has no lines because she was in the 100.
00:49:13
I've seen her new sexy choreography.
00:49:16
You you probably gonna. See it again.
00:49:19
She she is it for a reason. You'll see it.
00:49:23
So I don't know I I. Think if we're going to take
00:49:25
bets, yeah, you're probably right.
00:49:27
I think it's going to be male. Then I think it's going to be
00:49:30
Tati's character. I think Danny Ramirez's
00:49:36
character because he's, you know, he was the one that that
00:49:40
assaulted Ellie. She she gonna come after him and
00:49:46
then the other dude just because he seems to be the closest to
00:49:50
her to Abby and I, I don't know, I have a feeling his death is
00:49:56
going to be slow. And I have a feeling.
00:49:59
Abby's going to be forced to watch because, again, you,
00:50:07
whatever you felt when your father died, you are the she she
00:50:12
was the same age that Ellie is now. 1919, yeah.
00:50:18
So now you're putting. Someone else through what you
00:50:22
went through, you don't think she's going to come back with
00:50:25
that same vengeance? At least when he killed your
00:50:27
father, he killed him on one shot.
00:50:30
Quick, clean put. Him out as misery.
00:50:34
Yeah. And at this point, Ellie
00:50:36
doesn't. Ellie doesn't know why you
00:50:39
killed her, why you killed him. That's the same.
00:50:42
No, I think she can. Probably guess.
00:50:45
She can probably guess well, especially.
00:50:48
If and. Knowing.
00:50:49
Are two different things Abby had on the Firefly.
00:50:52
Necklace and she Yeah, yeah. And she turned around to look at
00:50:58
Ellie, like, yeah, I'm, I I want you to see my face.
00:51:02
It's almost like a challenge. Like, yeah, I just killed him.
00:51:05
I know you over here crying for him and you calling out for him.
00:51:09
Yeah, I just killed him. And I want you to see that I
00:51:11
killed him and she. Told her I'm going to kill you.
00:51:15
Oh, you best believe she going. She going to be good on that
00:51:20
promise. You're all going to die.
00:51:23
You're all going. To die.
00:51:26
But yeah, I, I think if Joe has already had that conversation
00:51:30
with Ellie, then she probably has figured that.
00:51:33
She probably did figure out, OK, this is probably why.
00:51:37
But it's kind of like she'll probably think it's been five
00:51:41
years, but then. Again.
00:51:45
We. Might just see how long it's.
00:51:46
Gonna take her to find them 'cause she doesn't really know
00:51:50
who they are, where they come from.
00:51:51
Now, Dina, I do know that in the promo for the next episode, Dina
00:51:56
is gonna be like, yeah, I got their names and I and I know,
00:52:01
you know, she's going to be able to recognize that symbol that
00:52:05
Mel had on her bag. But yeah, you already told this
00:52:09
girl what's your names? Are you introduced yourselves to
00:52:12
them before you told everyone that the guy was Joel?
00:52:18
So yeah, of. Course Dean is paying attention,
00:52:20
especially because she had a gun to her head.
00:52:22
She's like, oh, let me remember some shit.
00:52:29
But OK, we're going to get off. This depressing topic Let's go
00:52:34
to the other depressing topic. Let's talk about these clickers
00:52:38
and. The town.
00:52:40
Because I will say, very impressed with the way that they
00:52:44
defended themselves. They.
00:52:47
You know. Very medieval.
00:52:50
It is, but I mean. You kind of have to be in this
00:52:53
type of environment. But the fact that they were all,
00:52:58
for the most part, on one accord, you know, everybody did
00:53:01
what they had to do. You don't have any straight
00:53:03
children running around trying to do stuff.
00:53:06
You know, you don't have anybody doing anything stupid.
00:53:10
And I liked that. I was like, all, you know, all
00:53:14
the children, all the old people, they went to the
00:53:16
basements, they went to the Cellars.
00:53:18
They hid like they were supposed to everybody.
00:53:22
Yeah. Everybody who was.
00:53:23
Supposed to be on the roof, went to the roof.
