#outlander For the last time, we get to declare that DROUGHTLANDER IS OVER!!! With mixed emotions, we discuss the beginning of the end with the season 8 premiere of Outlander.
Jamie and Claire deal with a painful revelation regarding a past tragedy. Fanny starts to settle in as the Frasers travel back toward the Ridge. Jamie and Claire find the Ridge very different from when they left, including some interesting and unpleasant new neighbors. Reunions - expected and not - bring joy to the Frasers. Meanwhile, in Savannah, William continues to struggle with the trials of the past year, while also finding himself grieving once more. Jamie learns some disturbing news from an unexpected source.

00:00:24
What's up, hybrids? Welcome back to another episode
00:00:27
of the Phantom Hybrid Podcast. This is Hanukkah and I am here
00:00:30
with Michelle and Dina and Drought Lander is finally.
00:00:36
Over. Yes, we are discussing the
00:00:39
season 8's premiere of Outlander.
00:00:43
It is the first episode of the final season.
00:00:50
I'm still not over that. I'm still not happy with that.
00:00:53
But OK. It is what it is.
00:00:55
But how are you doing? Are you guys OK?
00:00:59
Are you glad we're out of drought land?
00:01:00
And Dina, welcome to Outlander. Oh yeah, yeah.
00:01:04
Because she was, she did blood of my blood with us.
00:01:09
Welcome. How are you feeling?
00:01:12
It's the final season. I've been dreading just because
00:01:18
like, like just knowing stuff that's supposed to happen or
00:01:22
appears to be happening. I'm like dreading it 'cause you
00:01:27
know, there's, I want them to live forever.
00:01:29
Their love is so great. I just want them to live forever
00:01:31
and like they need them. Yeah, they will.
00:01:34
It will be the notebook. They'll be old and they'll die
00:01:38
together. No, wait, you keep in the
00:01:39
notebook with them. Well, hopefully not as bad as
00:01:44
notebook is when what the reason, But yes they can die
00:01:47
again. But together, yes, OK.
00:01:51
So we're going to get into the season 8's premiere.
00:01:54
We're going to go ahead and address the elephant in the
00:01:57
room. There's a lot of things we need
00:01:58
to talk about in this. Which one we're going to go
00:02:00
ahead. We're going to go ahead and from
00:02:02
the top, we all go ahead and get this faith stuff out the way.
00:02:06
Let's let's let's let's talk about it.
00:02:09
Let me get my notes here. You got notes.
00:02:12
OK, now I will say this because I didn't get a chance to go back
00:02:17
and rewatch the last episode of season 7.
00:02:20
So I actually got to go to the premiere event in New York City
00:02:27
last week, and I got to see it with the fans and I got to see
00:02:30
with the cast, which was a great way to view it.
00:02:34
But it was so weird because, you know, the episode starts with
00:02:37
this cold open, and it's Jamie and Claire.
00:02:41
And I'm sitting here figuring out like, what the hell are they
00:02:44
doing? And it had to click in my brain.
00:02:47
OK, so at this point, if people haven't realized this already,
00:02:53
they are veering from the books and we will talk about that as
00:02:56
well because I've seen a lot of people pissed off about them
00:02:59
deviating from the books. A lot of people pissed off about
00:03:03
this whole faith thing. I have my own thoughts about it,
00:03:06
but Michelle, you got notes, so we gonna start with you.
00:03:10
Well, I know, and it's hard because we don't want to do
00:03:14
spoilers of Blood of my blood, but thinking of what was
00:03:18
happening in that show and then this, and I'm so happy they got
00:03:23
caught up and that this really could be faith.
00:03:26
But if it is, let's just let's just think about it.
00:03:29
There's one thing that's that's showing that it's not her.
00:03:33
I got evidence, OK, The evidence is come on, counselor.
00:03:38
If you lost her when you gave birth, then how would she know
00:03:43
the song right? How would she know I have it?
00:03:49
But was it explain song? You got something for that?
00:03:53
OK, OK, OK, OK, let's show evidence.
00:03:56
OK, So remember talking about how you know it When we're
00:03:58
talking about my blood, My blood, we're talking about how
00:04:00
she was singing the song like while she was I guess pregnant
00:04:03
with her and all this stuff. Whoever took her knew the song
00:04:07
and they whoever 'cause they, I'm pretty sure whoever took her
00:04:11
was there and they swapped that baby and they were singing that
00:04:14
song. OK, and see, see, I thought
00:04:17
about that. That's a lot.
00:04:18
I rewatched the clip of Claire and faith in in the hospital
00:04:26
before I started rewatching this tonight because I was like, I, I
00:04:30
just kind of need to get my, my head in that that space.
00:04:34
And there are a lot of things that don't add up to this being
00:04:39
faith or to Fanny's mom being faith first and foremost.
00:04:45
They gave Claire that baby in the morning.
00:04:50
She held that baby all day. Yep.
00:04:57
OK, now say what we think about Mother Hildegard or Lord.
00:05:08
My mind just went blank. Master Raymond.
00:05:11
Yes, Master Raymond, I don't feel like they would do
00:05:18
something as cruel as made clear go through that kind of
00:05:23
suffering. I mean, we saw the visual of her
00:05:27
on the table, we saw her bleeding out.
00:05:29
We saw them doing the surgery. I just, I don't feel like this
00:05:36
is faith. This is their faith.
00:05:37
And the other thing is Outlander has been good over the last
00:05:41
seven seasons. They lead us in One Direction
00:05:45
and then we find out something else totally different is going
00:05:49
on. And I kind of feel like that's
00:05:52
what they're doing with this character.
00:05:53
I feel like it's a purposeful misdirect because I, I feel like
00:06:00
in a way, they're, they're trying to pull Fanny and Jane's
00:06:04
story into Jamie and Claire's and they're trying to, you know,
00:06:08
just kind of make that suspense, which, OK, I get it.
00:06:12
If you want to do something different, that's different.
00:06:13
Again, this has now veered away from book territory.
00:06:18
OK, This is not an adaptation anymore.
00:06:21
This is based on the novel written by Diana Gabaldon, which
00:06:26
means there are certain liberties they are going to
00:06:29
take. If you have gotten this far
00:06:32
watching Outlander and you don't realize that they're deviating
00:06:35
from the books or you're still pissed off that they're
00:06:37
deviating from the books, you're not paying attention if it's not
00:06:42
going to be a faithful adaptation.
00:06:44
And, and I'm OK with that one because I was a show fan 1st and
00:06:51
then I went in and read the books and the books way too
00:06:54
dense, way too much information. They can't do it.
00:06:58
The second thing is for this to be the final season and Diana
00:07:04
Gabaldon has not yet finished writing her 10th book.
00:07:10
Why, as an author, would you give the show permission to tell
00:07:16
your story before you put your story out there?
00:07:19
Because if they tell her story, if they give her ending in the
00:07:24
show, what's going to compel people to go buy the book?
00:07:29
Granted, yes, the book fans are going to go buy it regardless,
00:07:33
but the people that you are trying to convert to the books
00:07:36
from the show, if they already have the answer, why are they
00:07:39
going to go look for it elsewhere?
00:07:41
And This is why I don't understand why book people are
00:07:43
so mad because it's like, do you read?
00:07:46
If you have been following these books for what?
00:07:50
She wrote these books 30 years ago.
00:07:53
If you have been following these books for 30 years and then the
00:07:57
show comes in and gives you the ending instead of you sitting
00:08:02
down with your cup of coffee in your pajamas in your comfortable
00:08:05
chair and reading the ending like you did all the other
00:08:11
books. Why would you want that?
00:08:13
I don't want that. And I was a show a show fan
00:08:16
first. I, I don't mind the, the, the,
00:08:21
the ending being different. So I don't mind them doing
00:08:24
different things. Going back to Faith again,
00:08:32
Claire saying to that stillborn baby all day or she was holding
00:08:35
that stillborn baby all day. OK, there's there's a part in
00:08:39
the books where they talk about it.
00:08:41
They don't mention this in the show, but there's a part in the
00:08:44
book where when when Louise comes to the hospital and sees
00:08:51
all of that like they, if if I'm not mistaken, I think I'm
00:08:56
remembering this correctly, but the baby has started to decay
00:09:01
like you can. You can smell the death on her
00:09:06
so. So it can't be a fake baby.
00:09:09
Second, whose dead baby are you about to give her and why would
00:09:15
you do that? That's why it makes sense to me.
00:09:18
It doesn't. Yeah, and I don't.
00:09:21
Think, I don't think mother, I don't think she would do that
00:09:25
because she was a woman of the cloth and I just don't think for
00:09:30
whatever reason she would do that.
00:09:34
There's no, there's no reason why that is true.
00:09:38
There's no, there's no why unless there's something this TV
00:09:42
is going on like they realized Faith needs to be taken because
00:09:46
later she has to grow up here to save the world.
00:09:49
But that it that's not this show.
00:09:51
So there is there isn't a why right now.
00:09:56
I think it is a misdirect, but it's kinda I I don't want us to
00:10:02
say because just in case someone didn't see that that other show,
00:10:05
but it could be a different relative.
00:10:08
Yeah, he who that's still the family line.
00:10:13
And maybe that relative was singing to his wife, who then
00:10:20
sung to her kids. Or they could sun to their
00:10:23
children because. Together, you see what I'm
00:10:25
saying? That song came from.
00:10:28
The 19 I mean it's the song was written in 19 O 9.
00:10:32
Song came from, you know. It's, you know, I forgot.
00:10:36
You see that? You know what I'm saying?
00:10:38
Yeah, that it probably came from that.
00:10:40
Person versus Claire. Yeah, Claire.
00:10:41
No, that's what that's right about.
00:10:43
That she stuck on that, but there's something.
00:10:47
Something they're going to connect blood in my blood and
00:10:51
they're going to have to somehow.
00:10:53
That's what I think too. I think.
00:10:55
I think that's what so we going to find out and maybe we'll find
00:10:59
out in the book. I, I'm not going to, I, I would
00:11:04
say probably not in the book because Diana has.
00:11:08
Not that book I'm talking about. I'm sorry.
00:11:10
I'm talking about, oh, Frank's. Book.
00:11:12
Frank's book. OK, OK, the other the other
00:11:16
thing about this is we are all basing this on the fact that
00:11:20
Claire saw the name Faith on the Locket.
00:11:23
She looked at the picture of the girl and you know, she she was
00:11:26
pretty, she looked familiar. But The thing is, Faith is
00:11:32
actually not an uncommon name. Now, the fact that somebody
00:11:39
named Faith is involved or directly related to this person
00:11:43
who is coming to Jamie and Claire's hemisphere, that's a
00:11:46
little bit coincidental. But again, I do personally feel
00:11:52
like there is going to be a tie in to Blood of My Blood because
00:11:57
the way that they are doing that show and again, based on based
00:12:01
on characters from the Outlander series, it says that very
00:12:05
clearly in Blood of My Blood. And we already know in the
00:12:10
books, Claire's parents are dead.
00:12:12
They're like dead, dead. Diana has said that several
00:12:14
times to the point where she's like, yeah, in the show, like I
00:12:18
don't even think about those characters because those
00:12:20
characters don't exist to me. Like, so they're dead In the
00:12:25
show, however, they are live. They are time travelers.
00:12:30
And we did see at the end of the first season, there is a
00:12:35
possibility they may have had to go through the stones to protect
00:12:39
themselves. I think this faith that we are
00:12:46
discussing could possibly be related to Claire, but just not
00:12:51
in the way that she thinks. Because here's the other thing.
00:12:54
Why would you as a writer take the character and the fans on a
00:13:01
journey to lose that character not once but twice without ever
00:13:06
having met her? Why would you do that emotional
00:13:10
damage? That's why I think it's a
00:13:12
misdirect. I think they're setting this up.
00:13:15
And granted, it'll probably, it will be heartbreaking to Claire
00:13:19
and Jamie if they find out, oh, that actually wasn't our
00:13:23
daughter, but. It's another relative, yeah.
00:13:27
But it will also be good because now they don't have to live with
00:13:31
that, that guilt or that hurt or that right about, oh, our
00:13:35
daughter was out there in the world and she didn't.
00:13:37
And that's we didn't have her. And that's what I think it is.
00:13:40
Like it literally it's just it opens the door for her to learn
00:13:44
about other relatives and not necessarily her parents.
00:13:50
Just yeah. And I will say her parents, but
00:13:53
not necessarily faith. Even the faith that's on the
00:13:56
Lockheed that she related to, it just opens up their minds to her
00:14:03
parents. That's all I'm going to say.
00:14:04
Her parents. Oh gosh.
00:14:07
Try. Try not to spoil blood in my
00:14:09
blood. Makes it very good look if they,
00:14:11
if they wash blood in my blood, look, we've been talking about
00:14:15
blood in my blood. They just mute for five blood
00:14:17
for 5 minutes. Go ahead and spoil it.
00:14:20
That's how I'll I'll play spoiler alert in the in the show
00:14:24
notes. Before, Oh yeah, 'cause I was
00:14:26
just thinking like, you know, we did.
00:14:28
I think we, I think we discussed this on blood in my blood.
00:14:31
It's like if Julia has another kid while she's back in the
00:14:35
past, and that could be the faith or that you know, And so
00:14:40
like we don't like, it's so many things that could.
00:14:44
And that right. And it ultimately could be his
00:14:47
wife. That's all I was trying to say.
00:14:49
Like it's his. It could be his wife.
00:14:51
He could have been the captain that they were mentioning if the
00:14:56
story was true. I don't really really.
00:14:58
Trust. Pirates.
00:14:59
But it's that could be his wife and he sung the song to his and
00:15:04
then his wife also sung it to the kids 'cause she learned it
00:15:06
from him. Yeah, yeah.
00:15:09
That's. True.
00:15:10
That is more logical. Yeah.
00:15:12
Then your baby was taken. Your stillborn baby.
00:15:16
Your stillborn baby. No, no.
00:15:18
They gave you another stillborn baby.
00:15:20
Somebody else had to have a dead baby.
00:15:23
That is soap opera, that's what that's.
00:15:24
Right it is. And then a person heard you sing
00:15:28
the song the day you were grieving your baby or when you
00:15:31
were walking around pregnant to this scene too, because I got
00:15:34
another theory. Before you, before you talk
00:15:39
about your theory, because here's the other thing about
00:15:41
that. If you're talking about someone
00:15:43
took her baby and switched it out with somebody else, you are
00:15:47
talking so much complicity in a nunnery.
00:15:53
Right. In a hospital full of none.
00:15:56
Now, the only thing I would say was suspicious when I went back
00:16:00
and looked at the the clip, that asshole Doctor Who was working
00:16:06
in there with her, the the one who was the butcher, he was the
00:16:10
one that that delivered faith. He was the one that was, you
00:16:13
know, treating her. He kept looking at her in in
00:16:17
like this weird way. But I thought at the time that
00:16:20
he was looking at her because he already didn't like her.
00:16:23
She had already questioned him on some of his methods.
00:16:26
So I was just kind of looking at it like he's thinking, oh, you
00:16:29
know what, she deserved this or whatever because he's a man and
00:16:33
he didn't whatever. But other than that, you're
00:16:36
talking about mother, Mother Hildegard.
00:16:39
You're talking about the doctor. You're talking about the other
00:16:42
two nuns who were there at the birth.
00:16:46
She, she was surrounded by people at birth.
00:16:49
You mean to tell me all those religious folks took part in a
00:16:53
lie and lied to this woman about her baby and then kept that lie
00:16:57
going when they saw her go to pieces?
00:17:00
I just don't believe that. I just don't believe that.
00:17:05
I had to remember I had to go back and watch because I was.
00:17:07
I have restarted watching Outlander from the beginning but
00:17:09
I have to finish that first season so I can get to that to
00:17:13
France because I forget so much. That that's a that's a rough
00:17:16
episode to go through, though. But Michelle, what was your
00:17:18
other theory? Oh no, I was being crazy with
00:17:21
the theory being that OK, she lost faith but Faith was taken
00:17:26
from her. But Faith was actually in the
00:17:30
nunnery as an adult. Oh God.
00:17:34
And heard the song. See, I said that's so far out.
00:17:37
So guess what? Since that's so far out and the
00:17:40
one we just said was far out, that means the original idea of
00:17:45
is her brother's family. Yeah, is lying.
00:17:48
Is lying. Is she gonna learn about his
00:17:50
life? That's what I feel like.
00:17:52
That's really, that's why that connection is there.
00:17:55
And then I, I don't know something about the I I don't
00:18:01
know. But then that's still sad 'cause
00:18:05
even if she finds out as her brother's lying, they did.
00:18:08
But OK, so here is the other thing that that would make it
00:18:12
very weird. So Brianna is in what, her 30s
00:18:18
now? Faith was only a year and a
00:18:23
half, maybe 2 years older than Bri at the most.
00:18:28
You mean to tell me she had a, a, a child James age, which I
00:18:32
mean 1700s teenage pregnancy? That's not that far off.
00:18:36
But from what? The, the, the ship, the the guy
00:18:40
who they killed at the beginning of the episode.
00:18:43
I mean, he could have lied, but the fact that he used the
00:18:47
captain's name, Pocock, he said that without, without prompting.
00:18:52
So that makes me think that most of what he said was true.
00:18:57
He also talked about the wife and he said she had wild hair.
00:19:01
He didn't say she had red hair. He said he just said wild hair.
00:19:05
I did. I did.
00:19:07
That could have. I mean, if you think about it,
00:19:09
that's the way Claire was described early on in the in the
00:19:14
show and in the. Books so 'cause you don't know
00:19:18
if we don't learn this later in other seasons of blood in my
00:19:22
blood, we don't know. Oh.
00:19:24
That would be That would be so mad, that drag.
00:19:26
That no if the the brother starts traveling himself and he
00:19:30
found him a woman who can travel and she from the current time
00:19:36
too. Well, current time.
00:19:39
No, Claire's time. Not his time.
00:19:42
You know what I'm trying to say? Our time.
00:19:45
But basically to to narrow it down, we're all in agreement.
00:19:52
This is not Faith Fraser that they are talking about.
00:19:56
There's no way. I don't know what Master Raymond
00:19:59
needs forgiveness for. Maybe he needs forgiveness
00:20:02
because he knows that maybe he knew that Claire's parents were
00:20:06
alive. Maybe he that part out.
00:20:09
You know, because I don't know if you guys are aware, but I
00:20:14
know in the books, I believe it's either hinted or it's
00:20:18
confirmed that I haven't read the side, all of the side
00:20:21
novellas yet, but I think it's hinted that Master Raymond is a
00:20:25
time traveller and I think he may be related to Claire.
00:20:31
Oh yeah, you told us that. If they if they're tying that
00:20:35
into the story, that could make a little more sense because then
00:20:40
that could explain a little bit more as far as her, you know,
00:20:44
maybe he knows her parents. And then there's some other
00:20:49
things too, like the whole thing with with Claire and her, well,
00:20:56
do I really want to go into the book stuff now?
00:20:58
I don't think I want to go into the book stuff now, so I'm going
00:21:00
to scratch that. But and we'll just we'll come
00:21:04
back and revisit that later because I know where I was going
00:21:07
to go. But there there are certain
00:21:08
things about Claire and whatever power, quote UN quote, she's
00:21:16
supposed to come into when, you know, when her hair turns white,
00:21:19
she's supposed to come into some power.
00:21:21
They do talk about that a little bit in the books, and if they're
00:21:25
going to bring that into the story for the show, that might
00:21:29
explain more about the whole Faith thing.
00:21:31
But I still don't think it's her daughter Faith that I would.
00:21:35
I would definitely say that without hesitation.
00:21:39
I don't think it's Faith. I think it's a misdirect.
00:21:41
I think it's something to either one get the fans interested or
00:21:48
get the fans pissed off. And then when you pull the Okie
00:21:51
Doke and reveal what the whole thing really was, it's kind of
00:21:55
going to be like, oh, that makes so much more sense that I that's
00:21:58
just how I feel. And I do feel like it may have a
00:22:01
blood of my blood tie in. And I kind of hope that it is so
00:22:05
that all the people who are like, actually, it's not that.
00:22:09
And then they don't know what's going on and they feel silly.
00:22:12
You know, yeah, that's the other thing about this whole thing.
00:22:17
I understand. Believe me.
00:22:18
I understand being a book purist.
00:22:20
I'm a Harry Potter fan. I mean, I understand.
00:22:24
Come on. Being a book.
00:22:25
Purist, but we're old now. We know that that does not exist
00:22:30
in adaptation. It's a different thing spinning
00:22:34
of the wheel, right? Because I mean, some things that
00:22:40
just won't translate well on screen.
00:22:44
There's so much more descriptive stuff that she does in the books
00:22:49
that it would take forever for them to do it on the show.
00:22:52
What I like a regular old season of 22 episodes a season like
00:22:58
they used to do on network TV. Absolutely.
00:23:00
You could put everything in there, but it's not gonna
00:23:03
happen. Just like the start of this
00:23:06
episode takes place almost a year from when Claire was shot
00:23:12
because the Battle of Mama took place in June 1778.
00:23:20
When we start this episode or when they're in Savannah, it's
00:23:24
1779. And it's very clear from the
00:23:28
fact that William is going out to the terrace to talk to Lady
00:23:32
Grey, which we'll get into. It's summer.
00:23:35
It's either spring or summertime.
00:23:38
You know, Rachel is very fully pregnant.
00:23:43
Yeah. For them to have a house.
00:23:45
Bill yeah. So yeah, I just think they're,
00:23:52
they're giving us something to speculate on and the, and the
00:23:54
kind of chew, you know, chew around a little bit and see
00:23:58
whether or not we're going to swallow it or spit it out.