00:53:25
They had their guns, they had their weapons.
00:53:27
You had the people who were on the wall, you had the people who
00:53:30
were loading up the barrels. Like they had that shit packed.
00:53:35
And that's probably why they stood for 20 years, because they
00:53:41
they weren't playing. They were like, OK, look, if
00:53:43
we're going to stay safe, we have to work together as a
00:53:47
community. And that's what they did.
00:53:51
And and who came? In clutch at the end, the dogs,
00:53:55
the dogs, they knew exactly what to do I was like, OK, so the.
00:54:02
Animals don't get the animals don't get the Cordyceps.
00:54:05
Cool. She went in and got those dogs.
00:54:08
Those dogs were barking. They was like, let us out, let
00:54:10
us out. They knew exactly what to do.
00:54:14
They did. And it's so.
00:54:16
Funny because one of the one of the clickers, I don't know if
00:54:21
they didn't catch it in editing, but one of the clickers, you can
00:54:26
hear him when the dog comes to him.
00:54:28
He says dog real quick. And I was like, did you say
00:54:33
that? So somebody didn't edit that out
00:54:35
very well. But yeah, I mean, even even the
00:54:39
dogs did what they were supposed to do.
00:54:41
I like that. And it's like nobody was getting
00:54:45
killed up until they busted through.
00:54:46
But the fact that. The fact that they.
00:54:51
Were hiding under the dead bodies.
00:54:53
The fact that once they realized they weren't getting through one
00:54:57
way, they just all turned tail and went around.
00:55:00
And Joe was looking. I mean, Tommy was looking at
00:55:02
them like the old kids. Yeah, he was like.
00:55:08
Because all of them were at the front gate.
00:55:10
Nobody, I don't think anybody was on the surrounding gates
00:55:14
because. They were all coming from I.
00:55:16
Mean when you look out and you see these hundreds, maybe 1000
00:55:21
clickers, you're not thinking about the back door.
00:55:24
You really aren't. Because you like if they get
00:55:26
through here, it don't matter who's at the back door.
00:55:29
Yeah. And what happened that had the
00:55:33
Bloater breaking the wall down? Anything was armor because they
00:55:39
were shooting it. This fucking floater.
00:55:43
He was getting ready to go after Maria because she was shooting
00:55:45
at him. She was shooting him dead in the
00:55:48
head and he's looking at her like, oh OK, I'm coming to get
00:55:51
you. And that's when Tommy was like,
00:55:53
hey over here. But I was like, where y'all
00:55:56
baby? Because I didn't see him in the
00:55:58
he was in the basement. He was in somebody's basement,
00:56:03
but yeah, I was. I was very impressed with the
00:56:06
way that town handled it, and as you can see, the town is still
00:56:09
standing at the end. There's a lot of dead clickers
00:56:12
in the street, a lot of dead people as well, but for the most
00:56:15
part most of their town is still intact.
00:56:18
I think there were maybe a couple of buildings that were on
00:56:21
fire, probably from the flamethrowers.
00:56:23
Could have been from the two flamethrowers that retreated.
00:56:27
And if so, I hope y'all dead coward one.
00:56:31
Of them was Seth, 'cause I don't think it's Seth around, did he?
00:56:35
But anyway, yeah. And then then walking around
00:56:39
shooting people in the airway gotten bitten that they had to
00:56:42
be hard to. Yeah.
00:56:46
But you know, Joel set the standard to kill Eugene.
00:56:51
Yeah. And we don't.
00:56:52
Even know how bad Eugene got? Because from the way.
00:56:56
They were from the way his wife talks when they're like, when
00:57:00
she said it's not that you had to do it.
00:57:03
I understand you had to do it. It's how you did it.
00:57:06
I was like, oh, did he have to get like ultraviolent in order
00:57:10
to put him down? He could have shot him.
00:57:14
Right after he got bitten 'cause sometimes it it can take up to
00:57:18
24 hours and sometimes it's quick.
00:57:21
Yeah, but who's who's? Take that chance like Joel is
00:57:25
not. Exactly.
00:57:28
Exactly how fast? It was a test.