00:24:01
And we just, we're just waiting to see because this this season
00:24:06
is a 10 episode season, They do have some time to play around
00:24:10
with this. I don't want them to play around
00:24:12
with it too much. No, but I'm, I'm noticing,
00:24:18
especially with this first episode, because I've read the
00:24:21
books and because I know some of the things that I think are
00:24:25
coming. There's certain things that if
00:24:27
you paid attention in the episodes, they focused on a lot
00:24:30
in this episode. So that kind of makes me feel
00:24:32
like, OK, they're about to get into, they're about to get into
00:24:37
some stuff. And I have a feeling it's going
00:24:39
to be the first few episodes. So we may get that answer sooner
00:24:43
than than we realize. But again, I I don't think it's
00:24:47
Faith Fraser. I just.
00:24:49
Don't. I just don't see the purpose and
00:24:53
being that cruel to Jamie and Clay, especially with everything
00:24:58
they have gone through. Why would you add this one thing
00:25:02
to the and I think it again, it's to to open that back up so
00:25:08
we can revisit again that she has other people out there, I
00:25:14
believe yeah. But when you talk about the book
00:25:17
and having issues that, and I know I just said spinning the
00:25:20
wheel because it's another the term, but we do have to think of
00:25:24
it like we have. I do believe there's different
00:25:28
versions of me, a different timeline.
00:25:32
So we had to think this is just a different timeline then the
00:25:36
book timeline. Yeah, 'cause there was a
00:25:39
decision made that spiraled off to something else.
00:25:44
Yeah. I mean, it happens with all time
00:25:46
travel. Yeah, why wouldn't it happen
00:25:48
with this? Right, that's what I'm saying.
00:25:50
So the book was written on the perspective of what happened to
00:25:54
Claire One, but we're watching Claire Five.
00:25:57
OK girl, I mean. It's what I'm talking.
00:26:02
About. So we have to think about it
00:26:04
that way. Like it's not going to be
00:26:06
directly the same. Yes, because there's different
00:26:08
nuances that you can't do from the book in in in the show and
00:26:13
those books, which I'm still trying to get through.
00:26:18
We'll be on season 30. If you were trying to include
00:26:23
everything and still keep your audience, that's kind of hard.
00:26:27
So you got to pick and choose. You got to tie things together
00:26:31
that sometimes don't fit, but you got to because you can't
00:26:34
hire 500 different people. No, no.
00:26:39
And we have to be, we have to be OK with it.
00:26:41
At least this is what we got. We got actors and actresses that
00:26:47
actually match the book. Yeah, for the most part, OK, for
00:26:51
the most. Part even if we got the scenery
00:26:54
look. At they they have the person.
00:26:57
They fit it the essence, right? They fit the essence.
00:27:01
The scenery can't get any better.
00:27:04
People can't get any better. Yeah.
00:27:07
Essence. Right?
00:27:08
The essence. What made you fall in love with
00:27:11
the books? Falling in love with the show.
00:27:14
Yeah. It's just that in the show, Mr.
00:27:17
Brown was for several episodes, but in the book he may only been
00:27:21
for two chapters. I don't know.
00:27:24
But the other thing too is when you are creating a show based on
00:27:29
worse, and this is something, this is a conversation we have
00:27:31
all the time because a lot of the stuff that we like to read
00:27:35
has been adapted, some of it for better, some of it for worse.
00:27:38
I have been talking an awful lot about Shadowhunters and the
00:27:41
Mortal Instruments in the last three months.
00:27:44
But a lot of times the showrunners, they're looking for
00:27:52
new audiences. They're they're not looking for
00:27:55
the old audience. Because let's again, let's face
00:27:58
it, if Outlander had never had a show, those book fans are still
00:28:02
going to be book fans. The book fans are die hard book
00:28:07
fans. They are going to be loyal to
00:28:09
that story no matter what. They could have never done an
00:28:12
Outlander show and the book fans would still be the book fans.
00:28:16
They would still be massive. They would still be loyal.
00:28:19
The show just puts a face to the story and it's to draw other
00:28:26
people in. Let's be honest, a lot of people
00:28:28
don't read nowadays. They don't have the time.
00:28:32
Everybody is busy trying to survive.
00:28:34
So there are some people who don't read or who don't have the
00:28:39
time to read or who don't have the luxury to read.
00:28:42
The TV show is for them, and there are some things that
00:28:47
happened in the book that I'm going to admit I had to skim
00:28:52
through and go back and read because I got bored in some
00:28:55
parts. That's 1200 pages.
00:28:59
You won't lose interest. Every once in a while, you're
00:29:01
going to lose your focus. I mean, that's why I didn't
00:29:05
finish reading. I'm I'm probably like on five.
00:29:07
I don't even remember at this point, but and I don't want to
00:29:10
start from the beginning to catch up.
00:29:11
So that's why I never. But and and that's not to say
00:29:15
the books are boring, but there's a lot of people,
00:29:17
especially when you got other stuff going on, a lot of people
00:29:20
are not going to be able to stay that focused for that long, you
00:29:24
know, so you have to find other ways to bring people into the
00:29:27
story. One of one of our friends, she
00:29:30
is listening to the audiobooks now with Kristen Atherton
00:29:34
narrating. That's the person who that's the
00:29:36
actress who came in season 7 as the new Jenny.
00:29:41
She's reading. She redid the Outlander
00:29:46
audiobooks and our friend said she she's, she was like, I love
00:29:52
to being a Porter. I love her, she said.
00:29:55
But listening to Kristen's voice and her version of the books,
00:30:00
like she's already up to Fiery Cross.
00:30:03
OK, I I don't even I'm like, when did you get time to do
00:30:06
this? She was like, girl, I've been
00:30:07
trudging along and that got her interested in going back and
00:30:12
trying to watch the show again because she never got past the
00:30:14
first season of the show. It was hard, that person.
00:30:18
It was hard, but now? She's catching up, and it's been
00:30:22
interesting watching, you know, watching it from her perspective
00:30:26
because she's like, OK, yeah, I can separate the two.
00:30:29
Yeah, they did this differently. This.
00:30:31
I like this better in the show than I like in the book, and I
00:30:34
like this better in the book than the show.
00:30:36
Like Claire, she's kind of sort of OK with her in the books now.
00:30:41
She can't stand show Claire, but she's like, I'm a watch show
00:30:44
Claire because of Jamie and because of of of what she does.
00:30:48
She was like, but she get on my nerves, especially season 1
00:30:51
Claire. I think the rest of the seasons
00:30:53
there, she's starting to wear her down.
00:30:55
But you have to find different ways to appeal to the audiences.
00:31:01
And if this is the way that they're going to appeal to
00:31:04
people who are ignorant about the story.
00:31:06
There are people who watch the show who don't know the story.
00:31:10
They don't care about what y'all said about faith.
00:31:13
They're just like, oh, we, we're going to see what the what
00:31:15
happens. I mean, think about it.
00:31:17
We are a, we are a people who indulge in fantasy and sci-fi
00:31:23
and time travel all the time. You mean to tell me they can't
00:31:28
figure some kind of way to, to come out of this?
00:31:30
I'm going to keep my mind open. I'm not going to say I hate it.
00:31:34
I I did kind of it, it, it grated on me watching this
00:31:38
episode because there was just it, it was so sudden when it
00:31:43
came in like you, you start the episode and we're immediately
00:31:47
interrogating this man and he starts saying all of this stuff
00:31:53
about the captain and how he slit his throat and how, you
00:31:57
know, he had two girls and one of the girls was too young.
00:32:01
But the other one, he was like, I don't think she has seen a
00:32:03
cock before. I stuck minding her.
00:32:05
I was like, Oh my God, he's talking about Jane.
00:32:07
It's like Claire needs to do. And you could see Claire over
00:32:10
there bubbling. And then the moment he starts
00:32:13
talking about the wife, he was like, yeah, the wife had issues
00:32:17
with me touching her daughter. So I I threw her arm.
00:32:20
You, you did what it, it was So it was, it was so much for the
00:32:28
beginning of the episode. And then, of course, after he
00:32:31
said that, you hear him, you hear his voice in Claire's mind,
00:32:35
because as he's talking, she's replaying certain phrases he's
00:32:39
saying in his head. And you can, you can see her
00:32:42
getting more and more mad. And I was like, she about to
00:32:45
punch him. No, Claire.
00:32:47
Claire was like, fuck the Hippocratic Oath.
00:32:51
I'm gonna shake you, and I'm gonna shake you in a way that I
00:32:53
know you're gonna die. You're gonna die.
00:32:55
She knows exactly what to do. She.
00:32:58
Did. So that was a lot to start the
00:33:02
episode off with. And then of course, you know,
00:33:04
they having their conversation about she was alive this whole
00:33:07
time. So I was just like, I can't
00:33:09
because I don't again, I don't believe that is Faith.
00:33:12
But to watch them go through those emotions, especially
00:33:16
Claire, like Claire sang to that dead baby, and for her to feel
00:33:23
like that child is now alive or was alive and she lost her all
00:33:28
over again, I just don't see the point in the writers doing that.
00:33:31
So it's got to be something else going on.
00:33:34
Got. To yeah, it definitely is.
00:33:39
So yeah, I understood that it it started off, it started off
00:33:46
rocky. It was.
00:33:48
It was rough. Yeah, it.
00:33:51
Was, I guess I was like, oh, we got, we got murderous Claire.
00:33:54
Well, that's fine. Yeah, 'cause it's funny you say
00:33:56
that about the Hippocratic Oath because she has treated some
00:33:59
people who deserve to die. Remember the guy who tried to
00:34:02
kill her and she said we tried to save him?
00:34:05
Yeah. So she.
00:34:07
Had definitely changed. That was early in my career, not
00:34:09
during my retirement age. That changes.
00:34:13
I I guess at this point too, she live in.
00:34:16
Yeah, I I've been through it all so.
00:34:18
Been arrested and almost hang for merch she's like I am been
00:34:22
gang raped she's been and then to now hear that her daughter
00:34:26
might have been alive and this man just callously threw her
00:34:29
overboard so that he could rape her grandchild her probable get
00:34:33
grandchild yeah I I would say because Jamie didn't even say
00:34:37
nothing he was like oh this what we doing OK he killed the other
00:34:40
guy he just looked at her I was like I assessing that we got to
00:34:43
go didn't say nothing because I mean this is Jamie we talking
00:34:47
about this is the man who calmly sat in was in Browns bedroom and
00:34:53
was like yeah I'm only nice because of my wife and my wife
00:34:57
ain't here right now you tried to take her from me.
00:35:00
Jamie was like, look, I'm gonna let her have her vengeance.
00:35:03
I'm gonna let her do because he didn't say nothing to her.