00:57:31
How fast she changed, Yeah. And, and he at at, I think at
00:57:37
that point he was even going to try to be like, well, maybe.
00:57:40
And Tess was like, if you don't get the fuck out of here, she
00:57:43
was like, I already feel what it's doing to me.
00:57:48
Yeah. Joe was like, we're not going to
00:57:50
do this again. No.
00:57:53
No, but. I.
00:58:01
Let me tell you this. Episode from start to finish, I
00:58:07
was sitting on the edge of the couch.
00:58:08
I was like, I was sitting there with my hands like this at one
00:58:12
point. Then like I said, I had to pause
00:58:15
at one point 'cause I was like, I can't that's too many clickers
00:58:18
like it. The I got goosebumps now just
00:58:21
talking about them because once, especially when you do like the
00:58:24
the sky shot, when you're doing a drone shot and you see all of
00:58:29
them kind of running like ants, it just feels like something is
00:58:34
crawling on your skin. I was like, no, I can't do it.
00:58:36
I can't. I was like, OK, it's going to
00:58:39
take. Me, two hours to watch this
00:58:40
episode and like I said, I went to go see Sinners the night
00:58:44
before, so I've already I got vampires in my mind on one end,
00:58:48
then I got clickers on my mind and the other end I was like,
00:58:51
you know it. There's a reason why I stay
00:58:55
away. From far as much as I do.
00:58:59
For as much as I did. But it's like, no, OK, come on
00:59:02
now. You, we, we are not going to
00:59:04
have this conversation again. I'm just saying I don't.
00:59:06
I don't watch horror as much as I used.
00:59:11
To and I remember why. Because now I'm going to, I'm
00:59:14
going to, I'm going to sit here and think like I, I did.
00:59:17
I didn't sleep last night. Not because of this, just
00:59:20
because I suffer from insomnia. So I literally got about 15
00:59:24
minutes of sleep last night. But every time I closed my eyes
00:59:28
last night, I was either replaying the movie or I was
00:59:32
replaying the show and I was like, you know what?
00:59:34
This is not good for my health, right?
00:59:38
Can I? Listen to something.
00:59:39
That's gonna say no. It just, it was still there
00:59:42
playing and I was just like his prosthetic makeup was so good
00:59:47
because I was like, did y'all really hurt my baby's face?
00:59:52
And Abby would say, yeah, you are kind of handsome or you are
00:59:56
handsome and I. Feel like that's why she.
00:59:59
Hit him in the face so much too. She was like, yeah, you good
01:00:03
looking guy. Let me just let me fuck your
01:00:05
face up so nobody can recognize you once you die.
01:00:08
I when when Ellie gets to her. I'm just, I'm waiting for it.
01:00:23
But I, I want it, I hate, I hate to say it, I want it to be just
01:00:28
as slow as it was when she killed Joe.
01:00:34
Because and and and the same with the friends too, because
01:00:37
the friends could have put him out as misery.
01:00:39
They could have, I think if they had tried, they could have
01:00:43
handled Abby. They could have been like, OK,
01:00:45
you know what? You've done enough.
01:00:46
If you're not going to kill them, just leave it alone.
01:00:50
Nah, you stay out of it. Let her get it out of her
01:00:52
system. Because then you.
01:00:55
Got to be around here. You got to hear her.
01:00:57
You got to hear her talk about it.
01:00:58
I know you didn't. Let me do this you.
01:01:01
Didn't let me do that. If you had just let me do this,
01:01:03
that's not complete. But I didn't get mine says Nah.
01:01:07
Let let her just just go. Just leave her alone and just be
01:01:12
like OK. You may want to try to wrap this
01:01:14
up pretty soon, 'cause we don't want to have the whole town on
01:01:18
top of us, right, 'cause I'm like, OK.
01:01:20
So you came across these two? We just had this one other.
01:01:23
They're gonna come looking for their patrols.
01:01:24
They're gonna come looking for their patrols, right?
01:01:27
Well, I guess they. Find, I guess they actually
01:01:29
looked at what was going on that town.
01:01:31
They were like, no, I think they're a little busy right now.
01:01:34
Right now, yeah. But at.
01:01:36
Some point. You you might need to, you know,
01:01:40
those clickers could turn around and come back up the mountain.
01:01:42
But see, that's the thing. The other.
01:01:43
Friends didn't even know about the clickers, Abby.
01:01:45
She did. Yeah, she did.
01:01:47
That's. Right, so I.
01:01:49
Was just like I said, I don't think he's, I don't think he's
01:01:56
gone completely because I do believe they're going to show us
01:02:00
some flashbacks on some stuff, but.
01:02:04
The fact that he is. Dead and Ellie had to watch
01:02:09
that's just I swear HBO be doing some shit.
01:02:21
I don't even I. I don't even know if there's
01:02:24
anything else to say. There isn't.
01:02:30
They're looking forward to this season.
01:02:32
I mean yeah, 'cause if y'all like this.
01:02:35
Coming out the gate, Yeah, like I said.
01:02:38
This is episode. 2 They have what, 8 episodes in this season,
01:02:42
yeah. But the fact that Ellie said you
01:02:47
all going to die, I'm sure Tommy's going to get a couple of
01:02:51
them and they're going to die some brutal deaths because.
01:02:55
They're going to be 1. Information about Abby and Dana,
01:02:59
Dana will. Probably join in.
01:03:01
Oh, she'll be on. She'll be in.
01:03:03
Lonely too, because she was there.
01:03:05
They knocked her out. Jesse was crying on his horse
01:03:08
when they were he might be there.
01:03:10
Too. He might be there too.
01:03:12
He. Might be like, OK, you know what
01:03:15
and Maria's going to be like. Y'all can't do this, we gotta
01:03:18
let it go. And they're going to look at her
01:03:19
like, especially you're like, excuse me?
01:03:26
Come here for a second, let me show you my brother's face and
01:03:29
what this bitch did to him, Tommy and.
01:03:31
Ellie are going to go no matter what anybody says, and nobody
01:03:36
better get in their way. Absolutely.
01:03:39
Absolutely nobody Tommy is. Like.
01:03:41
This is my Big Brother. My Big Brother.
01:03:46
But you know what though? They.
01:03:47
May make a change. I mean, they mean that because
01:03:51
he does have a kid and and I can really see.
01:04:01
I can really see Joel telling. Him stay with your kid.
01:04:07
Now he would tell Ellie. You do what you got to do.
01:04:11
He's. Like.
01:04:12
He would tell Tommy you got to say what you keep.
01:04:14
Do you think Tommy? Does not know what Joel did to
01:04:18
save Ellie. He told him right.
01:04:21
I'm I'm. Sure he did.
01:04:23
No, we haven't seen him tell him, but I'm sure.
01:04:25
I'm sure he told his brother. So, yeah, and that.
01:04:30
That's probably one of the reasons why Tommy was like, we
01:04:32
don't talk about that. We don't.
01:04:35
Talk about the fact. That you have a kid.
01:04:37
We don't talk about that. No, because there are, there
01:04:41
are. Enough people in that town who
01:04:43
remember when Joel and Ellie came through the first time and
01:04:48
that, oh, well, we, we have to leave.
01:04:50
We got to go do some. Somebody going to start asking
01:04:52
questions and no. So I think Tommy knows.
01:04:58
So if that's the case, Tommy will probably also figure it
01:05:01
out. And Tommy would have in that
01:05:04
mindset, like my brother wouldn't tell me to stay, stay
01:05:08
behind and you know, whatever. Cuz yeah, no you don't.
01:05:16
I mean, I feel. Like he probably would, but he
01:05:18
would understand that Tommy's gonna be like, no, this bitch
01:05:21
killed my brother. It's on.
01:05:26
It is on. They got her name, they got.
01:05:33
All of their names. They have enough.
01:05:36
Information so they can try and figure out what that patch is
01:05:39
cause chances are Tommy before he joined Jackson Hole, before
01:05:46
he joined that community, he was a Firefly.