00:35:06
He understood it. I mean, there's only so many
00:35:12
things you can do. There's only so much a person
00:35:18
can take before they snap. And then you're standing here
00:35:22
behind this man. Listen, listening to how he
00:35:24
callously killed your possible son-in-law, raped one of your
00:35:30
granddaughters and said he was going to save the other one
00:35:33
because she was so young that even the smallest man would have
00:35:37
broke her. I was like I said, oh, she let
00:35:41
me tell you, this episode alone, Claire has shown some good
00:35:46
restraints. Because between this dude and
00:35:50
the old bitch that shows up later, I was like Claire.
00:35:54
Yeah, Claire, I mean, and you know, it's crazy.
00:35:56
Like I don't get triggered like a ton of stuff.
00:36:00
Like I've had my things that's happened to me in real life, but
00:36:03
I don't get triggered by a lot of stuff.
00:36:05
But him talking about them children and all the stuff
00:36:07
that's going on right now in our real world, the anger and the
00:36:13
disgust that I was feeling thinking about that because that
00:36:16
we used to say stuff like, oh, that was back in the 1700s.
00:36:20
Oh, that was back in the day. But no, it's still happening.
00:36:24
It is still happening. And it's so that I was watching
00:36:27
that and I was just disgusted. And that's.
00:36:30
Why? I said it was a lot hatred.
00:36:32
And I was just like. Oh, this is.
00:36:34
I hate this and then when she got the stab and I was like
00:36:36
thank. You, yeah.
00:36:38
Thank you. But you know what she she did
00:36:39
do, though, he said. I really need you not to be
00:36:42
spoken to, not to speak it less spoken to.
00:36:45
And guess what? She was quiet.
00:36:47
She was. She didn't say not a word.
00:36:50
Not a word, Not a word. But, you know, actions.
00:36:54
Speak louder. Yeah, it does.
00:36:56
She need to talk And I. And she said something that I
00:37:01
always say, and I feel guilty because, you know, we're, we're
00:37:05
kind of led to believe that torturing people is, is wrong
00:37:09
and very unethical. But when she said I should have
00:37:11
let him suffer a little longer, I'm like, yes, why do people
00:37:15
just kill folks and not let them drag?
00:37:17
Drag it out? Let the suffering happen for a
00:37:20
while. Especially when you've caused
00:37:21
suffering to somebody else in that way.
00:37:23
I mean, if you think about it, Jane at that time was probably
00:37:29
somewhere between 9:00 and 12:00.
00:37:31
Yeah, because what color was like what, 5?
00:37:34
Yeah, or something. So if you think about that,
00:37:39
yeah, it again, it was a lot and and granted, we didn't have to
00:37:43
see the violence. Thank God.
00:37:46
We heard it and I I'm so sorry. I'm with Claire on this one.
00:37:53
Yes, yes, yes. And if they start doing that now
00:37:56
to people, maybe this will stop, you know what I'm saying?
00:37:59
Because like. The whole other conversation.
00:38:03
Yeah. But I mean, you, you see it
00:38:05
happening in other countries. Where was it?
00:38:07
I saw one country. I can't remember because I've,
00:38:11
I've literally been kind of tuning out the news, but there's
00:38:15
a country, some country, Asia, I want to say Korea, China, one of
00:38:20
those two where they executed 3 people in the street for child
00:38:27
molestation. Yep, Yep, I do.
00:38:28
I think I remember that. You're like, oh, we're we're
00:38:30
going to show y'all that this is not acceptable.
00:38:34
OK, that best. In jail, they have a, they have
00:38:38
a crime. Not hierarchy, but they're
00:38:41
certain they do. You just don't do.
00:38:43
And that's one of them You just don't do.
00:38:47
So like it, it blows my mind and so watching, watching this stuff
00:38:51
that that was hard, 'cause I just, that poor baby and her
00:38:54
sister kept her protected all that time, you know, 'cause Oh
00:38:59
my God. Because it will even the way
00:39:01
that he even the way he talked about Jane after that he was
00:39:05
like, Oh yeah, that investment is probably still paying its,
00:39:08
you know, that I was like, oh, somebody I like Jamie had good
00:39:15
self-control. He.
00:39:16
Did. He had good self-control because
00:39:20
and, and again, this had, I think this has to do with him
00:39:22
being a military man. Yeah, he knows.
00:39:26
He notch, he, he, he can keep it down a notch because he's trying
00:39:30
to get the information. But, you know, we had to, you
00:39:34
know, that had to make him sick to sit there and have to pretend
00:39:37
like, oh, yeah. Well, whiskey is not the only
00:39:40
business I'm I'm into. I'm looking to expand.
00:39:42
Where did you get the girls? You know, his skin probably
00:39:46
crawled having to having to say those words.
00:39:50
Yeah. And the thing about Jamie, he's
00:39:52
definitely grown. Yeah, a few seasons ago he was
00:39:56
looking at Brianna Strange when she got, you know, attacked.
00:39:59
And so he has definitely grown and starting to understand stuff
00:40:02
in a different from a different lens versus being a man from
00:40:05
1700s. And I, I think that that really
00:40:09
has shown like that he's like, you know what?
00:40:12
You know we going to do what we going to do.
00:40:14
Let's go And then he didn't even like he didn't say nothing clear
00:40:17
I. Was like assassin that we got to
00:40:19
go. No, he just killed the other guy
00:40:21
and was like OK, time to go. Got to go right, just throw him
00:40:25
in he probably didn't even recover the bodies probably
00:40:28
didn't do anything. He was just like, OK, they.
00:40:30
Ain't deserve no recovery. Look, look, they are probably
00:40:34
criminals anyway. Ain't nobody going to ask.
00:40:35
They're probably going to be like, oh, they probably give
00:40:38
somebody over. Yep.
00:40:40
Right. Plus, if that miss, if that
00:40:43
misses Abbott, who ran the brothel, knows what kind of man
00:40:47
he is. Chances are whoever finds him,
00:40:49
they're going to know what kind of man he is too.
00:40:51
And they're going to be like, oh, he brought this on himself.
00:40:55
So, but OK, we're going to get away from this faith speculation
00:41:00
now 'cause I, I think we're all in agreement, the three of us,
00:41:04
that this is not Jamie and Claire's faith.
00:41:07
And we're just going, we're just going to see how the story plays
00:41:09
out. We're gonna see we don't have to
00:41:11
necessarily like it. We don't have to be comfortable
00:41:14
with it. But I'm curious enough to say,
00:41:17
OK, where are they going with this?
00:41:19
Yeah, you know, but morning after they wake up and they're
00:41:26
having their conversation and we hear children behind the door
00:41:29
now. Wait wait wait wait wait wait
00:41:32
what? And then OK, before then we have
00:41:35
our beginning credits, which y'all know I am notorious for
00:41:39
skip. Like I hear that I'll listen to
00:41:44
how the song is being. That's every show though, And
00:41:48
this time I, I was about to, I said no because I'm going to get
00:41:52
me some good hints, so let me watch this.
00:41:55
Oh, the opening credits. Yeah, the opening credits.
00:41:57
So I was like, oh, I'm so excited.
00:42:00
Oh, 'cause you know, it starts off with I'm your true home of
00:42:04
your heart. That's the last thing they were
00:42:05
talking about before we got the opening credits.
00:42:08
And the next thing I saw the Fergus sign and I was like, Oh
00:42:11
yes, I'm so excited. I'm so.
00:42:14
Glad they're back. I mean I knew they were coming
00:42:16
back because I saw the post when they were on set but still it
00:42:20
was like it made my. Heart so indeed, when I saw the
00:42:24
sounds like oh, oh, and I was thinking, oh, we go get this
00:42:28
this season. I'm so excited for this season,
00:42:30
all these kids, but it was the next the the next scene.
00:42:35
I was like, I love it. I know, I love it.
00:42:38
I'm so glad we have them. And then it's so funny because
00:42:41
Fergus has taken up printing, so he's doing a good job.
00:42:47
I like how Jamie was sitting there.
00:42:49
He he's looking at Fergus like, this is my child.
00:42:52
Let me go knocking on some, some walls.
00:42:55
What's going on? And Fergus just sitting there
00:42:58
looking at him, like, what you doing?
00:43:00
And when he finds the seditious papers, he was like, you know,
00:43:05
the British don't don't take Kylie to sedition.
00:43:07
Oh, pot, kettle. Hello.
00:43:09
Yeah. He's like, bro, I do, I'm doing
00:43:12
what you taught me to do. And and and wasn't disrespectful
00:43:17
about it at all. He was just like, I'm just doing
00:43:19
what you taught me to do. And he was like, yeah, but you
00:43:22
have a family. So did you?
00:43:24
Well, my family wasn't that Edinburgh at the time.
00:43:27
You still had a family and was there.
00:43:29
Do you see what? You see how that happened?
00:43:31
You know how that worked out for him?
00:43:33
He was in the print shop when he went, went up in flames.
00:43:37
But yeah, I, I love seeing them together.
00:43:41
We didn't get enough of them because, of course, then Jamie
00:43:44
and Claire are on their way back to the Ridge.
00:43:46
But the interesting thing about Fergus and Marsley and their
00:43:50
family, so they are in Savannah in the show.
00:43:54
In the show, they were in Wilmington.
00:43:56
So there was a lot more back and forth because I think there was
00:44:00
several trips where Jamie went from the Ridge to Savannah to
00:44:04
Wilmington back to Savannah. So I think they're cutting a lot
00:44:07
of that out and they're kind of condensing it again.
00:44:12
They only have 1010 episodes this season.
00:44:15
Go tell the bees that I Am Gone, which is the 9th book that they
00:44:18
are basing most of this series, most of this season on.
00:44:23
It's a lot. It's it's a lot.
00:44:26
So I think they're condensing some stuff.
00:44:28
So moving them to Savannah. I like it because that means
00:44:31
they're closer to Jamie and Claire, I think.
00:44:37
And then, yeah, I just, I was so happy to see them and to see all
00:44:43
the kids and to see them kind of getting along together and
00:44:46
having fun. And I'm just looking at it like,
00:44:51
we don't have enough of them in this episode.
00:44:54
It's only 10. No, we, yeah, it was really
00:44:57
quick, but I I understood they were just trying to say this is
00:45:01
what they're doing. Yeah, yeah.
00:45:05
This is their life, better be a lot more.
00:45:09
Yeah, yeah. But I, I like it because again,
00:45:12
this is them coming back to the Ridge, which again, is kind of
00:45:18
weird because you went from Philadelphia all the way to
00:45:20
Savannah and then you're going to North Carolina.
00:45:22
It's like you're doing this. But I guess you wanted to go see
00:45:26
Ferguson and Marsley first, And why they're not in Wilmington, I
00:45:30
don't know. But we got to see a lot of old
00:45:35
faces in this episode. We got to see Marsley and and
00:45:39
Ferguson, the kids. We got to see Lizzie and her,
00:45:42
well, technically not new baby 'cause she had the baby.
00:45:45
She was pregnant when Jamie and Claire left the Ridge.
00:45:49
But I think the best thing for me was the hello the house.
00:45:59
Hello. The house?
00:46:01
Yes. 'Cause we knew they were coming
00:46:05
back. We knew Rodger and Brianna and
00:46:07
the kids were coming back. We knew it.
00:46:10
But it's still, I don't know, it's kind of like to have them
00:46:15
all in one episode together. Granted, it would have been
00:46:17
great for Ferguson, Marsley and Brianna and Rodger and all of
00:46:22
them to have been together in that way.
00:46:24
But just the fact that we got to see them all and Claire and
00:46:29
Jamie is like, for them to go through what they went through,
00:46:33
thinking that Faith was a lot, was alive and then killed, and
00:46:37
then to actually reunite with Brianna and Rodger and the kids,
00:46:41
that just felt so good to me. Like we needed that.
00:46:47
And I hate to say it, I have a feeling we're we're going to
00:46:49
need that because I, I do know that there are some dark things
00:46:53
coming in this season. But of course, but of course I
00:46:57
wasn't sure what they were going to do with this season.
00:47:00
But some of the things that they introduced in this episode.
00:47:03
And again, there are certain clues that as a book reader, you
00:47:07
know, OK, some shit's about to happen.
00:47:10
I was just like, OK, I'm going to take all the, I'm going to
00:47:13
take all the feel goods I can get, but we going to go to
00:47:16
another one of Michelle's notes and Michelle's screen name
00:47:21
because. Well, the reunion, we get to the
00:47:26
reunion of the family because you know, when we saw the
00:47:30
preview and we saw her turn and be like, I really didn't even
00:47:34
think who that was. You know, I didn't think it was
00:47:37
Brianna and Rodger. I don't know why.
00:47:40
I thought it was like a surprise guest or something.
00:47:42
We gonna be like, man, that's from like five seasons ago or
00:47:46
something. No, I, I wouldn't.
00:47:47
But then it would probably be them.
00:47:49
Or it was going to be. I felt like it might be William.
00:47:53
And see, that's what I thought. Or like a surprise guest.
00:47:55
But as soon as she, as soon as she I saw the look, I didn't
00:48:00
realize who it was because the last thing we saw them was we're
00:48:04
going home. And we knew which home that
00:48:06
meant home with the family. Yeah.
00:48:09
Back in the day, but. Here's my question.
00:48:12
Where is Buck? I want my Buck.
00:48:15
Well, I mean, I know what I know what.
00:48:18
I know what happens to him in the books.
00:48:20
I know what he does in the books.
00:48:22
Was he? From what time was he?
00:48:24
I can't remember what time he was from.
00:48:25
He was from the 17th. He was from a few years before
00:48:28
that. Before where they are now.
00:48:32
OK, he. Disappeared in oh, matter of
00:48:36
fact, the the year before that. He disappeared in 1778, OK.
00:48:41
Well, he hanging out with mom and dad.
00:48:43
At Craig and Dune. I want Buck to be in this
00:48:49
timeline with them because I loved that that bromance that he
00:48:55
and Rodger had. Like I really loved what they
00:48:57
did with those two characters and how they kind of built that
00:49:01
bond. And I'm, I'm kind of sad now
00:49:04
because I feel like Rodger needs someone that's, even though
00:49:08
that's technically his like great, great, great, great,
00:49:11
great grandfather, he's closer to his age than Jamie is.
00:49:15
And I feel like Rodger needs that sometimes.
00:49:18
He needs someone that's, that's closer to his age that he can,
00:49:21
you know, that he can confide in and that he can, you know, have
00:49:25
around. And I'm, I'm a little sad that
00:49:27
Buck's not there. And Buck knew he can't keep
00:49:30
traveling to his heart condition, which is why he
00:49:32
needed to just make that one last trip and just be known with
00:49:35
it. He could have.
00:49:37
What is he gonna do in the 1930s?
00:49:39
He is out of place. I guess he'll adapt.
00:49:45
And I guess he'll just watch his mom and his daddy from afar.
00:49:49
Cause yeah, but I wanted him back.
00:49:53
I was hoping that would be a change that they would make from
00:49:55
the books, so I'm a little sad about that.
00:49:59
But we do get the kids. Claire and Jamie finally get to
00:50:03
meet Mandy, which is great. And.
00:50:06
Jimmy is huge. That kid has grown so much.
00:50:10
Yes. Jamie was like Jeremiah, you got
00:50:13
so tall. Oh.
00:50:14
Yeah, you can be all of us. He's almost high teenager now,
00:50:18
right? Right.
00:50:21
But OK, let's let's let's talk about, let's talk about.
00:50:24
Brianna, because here we go, Here we go.
00:50:29
OK, so we. Had a note from Bri.
00:50:30
Bri. First you got a you got a
00:50:32
Raggedy Andy doll, A Raggedy and doll.
00:50:40
So we have to go back in the day when she was making things too.
00:50:43
So we gonna, you know, I'm OK with her bringing.
00:50:47
I'm over. I'm really OK with her bringing
00:50:50
her Mama book because you know her mom.
00:50:52
Claire did the same thing when she came back.
00:50:54
You know, I'm saying she made that outfit with all the
00:50:57
pockets. She had medicine.
00:50:59
I understand that because Claire, guess what will hide it
00:51:03
if Claire has to, she would eat the pages so nobody will know
00:51:07
where that book came from. But no, your daughter does this
00:51:12
instead of creating a book, you know the book.
00:51:15
So you could create some books for your child when you get to
00:51:19
the past, but instead you bring the most colorful book of all
00:51:24
and popular Goodnight Moon. I said, you know what?
00:51:29
I had this pause and write Goodnight Moon on the piece of
00:51:32
paper that damn Brianna bringing all this shit again.
00:51:38
Why they they brought that book? Because in the book it was 1
00:51:43
fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish that.
00:51:45
Was That's even worse in the book.
00:51:48
Gotta bring a Doctor Seuss book. Oh my goodness.
00:51:51
Oh. She brought and then she
00:51:52
brought. Lord of the Doggone rings so.
00:51:54
It's I know I love that though. Sis, they have to hide this
00:51:58
stuff from regular people. Right, they too.
00:52:00
We're in the theater cracking up when when we saw The Lord of the
00:52:05
Rings. Because of course, if you read
00:52:06
the books, you know she brings these things.
00:52:08
And even even when I read the book, I was like, Lord, was the
00:52:13
was the matches not enough of a a of a?
00:52:16
The airplane you know, you know. But it's it's the airplane that
00:52:20
could that could be a figment of your imagination.
00:52:22
The fact that you created matches and those matches were
00:52:25
what burned down your parents house.
00:52:27
Correct? Can y'all please stop trying to
00:52:30
incorporate the future into the past?
00:52:33
Why would you bring those books? Bring a roll of toilet tissue if
00:52:36
you're going to bring something. Some more penicillin.
00:52:40
I'm I'm just. Saying something useful, and
00:52:43
granted that's the Merc manual is great, but it was so funny
00:52:47
because Jamie opened it up and he read a passage.
00:52:49
He was like, so you mean to tell me in your time, the most that
00:52:53
they've learned from their medical training is not to put
00:52:56
shit in your mouth? But which is funny because what
00:53:03
he doesn't understand is they was dying from from shit in
00:53:08
their mouth that they didn't realize was in their mouth.
00:53:10
And so that's what's funny about him is just like he takes
00:53:13
everything super literal and doesn't you know, he just like
00:53:16
this is ridiculous. This is stupid.
00:53:18
I'm like. Bro, that's the kind of thing
00:53:19
that happens when you don't have toilet tissue.
00:53:22
You should have bought some toilet tissue, some bottled
00:53:24
waters or something, I don't know.
00:53:27
No, I wouldn't have been bottled because what?
00:53:29
They were in, what, the 80s? When they were back?
00:53:32
Were they in the 80s? Yeah, OK.
00:53:34
But still, you don't want to bring plastic to the 1700s.
00:53:37
Right now that it wouldn't have probably been you.
00:53:39
Think he was going to a witch trial back in the early 1700s?
00:53:43
You definitely would then, 'cause they'll be looking like,
00:53:45
what the hell is this? But then the interesting book
00:53:50
comes out. Rihanna has brought another book
00:53:54
with her to the past and she gives it to Claire.
00:53:57
And Claire looks at it and the title of the book is Soul of a
00:54:01
Rebel and what was it, the Scott, the Scottish The Scottish
00:54:07
Participation in the American Revolution or The Scottish
00:54:09
Contribution to the American Revolution?
00:54:12
Written by 1. Franklin W, Randall P Just.
00:54:18
How about I didn't remember that she never told him that
00:54:23
Blackjack and Frank looked the way?
00:54:25
Why would she they? They were.
00:54:27
I didn't remember that. It was.
00:54:29
I didn't either. And I thought, I thought.
00:54:32
You would. I just knew.
00:54:35
No, I. Thought you would, Mitch, that
00:54:38
pillow talk. No, no.
00:54:41
Because why would you? Why would you tell the man that
00:54:44
you love, the man that you stayed behind to, to stay with
00:54:48
the man whose child you bore, the man who you left and came
00:54:52
back to and all this other stuff?
00:54:54
Why would you tell him that the person you are going to the
00:54:58
future to see, the person that is going to be raising your
00:55:02
child, is the very replica of the man who tortured and raped
00:55:08
him there? There will be no reason for her
00:55:10
to tell him that it's not. No, but you can say that there's
00:55:13
similar. You could because she even says
00:55:16
she even said it. Like, I didn't even think that
00:55:18
because I knew he was like, in the beginning, it was like, oh,
00:55:23
they, they look close. But because Frank is so
00:55:26
different, he looks different to me.
00:55:29
But she could have that's a pillow tie right there.
00:55:32
Like, you know, 'cause you say they related, you know, we can't
00:55:35
and they do look similar like that.
00:55:37
Never. Why?
00:55:38
Would you have? Pillow Well, you should have
00:55:40
said it before he got the book cover.
00:55:42
OK, just should have said it before he got the book cover.
00:55:44
But she, but she. Didn't she Didn't know?
00:55:47
But thinking about Jamie though, I feel like too one of the
00:55:50
reasons she also didn't tell Jamie back in the day, because
00:55:52
Jamie was still super naive and immature and I think a lot of
00:55:56
stuff she wouldn't tell Jamie just because of that.
00:55:58
I just never thought about the fact that they never discussed
00:56:01
that. Like you literally are looking
00:56:03
at your husband's face every time you see this man.
00:56:05
You know, this man did this horrible stuff to your the man
00:56:08
you other man you in love with, and he did horrible stuff with
00:56:11
you and he was going to do more horrible stuff if he has that
00:56:14
kept living right. And then it's like, but he was
00:56:16
just like, yo, man, I don't know.
00:56:18
I just, I don't know. At some point I just probably
00:56:20
would have mentioned that I don't know that I would
00:56:22
necessarily have sat in in a bed.
00:56:24
Yeah. And I.