01:05:48
He was a. Firefly.
01:05:50
He's going to know what that is. He's.
01:05:53
Going to know, OK. This might be a connection, and
01:05:56
I know Abby said that all of the fireflies are gone.
01:06:01
But y'all got some. Firefly adjacent people.
01:06:03
Because other than that, how would you know about this
01:06:05
militia camp in Seattle? They were probably training some
01:06:09
of the fireflies. So yeah.
01:06:15
I'm just, I mean, at this point, there's really not much else
01:06:23
that you can do that will shock me because killing anybody else
01:06:29
other than Ellie or Tommy, it's just going to be like, OK, if
01:06:34
they kill that little boy, I might have an issue.
01:06:37
But anybody else is just kind of like.
01:06:40
OK. Are they?
01:06:41
Are they? Dying to go get revenge for Joe?
01:06:44
No. OK, well, you know what?
01:06:46
Rest in peace. Keep going.
01:06:51
I think the. Only thing they have only thing
01:06:55
the only thing that show people have in their bag is.
01:07:00
Is the. Brutality, escalating brutality
01:07:04
of the murders of the people, that's, that's all they got in
01:07:09
their bag and I see it. Happening.
01:07:11
This is going to be. Escalating.
01:07:15
Because Ellie is going to make sure Ellie is I.
01:07:17
I really, really feel like because already Ellie is, she's
01:07:23
not. I don't want to say she's not.
01:07:27
Normal, but you already see what type of personality personality
01:07:32
she has. She's quick at the mouth, she's
01:07:35
quick tempered. You know, we saw her basically
01:07:41
doing Private Fight Club. You see her in the promo for the
01:07:46
next episode boxing with a lot of anger.
01:07:50
It's just going to escalate. Abby does not know what she
01:07:53
unleashed. No, she.
01:07:56
She's always the cracking. I don't even know if that's
01:08:00
strong. Enough a term she I just yeah
01:08:04
yeah, because what's going to. Happen, I think is the closer
01:08:07
she gets to Abby, the more likely the person's going to
01:08:10
hold on to information and the more at Ellie's going to have to
01:08:15
do to get that information. And if you don't give her the
01:08:18
information, I don't know. Something tells me Mel would
01:08:24
crack. Oh, that's what she gonna be
01:08:27
The. First, she gonna be the first
01:08:28
one to crack and the first one to die.
01:08:34
Yeah, this is going to be an interesting season.
01:08:37
I want, I want, I want to see how creative they're going to
01:08:40
be. Hunter's sleeping.
01:08:42
Has begun. I'm just saying.
01:08:46
And, and we saw in the first episode Tommy has been teaching
01:08:50
her to shoot and. She's a pretty decent.
01:08:54
Damn good shot she is, She is. It's a it, it reminds me of John
01:08:59
Wick. It's going to be, it's going to
01:09:02
be like John Wick. That could be bloody because.
01:09:07
That she killed a lot more than her dogs.
01:09:09
So yeah, it's going to be. It's going to be terrible for
01:09:12
them. I really feel bad.
01:09:13
Well, I don't feel bad for them, but it is unfortunate for them.
01:09:18
And yeah, I was going to. Say like I.
01:09:22
Abby is the one that put them in that position.
01:09:26
Yeah, they didn't. Try hard enough to deter her off
01:09:29
this path. And you know what?
01:09:31
And. I'm going to say I can
01:09:34
understand them not doing that because that was her father.
01:09:37
I mean, think about a year in a post apocalyptic world with
01:09:42
these monsters that go around killing people.
01:09:45
It's probably already rare that people who that people are still
01:09:49
together from their original families before they before this
01:09:53
whole thing started, so that I. Totally understand it, but I'm
01:09:58
talking about self preservation. Oh, I know, I know.
01:10:02
I'm just. I'm just.
01:10:04
You know I. Know, I'm just saying at.
01:10:06
Least two or three of them. Be like, you know what, dawg?
01:10:08
I'm going to Seattle. I mean, she went to.
01:10:12
Seattle. They were there.