00:56:26
And I, it was different. It would have been different if
00:56:30
it was the other way around. Like I know Claire told Frank
00:56:36
about what Jamie looked like, but she kind of would have had
00:56:39
to because her daughter ends up looking just like him.
00:56:44
So it's kind of like you kind of got to give the man at least a
00:56:47
warning. OK, This is, this is what's
00:56:49
about to happen. I'm, I'm pregnant with this
00:56:51
child, with this man, so you might be seeing a little bit of
00:56:56
him. And, you know, the other things
00:56:58
that Brianna says, like, you couldn't look at me without
00:57:00
seeing him. Like, yes, it was very much true
00:57:02
for Claire because that was a reminder for her of what she
00:57:06
left behind for Jamie, for her to say.
00:57:10
Oh, yeah. By the way, Frank is the
00:57:13
spitting image of Frank Randall. Can you imagine Jamie having
00:57:19
that in his head, that at one point Claire was actually
00:57:23
married to and in love with someone that looked like the
00:57:28
person who tortured him? I I don't think that would be
00:57:31
something like Jamie is a strong person, but I think that would
00:57:35
be too much for him. And I do agree that would be too
00:57:39
much for him, but I'm still going for the fact that what she
00:57:41
said, I don't even think she even realized that there are
00:57:46
twins pretty much. That's because it's not like in
00:57:51
in the books, they're not. They actually they don't.
00:57:53
They don't even look. That much alike.
00:57:56
Yeah, because. And the reason.
00:57:58
And they probably do, but for her, I get it.
00:58:02
Like the way he looks, it's not going to be the same.
00:58:07
Yeah, because let's let's be. They resemble the.
00:58:11
You can tell that they're relatives.
00:58:13
Like for her, she's like, oh, I know they're relatives.
00:58:16
And at first, almost thought it was Frank, but like, the
00:58:19
mannerism, how he treats people is like, it's so different.
00:58:21
I didn't even think about it. So she may have been like, I
00:58:25
just didn't think they looked like that.
00:58:26
Yeah, yeah. And then for Jamie, like.
00:58:29
His mind, it has been years in his mind for the yeah, he does.
00:58:34
He does. So any he he sees it.
00:58:38
Oh, I'm on that scene now. And he's like, well, they'll,
00:58:41
that's who I have. Sometimes I have dreams about,
00:58:45
not in a good way, but you know what I'm saying?
00:58:47
Sometimes that comes out and he still sees them.
00:58:50
But that's not what she sees. She walked up behind him and put
00:58:53
her hands on his shoulders. Right when he heard Frank's
00:58:56
voice in this. I was like, hold up, we're not
00:58:58
going to do this scene ghost shit again.
00:59:00
Like we, we y'all lying around us.
00:59:03
Out. Yeah.
00:59:05
So yeah. So like for her, she's like, no,
00:59:08
like that Frank. My Frank is a different Frank.
00:59:11
I see the Frank as the father who's caring.
00:59:14
Like she don't see. Yeah, they are so much alike.
00:59:18
Even though we give Frank a hard time and.
00:59:20
We I do I do I, but I. Didn't I didn't dislike Frank.
00:59:25
I just, I was so into the hot, you know, sexy, you know.
00:59:30
Yeah, but I had to throw Frank to the curb.
00:59:33
Yeah. I don't like Frank 'cause I
00:59:34
know. Book Frank.
00:59:36
I know and I don't know book Frank.
00:59:39
I know misunderstood Frank. Book Frank is much though.
00:59:44
He just misunderstood. Even if I read he just
00:59:48
misunderstood. You gotta understand his life
00:59:51
has gone a different direction. Book Frank was a hoe he.
00:59:57
Had to be his wife, don't want him.
01:00:00
That's not fair, but I think it's not fair.
01:00:02
He wasn't been no whole declare tried with him.
01:00:06
You can't try like that. He was trying to sleep with me.
01:00:10
We already said this before. He already know when he slept
01:00:14
with Claire after Jamie. There's it's a difference.
01:00:18
He slept with Claire before. It'd be different if this was
01:00:21
his first time sleeping with Claire was after Jamie, but he
01:00:24
slept with her beforehand so he knows when she's connected to
01:00:28
someone. She slept with them after, and
01:00:31
she could pretend all she want to.
01:00:35
Yeah, OK. But it wasn't coming out right.
01:00:39
So you know what that man was like.
01:00:41
I ain't even fooling with her. I ain't fooling with her.
01:00:45
But I'm going to. I'm going to stay here.
01:00:47
I'll. Take care of this baby.
01:00:48
Take care of this child that ain't even mine.
01:00:51
But you know what? A man that you be.
01:00:55
She probably called Jamie name out in her sleep a few times.
01:00:58
You don't know. I mean, she was sitting in the
01:01:00
bed, pleasuring herself right next to him.
01:01:05
So in the book. No in the.
01:01:07
Show OK, 'cause if she also did that in the book and you
01:01:10
wondering why he a hoe? We gotta, we gotta, we gotta
01:01:14
think about some things, you know, I don't.
01:01:16
I don't remember that far back because it's been a while since
01:01:20
I read those earlier books. But even in the show, it's it's
01:01:23
one of those things, those things where I feel like Frank
01:01:28
could have given her more time because, I mean, this is a woman
01:01:32
who not only, yeah, she fell in love with another man.
01:01:36
That's something that you got to deal with.
01:01:40
This woman was in a whole different time period.
01:01:44
This woman went through wars, she went through assaults.
01:01:48
She went through losing a child. If he had been a little more
01:01:54
patient with her instead of forcing the issue, like, you
01:01:57
really gonna see him get upset because she has her eyes closed
01:02:00
during sex? Really.
01:02:02
Like you could have just gave her a little bit, yeah, but
01:02:07
could have worked out a little bit better for you.
01:02:09
You could have been a little bit more happy.
01:02:11
Right. But we can say the same thing.
01:02:14
We can say the same thing with her too.
01:02:16
You have to. Yeah, we can say the same thing.
01:02:19
But she but at least she she tried.
01:02:22
She. Tried and he and the sad part is
01:02:24
he did try too and it just didn't work out and.
01:02:28
Like in the show too, you could tell that they had kind of kind
01:02:32
of was even before she would be hot back, you know, back in time
01:02:35
that you could tell that even though they were in love, they
01:02:38
were they have been away from each other for so long because
01:02:40
of the war that they had already been kind of pulled apart so.
01:02:44
So Frank is like 12 years older than her if I'm not mistaken, so
01:02:52
that could have been a thing too.
01:02:53
I mean, yeah, that's that's a whole.
01:02:56
That's a whole. You see what I'm saying?
01:02:57
This would cause no matter. It's just a tragedy because she
01:03:01
can't be with who she want to be with.
01:03:04
And she only went back to protect her child.
01:03:08
And then he can't have who he had in The Who he fell in love
01:03:12
with. Yeah.
01:03:12
He with someone who would never love him.
01:03:15
Yeah. And if she did love him, it's
01:03:17
just a peace and not the love that you everyone wants to get
01:03:22
from someone. Yeah, yeah, it's understood now.
01:03:27
I don't know the stuff he doing with these books and and all the
01:03:30
things he does on the side, but you know, so.
01:03:35
So let's talk about curious. He he got curious.
01:03:39
That's all I can say. He got curious.
01:03:42
Let's talk about this book because again, this is a book
01:03:46
Claire had no knowledge of because this was published after
01:03:50
she and Brianna left the first time or the second, one of them
01:03:55
times after Claire went back, this was published afterwards,
01:04:00
so probably sometime in the 70s or in the 80s.
01:04:04
It was published posthumously for Frank.
01:04:07
So she had no clue about this book.
01:04:10
And Jamie is is reading it because of course it's talking
01:04:15
about the Scottish culture in the North Carolinas, just
01:04:20
talking about how the Scott, how the Scottish contributed to the
01:04:23
American Revolution. So it's it's really speaking to
01:04:27
him, which of course strikes everyone weird because they're
01:04:29
like, did Frank at that point, you got to say, did Frank know
01:04:35
something? Because, yeah, Frank was a
01:04:37
historian. He did his research.
01:04:39
But for him to do research that is so specific and so close to
01:04:46
what Claire experienced you, you had to kind of figure like, OK,
01:04:51
something is going on with this. Like he's doing this for a
01:04:54
reason. And then when they're having the
01:04:57
conversation and he asked her about Frank, he was like, why
01:05:00
didn't you ever tell me that Frank and Blackjack Randall
01:05:03
looked alike? It's just like, you know, I
01:05:05
never thought about it because like you said, Michelle, he they
01:05:09
were two different people. You know, like I said, we rag on
01:05:13
Frank all we want, but Frank really was for the most part, a
01:05:16
kind person until you piss them off, right?
01:05:19
Right. Blackjack Randall just had he
01:05:23
had evil coming out of his ears, except for when it came to his
01:05:27
brother. It's it's like they were exact
01:05:30
opposites. You know what I'm saying?
01:05:34
But then he asked her. He says, can Frank be trusted?
01:05:38
Can I trust him? And Claire is looking like
01:05:41
that's a weird question to ask. Like Frank is dead and 200 years
01:05:47
in the future. Dad, what are you talking about?
01:05:50
And Jamie is like, I've been reading his book, and so far,
01:05:55
he's mentioned the name James Fraser 14 times.
01:06:00
Claire's like, excuse me, what do you mean?
01:06:02
Like, what is he saying? And he drops the bomb on her,
01:06:07
which is crazy because early in the episode, he was talking
01:06:10
about, oh, I don't care what the war does, I'm done with it.
01:06:14
I was like, OK, famous last words, Jamie Fraser.
01:06:18
What does the book say? The book says that war will come
01:06:22
to the Backcountry in a year's time and that James Fraser dies
01:06:26
in it. I know Claire was like how many
01:06:30
lives is this 123? Right, 'cause we have died in
01:06:33
the fire already before. He's died in the fire.
01:06:36
He died on a boat. He technically should have died
01:06:40
from a snake. From a snake bite.
01:06:44
He should have died at colliding.
01:06:45
He like at this point, how many lives does Jamie Fraser have
01:06:50
left? Because you know.
01:06:52
Messing up the timeline. Jamie is jacking the timeline.
01:06:55
He he should have been dead a long time ago.
01:06:57
Claire keeps saying and and using her modern medicine when
01:07:02
he should have died from something else.
01:07:04
And you know, yeah. Listen, I'm.
01:07:07
I'm just. But yeah, OK, so that's the big
01:07:10
bombshell. Frank says that Jamie's gonna
01:07:14
die in about a year's time. So I'm like, I remember reading
01:07:18
that in the book. And I was just like, if you kill
01:07:23
Jamie, if you kill him, I'm gonna be so mad.
01:07:29
I will be so mad. But it's like we already see
01:07:35
things are different on the Ridge.
01:07:37
When they come back, they come back in, in and the, the people
01:07:44
on the Ridge, they rebuilt Claire and Jamie a new house,
01:07:48
really nice house. They have a trading post now by
01:07:52
the by the meetinghouse and they've got all this kind of
01:07:56
stuff going on. And we, we have Hiram Crombie,
01:08:03
who I was like, what was the last time that we saw him?
01:08:06
Was that like, I guess it was season 7 but he was one of the
01:08:10
Fisher folk I think. Or he might have been one of the
01:08:14
ARS mirror man. I don't remember at this point,
01:08:17
but. He called him Mcdoo, didn't he?
01:08:20
No, that was Evan Lindsay. Oh, Evan Yeah.
01:08:24
Called him Mcdoo. Yeah, he, he's one of the ARS
01:08:26
Mirror man. So yeah, I think Howard probably
01:08:28
was one of Tom Christie's people, one of the Fisher folk.
01:08:32
Oh yeah. But yeah, that that was
01:08:35
something else. That was kind of condensed
01:08:37
because the whole thing with Amy McCallum being Amy Lindsay, now
01:08:41
we kind of see that relationship take its course in the books.
01:08:47
So here it's like, oh, they got married while Claire and Jamie
01:08:50
were gone. OK cool so you have them with
01:08:55
this little trading post and it looks cool.
01:08:58
It's very weird because Jamie and Claire are like OK y'all did
01:09:01
a lot while we were gone like. Like a lot.
01:09:04
Y'all built a store, y'all got whole mansion, whole bunch of
01:09:08
stuff going on, which is cool. But then you get this new dude
01:09:11
who comes in and he seems very charming at 1st.
01:09:16
And it's so funny because when when he introduces himself
01:09:20
Charles Cunningham and he talks to Jamie and he's getting ready
01:09:24
to leave and Jamie was like, Oh well, I'll walk out with you.
01:09:27
Him and Claire exchanged a look. Like, I ain't too sure about
01:09:30
this dude. And I think Jamie already at
01:09:34
that point probably suspected him of being a British soldier
01:09:38
because I know Jamie was probably going through that
01:09:40
mental rolodex in his mind. Like, I don't remember any
01:09:43
Captain Cunningham's on the rebellion side.
01:09:50
So then they, they're having that conversation.
01:09:52
He was like, yeah, after, after 30 years of serving in His
01:09:58
Majesty's Army, Jamie Stoppen was like, so a year ago we would
01:10:05
have been on the battlefield against each other.
01:10:08
That dude was like, look, I don't like war any more than
01:10:12
anybody else does. I'm I'm glad to be done with it.
01:10:15
I'm retired. I'm, I'm through.
01:10:18
Jamie was like, yeah, we gonna have to keep an eye on him.
01:10:23
I was just like, OK. And then his mother shows up.
01:10:30
Listen. Honey.
01:10:33
Listen, I have never wanted Claire to punch somebody so much
01:10:43
in my life, not even Lionel Brown.
01:10:47
How dare you come up to the house?
01:10:50
You don't even know the people who are who are there, who are
01:10:53
living there. You come to speak to Mandy.
01:10:55
It's like, where's your father? You start just being nasty.
01:11:00
To her nasty talking about. Nancy talking about just and
01:11:03
yeah, slaughter. I was like, wait a second,
01:11:05
listen, hold on a second, I. Wanted Jamie and or Claire at
01:11:11
this point I wouldn't care less. You know what, Jamie?
01:11:14
If you need to slap a woman for putting her hands on your
01:11:17
grandchild, by all means slap her 'cause.
01:11:20
How you going to be mad about a child being rude when you came
01:11:22
up here? Nasty as you want to be, just
01:11:25
being natural. Hands on a child you don't know.
01:11:28
And don't even know this baby that would have.
01:11:32
Been like eviction notice. Right, take your Mama and her
01:11:37
witchy ass on somewhere that made me saying.
01:11:40
Wicky, Wicky, listen. And Mandy had it right because
01:11:46
again, as soon as she came on the screen, all I saw was the
01:11:49
black bonnet. I was in the theater and I just
01:11:54
looked at this guy. I said this bitch here, my
01:11:59
friend who was sitting next to me, she just started laughing.
01:12:02
She said, oh, I take it you are well acquainted with this woman.
01:12:05
I was like, girl, you have no idea.
01:12:08
I'll see. And that's another thing when
01:12:11
when the new characters came, all in my mind, I was thinking,
01:12:15
OK, I have to ask Hanukkah on the side.
01:12:17
Nina, I need to know what happened in the book.
01:12:20
Is this somebody that I'm gonna have to have a issue with?
01:12:24
And now you tell me I am. She's going to be irritating.
01:12:30
She's going to be irritating because.
01:12:34
Going to hell. She's she one of those religious
01:12:39
folks. And then again, like, like her
01:12:41
son said, her son fought on the British side.
01:12:45
They know that Jamie is a rebel. And if Frank is talking about
01:12:50
wars coming to the Backcountry, that means that at some point
01:12:54
they're going to be on opposite sides again.
01:12:57
But yeah, she, she's one of those characters.
01:12:59
Like, she can be a nasty piece of work, but then she'll do
01:13:03
something like drop off some cincona bark and just turn
01:13:06
around and walk off. And it's like, huh.
01:13:11
Because she she really does give mixed signals.
01:13:13
Like she's nasty. And then she'll do something
01:13:16
nice here, and then she's really nasty and she'll do something
01:13:19
kind of sort of nice there. Or she's one of those mixed
01:13:22
bags. But it's kind of like, I don't
01:13:28
know, because I was going to compare her to Medina Bug and
01:13:30
say she's like Medina Bug on steroids.
01:13:32
But but Missus Bug was actually a sweet old lady.
01:13:35
She was only nasty to people that she didn't like and that,
01:13:39
you know, threaten, threaten around the phrases.
01:13:41
She was like, OK, whatever. I don't like you.
01:13:44
No, this this woman here is, I don't know.
01:13:47
It's like she wakes up with a lump of coal in her socks every
01:13:50
morning. She, I don't know, she's nasty,
01:13:53
but you can just tell it even from her brief introduction on
01:13:57
the screen. Like, I'm not gonna like this
01:13:59
bitch. I'm not gonna like her.
01:14:02
So, yeah. But yeah, I, I really wanted
01:14:06
somebody to hit her. I at this point, I would have
01:14:10
been OK with Mandy getting her. I was going to say it could.
01:14:12
Have been Mandy and she would have desired.
01:14:14
Mandy, all I got all, all I'm going to say is that she gets
01:14:19
lucky. Brianna wasn't there because
01:14:21
Brianna would have hauled off and hit her and she Lucky Claire
01:14:26
and a black Mama because it would have been all over.
01:14:29
It would have been all over. You come up on my property.
01:14:34
My property my and. Talking nasty to my
01:14:37
granddaughter, Who you, you don't even know.
01:14:39
You just like, where's your father?
01:14:42
You. As far as you know, I don't even
01:14:44
exist. Nobody, even nobody on the Ridge
01:14:47
even knows I'm back. They don't even know who I am
01:14:49
because I was still a baby when Brianna left with me.
01:14:52
So nobody really knows who she is.
01:14:55
You come up, you get nasty with her and then you slap her and
01:15:00
then you got the nerve to mouth off to her grandmother, her
01:15:06
bitch. Please.
01:15:08
When I say yeah, I was ready. I was like, OK, I was like,
01:15:13
Brianna, where you at? I know you hiding around the
01:15:15
corner somewhere. No, because her child with her
01:15:19
parents and she trusts her parents.
01:15:20
But I'm sorry, I think Claire and Jamie are getting them.
01:15:23
Well, I don't know if I want to say Claire's getting a little
01:15:25
too nice considering she shanked somebody in the beginning of the
01:15:28
episode, but. You could have done a lot of her
01:15:31
harm was done for the episode. I I guess, but that slap would
01:15:36
not that that would have been a love tap.
01:15:38
She would have been all right, she would have been alright.
01:15:42
Because I get, I guarantee you. She slapped Mandy hard.
01:15:48
Let me tell you, I was ready to fight.
01:15:53
I was ready to fight. Oh my God, I was ready to fight.
01:16:00
Like, why are you in my face, old lady?
01:16:01
Just stand over there and just wait.
01:16:04
Maybe I'll go get a grown person.
01:16:06
But that's not how you came. You ain't come right, ma'am.
01:16:09
Yeah, she she going to be a character this season.
01:16:13
I can, I can tell you now. But we'll get into a little more
01:16:16
detail about her couple of episodes on.
01:16:19
But let's step away from the Ridge 'cause we we got to talk
01:16:23
about my boy William, my PO baby.
01:16:32
He does not handle grief and and and trauma and and
01:16:36
disappointment well. Also he he got back about my
01:16:40
Lord John Gray because I do not like how he treats his daddy
01:16:43
and. But you know what?
01:16:45
No. John Gray handled that because
01:16:48
he, I think he's been giving William leeway because he's
01:16:51
like, OK, this boy just found out that his father is not who
01:16:54
he said he was. He is not who he said he was.
01:16:57
He had to go find the girl that he was kind of sort of in love
01:16:59
with, you know, had committed suicide because he didn't quote
01:17:03
UN quote, do what he was supposed to do to protect her.
01:17:06
I think Lord John has just been kind of giving William some
01:17:09
grace. But at the end when William was
01:17:12
saying all this stuff and he was like, look, I don't care what
01:17:16
you decide to call yourself, whether you going to be Ransom
01:17:19
Gray or Fraser, you going to go apologize to this girl, right?
01:17:23
This girl being right, This girl being Amaranthus Gray, Who is
01:17:31
the cousin? I mean, who is the wife of
01:17:34
Williams? Cousin Ben, who we have not met
01:17:37
in the show, but we have met Ben's father and we have met his
01:17:40
brother. He is the son of Lord John's
01:17:44
brother Hal, and he is the brother of Henry, the soldier
01:17:49
who was injured last season, who was in love with Mercy Wilcock.
01:17:54
So that's Ben is the older brother.
01:17:58
So apparently Ben was captured by rebel forces, caught some
01:18:05
kind of infection while he was being held prisoner and died.
01:18:10
And this young lady who claims to be his wife, shows up on Lord
01:18:14
John's doorstep with the baby, you know, claiming that she's
01:18:17
destitute because of what happened to her husband.
01:18:19
Lord John takes her in. Of course, when we first
01:18:22
introduced to all of this, Lord John is dealing with the baby,
01:18:26
and British soldiers are bringing a very, very drunk
01:18:29
William to the house. And when William looked at the
01:18:33
baby, he's the Lord John was like he just he's the baby is
01:18:38
teething. And William was like yours,
01:18:41
Lord. I was like, surely you just
01:18:43
like, excuse me, No, who? Who would I have baby with?
01:18:47
But I forget that William doesn't know about his father.
01:18:50
So he, you know, William has to deal with this new baby and
01:18:57
finding out that his cousin is dead.