01:10:13
For five years, she was getting her training because she knew
01:10:16
that at the time, as a 19 year old, she was not going to be
01:10:20
able to do what she needed to do for Joe.
01:10:21
That's why the other dude was trying to tell her, look, the
01:10:24
militia may have resources. Yeah, they trained her when we
01:10:28
woke up. That morning and we saw that it
01:10:31
was a whole goddamn city of people.
01:10:35
Nah, we we good, we going back. Well, see, that's the thing.
01:10:39
They were going to try to talk her back, but Abby kind of went
01:10:42
on her own when she saw the patrol.
01:10:44
I think if she had gone back like she was actually planning
01:10:47
to do, because she was like, it's too cold, fuck this, I'm
01:10:50
going back. And she just happened to hear
01:10:52
the horses. And I was like, damn it, that
01:10:55
mountain range in the Echoing Hills, if that's one of those.
01:10:59
Feasts point in time they can change.
01:11:01
It was inevitable, yeah. I just thought it was going to
01:11:06
be inevitable, like in Episode 5 or 6.
01:11:11
I didn't think we were going to get it in too.
01:11:13
I was not prepared. And when Ellie is.
01:11:16
Standing over Abby's body, looking down at her, I am
01:11:20
inevitable. I can't believe she.
01:11:29
Killed but. You know what I will say?
01:11:32
This I am glad they didn't deviate from that because I
01:11:36
think it would have had less impact on the story if it had
01:11:39
been someone else or if they had changed it to where, you know,
01:11:43
it's just kind of like a cat and mouse game and Joel doesn't die.
01:11:46
Granted, I don't like to see that that he died.
01:11:49
I I don't I didn't like it when Glenn died on The Walking Dead
01:11:53
or any of those people died on The Walking Dead.
01:11:55
But it's kind of like sometimes in this type of environment.
01:12:01
You, you got to have the emotional.
01:12:03
Death and the only way that it was going to be emotional, it
01:12:06
has to be either Joel, Tommy or Ellie.
01:12:10
And I don't know anything about Tommy or Ellie's their fates in
01:12:15
the video games. And I don't want to know.
01:12:17
I didn't want to know about Joel, but it was out so much
01:12:20
like when this show was announced, there were so many
01:12:23
people who were talking about what happened in the video game,
01:12:26
what happened in the video game. Even on my Facebook, I was just
01:12:29
kind of like very vague booking, which if you don't know the
01:12:36
history of the show, if you don't know the spoilers, it
01:12:39
wouldn't have, it wouldn't have triggered you.
01:12:42
You wouldn't have known what I was talking about.
01:12:44
But there were people who were like, yeah, I can't believe she
01:12:47
did that. They did that in the in the, you
01:12:50
know, in the game and blah, blah, blah.
01:12:52
And I was like. It hasn't even been 24.
01:12:56
Hours and people are spoiling, but I mean, that's just kind of
01:12:59
the way it is now. If you don't watch it at the
01:13:01
first run, you run the risk of being spoiled.
01:13:05
So yeah. Or Joe or Ellie or Abby, 'cause
01:13:14
she bout to get it. She bout to get it, yeah.
01:13:18
She has at least the crack. I don't.
01:13:24
I don't even know if. There's anything left to say
01:13:26
about this episode? I don't have anything else to
01:13:29
say. Do you?
01:13:31
No, I don't. So I don't.
01:13:34
Shout. Out to the actress Glenn Abbey,
01:13:36
because she's really good. Haley Deaver, Yeah.
01:13:39
Yeah, her, Her. The way she evotes and the
01:13:43
talking and and her pacing is excellent.
01:13:45
She's a really, really good actress.
01:13:47
So I think a lot of people are going to forgive them for not
01:13:51
having cast a bigger girl, a bigger woman, and haven't gone
01:13:57
with her because she's she's really, really good in this
01:14:00
world. Yeah.
01:14:01
She. Is so a little too good if you
01:14:04
ask me. But yeah, I don't have anything
01:14:10
else to say. Joel is dead and I'm depressed.
01:14:12
So on that note, that is it for our show.