01:18:59
And then, you know, he's basically calling the girl a
01:19:03
trollop, like, oh, she's an opportunist.
01:19:05
She shows up on your doorstep with a baby and claims it's Benz
01:19:08
and you don't know and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:19:11
And in comes the lady in question and she promptly goes
01:19:14
off on William. So that's when Laura John was
01:19:17
like, look, I don't care what kind of situation you in what he
01:19:22
tell. He said he was trying to get
01:19:25
William to go to dinner with him at one of the British officers
01:19:30
houses. And William was like, I know
01:19:32
what you're trying to do. I don't understand why you're
01:19:34
trying to get back in the army when you didn't like me being
01:19:37
out of it. And Lord John was like self pity
01:19:39
and wallowing does not suit you. Like you've been a drunk for a
01:19:43
year. I need you to get your shit
01:19:45
together and go back to England, right?
01:19:47
Right. And do something.
01:19:48
Do something with yourself. Right out in the streets acting
01:19:52
a fool. Right.
01:19:53
And, and I get it. He's still upset about the whole
01:19:57
Jane thing. And then, of course, last season
01:19:59
we find out Ezekiel Richardson is a traitor.
01:20:03
He's a turncoat. And he also tried to have
01:20:05
William kill so well, he has a lot on his plate right now
01:20:09
because he's also actively trying to find Ezekiel
01:20:12
Richardson. But Lord John was like, look.
01:20:18
I understand you upset, I understand you going through an
01:20:21
identity crisis, but whatever the fuck you decide to call your
01:20:24
name, you going to go apologize to that girl?
01:20:26
He was like, because I don't care who you are, what you
01:20:29
decide to call yourself, no father would allow you to talk
01:20:32
to that woman that way. And I insist you going right
01:20:35
yourself. I said, oh, there's the Jamaica
01:20:37
governor right there. Because you were raised better.
01:20:42
Pretty much you were raised better.
01:20:44
Stern when he wants to be. I was like, oh, I like this.
01:20:50
He turns around and walks out. And then you see William cleaned
01:20:54
up. He goes to talk to Amaranthus
01:20:57
and you know, he's, he's a lot nicer to her.
01:21:00
He apologizes to her. They share some nice words about
01:21:03
Ben. And I'm just sitting here
01:21:04
looking like this is going to be an interesting story.
01:21:06
I'm just, that's all I'm going to tell y'all.
01:21:08
Our story is interesting. And I don't know how much of the
01:21:12
book stuff for her they're going to put in the show.
01:21:17
If they do, we going to meet a whole lot more Laura John's
01:21:20
family. And it's about to get really,
01:21:22
really interesting. I don't trust the trailer.
01:21:27
How? But I was OK.
01:21:29
You know what my first thought was?
01:21:31
What? Please don't fall for her.
01:21:33
I mean, I need him not to get seconds.
01:21:35
You already know. That was about to happen.
01:21:39
I'm I'm. But I need him to fall in love
01:21:41
with someone original who don't have a kid, who ain't in love
01:21:44
with someone else. I.
01:21:46
Can't even get possible on it. Yeah, like can y'all give him a
01:21:51
love of his own? No.
01:21:55
Oh man, I knew it. As soon as soon as she came in,
01:22:00
I was like, he gonna fall for her.
01:22:02
Here we go again. His cousin's chick.
01:22:06
Really. That's a allegedly.
01:22:09
That's a complicated story. I I bet it is, but I don't care.
01:22:13
I just need him not I just need him to find his his own person.
01:22:18
I don't know. The last time he found his own
01:22:20
person, it didn't, it didn't work out for him.
01:22:21
So I, I don't know, I think, I think William well.
01:22:26
He needs to find himself. Yes, that's what I was going to
01:22:30
say. I think he needs to mature.
01:22:32
And like you said, he he can't, he can't know how to act if he
01:22:37
doesn't know who he is. And I do agree with him on that.
01:22:40
You know, for, for everything that we say, William has gone
01:22:43
through a complete identity up haul in the last year.
01:22:50
He's he's, he's in, in an upheaval.
01:22:53
He doesn't know if he's a great, if he's a ransom, if he's a
01:22:57
Fraser. Like there's so many things
01:23:00
about him that he doesn't know, so many things that I think he's
01:23:03
been told about who he was. The now he's questioning even
01:23:08
the conversation he had with Jamie last season when he was
01:23:11
asking about his mother. And he said, you know, they,
01:23:16
I've seen pictures of my mother. They told me she was beautiful
01:23:19
and reckless and wild and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:23:22
And Jamie was like all the people that knew her.
01:23:25
They only ever told you bad stuff about her.
01:23:28
They didn't tell you the good stuff about her.
01:23:30
So if this is all you've grown up hearing your entire life and
01:23:36
the one person who you're kind of sort of mad at for abandoning
01:23:40
you is telling you you no, your mother was kind, she was bold,
01:23:44
she was curious, she was courageous.
01:23:48
How do you take that? Especially if you're somebody
01:23:51
who I, if I remember correctly, I think William is supposed to
01:23:54
be about 17 ish, technically 1718 somewhere around there.
01:23:59
So you're still immature. 1 Two, you just had all this stuff
01:24:06
happened to you with your identity, find that you're not
01:24:09
who you think you are. Three, you've also had the
01:24:12
tragedy and the trauma on top of all of that.
01:24:17
So when do you need to take some time?
01:24:19
He need to go touch some grass and just kind of learn who he
01:24:24
is. Well, that's the problem I had
01:24:27
with him though, because the person you want, the person
01:24:31
who's going to probably be the best.
01:24:33
Person for you to learn who you are.
01:24:35
You treat like shit and you don't talk to him and then you
01:24:40
know, because your dad can tell you who you are based on how he
01:24:43
raised you, right? Like Lord John.
01:24:45
I mean, he could just be like, well, you were like this when I
01:24:47
started raising you, blah, blah, blah.
01:24:49
But you really need to talk to Jamie because when you was
01:24:51
running around as a little kid, Jamie was your homeboy.
01:24:54
Like he knows from birth. But you you treat him like he I
01:24:59
will never he never asked for that.
01:25:01
He didn't ask for that. But like and like you said,
01:25:04
because he's young, he's immature, he's angry, but he's
01:25:07
not going to learn who he is until he talks to Jamie because
01:25:10
he can't talk to nobody else because his family don't even
01:25:13
know. And Laura John and Jamie is the
01:25:15
only one that know from that group of people.
01:25:17
So who he go? He going to have to talk to
01:25:18
Jamie. So I, I hope that I hope that
01:25:21
his relationship, what we see of him now with Lord John, it looks
01:25:26
like for the most part they have mended their relationship
01:25:29
because he was mad at Lord John too.
01:25:31
So I'm hoping that means that he will come around, especially now
01:25:36
that, you know, you think about Jamie.
01:25:39
You're like, OK, Yeah. This is the person who is my
01:25:42
father. Yeah.
01:25:43
I don't want to call him dad, But you have genuine affection
01:25:47
for your stepmother. And Claire, you have a curious
01:25:50
interest in your sister, who you just realized, like, when y'all
01:25:54
went to go rescue Jane. Oh, my God.
01:25:56
That's my sister. You realize there's more of you
01:26:00
out there in the world and the only way he's going to be able
01:26:04
to I, I feel like, like you said, get to know who he is.
01:26:08
He's going to have to go around these people.
01:26:11
But again, this is a, this is also a guy who grew up very
01:26:16
privileged, you know, basically silver spoon in the mouth.
01:26:22
He's not used to having to really fight for anything.
01:26:27
So you got what, 171819 years of this one big lie and you've only
01:26:35
had a year to deal with it so far.
01:26:38
Yet it might take him a little bit more time and then you're in
01:26:42
the middle of a war in the midst of all of this.
01:26:46
You know, now you have your your cousin, your, your dad, cousin's
01:26:51
wife and child in your, in your space.
01:26:54
So he just, he has a lot of things coming at him at once.
01:26:59
And, you know, they don't deal with mental health for young men
01:27:05
in the 1700s Just, I mean, they, they barely do it now in the 20
01:27:09
twenties. I was about to say, yeah, really
01:27:12
happen now. He really doesn't have a healthy
01:27:16
way to express what he's dealing with.
01:27:20
Like you said, Nina, he has nobody to talk to.
01:27:23
I think he could probably talk to Ian if he can get over the
01:27:28
fact that Ian and Rachel are married.
01:27:31
So there's that as well. He is because Jane was his last
01:27:35
conquest. So maybe he he's moved on from
01:27:38
Rachel because Jane, you. Right.
01:27:43
Maybe, but I mean, but he still has that thing because he
01:27:47
thought he and Rachel had a real connection, which they did.
01:27:50
I even said, like the way that they kind of showed the scenes
01:27:54
in the show, I would have thought they were pushing more
01:27:57
for Rachel and William together because you saw them bonding
01:28:01
more than you saw her in bonding at first.
01:28:05
So but he he got a lot to get to get through and he has no
01:28:10
therapist to help him get through it.
01:28:12
So we're going to have to give William some grace.
01:28:15
But I need him. I'm going to need him to stop
01:28:17
going out getting drunk because obviously he can't hold his
01:28:20
liquor. I was like, William, if you
01:28:26
trying to, if you trying to spy and find out where Richardson
01:28:30
is, this, this ain't the way for you to do it, baby, because
01:28:33
you're not you're not doing a good job.
01:28:35
You're not doing a good. Job not cut out.
01:28:37
Not cut out for the drinking games.
01:28:39
No, no. And what is brag anyway?
01:28:42
Like, how do you play that game? Is that something where you're
01:28:46
actually bragging about stuff? Like maybe it's it's it's no
01:28:52
wonder, look, it's no wonder he's drunk because he probably
01:28:55
doesn't have much to brag about if that's how the game is
01:29:00
played. I don't know.
01:29:01
But yeah, I'm gonna need, I'm gonna need women to get it
01:29:04
together. And I'm going to be like
01:29:06
Michelle. I need him to not fall in love
01:29:08
with Amaranthus. I need you to kind of speak by
01:29:11
yourself and fix yourself because the last thing you want
01:29:15
to do is bring all this baggage to someone who has her own
01:29:20
baggage, including a 2 legged baggage that that's under a year
01:29:26
old she. Right.
01:29:28
Y'all, y'all don't. Those two worlds don't need to
01:29:30
collide at this point. They really don't.
01:29:33
Honestly with him feeling the way he feel about being a child
01:29:37
of, you know, raised by somebody else, you know, right now I want
01:29:40
to be a step dad, my brother. I don't know, 'cause I don't, I
01:29:45
don't think it's the, it wasn't the fact that he was raised by
01:29:48
someone else because he's always known that Lord John wasn't his
01:29:52
father. It was just the fact that his
01:29:55
identity, like, OK, y'all are telling me that I am the 9th
01:29:59
Earl of Ellesmere. And this man even, you know,
01:30:02
biologically isn't mine. And he even said something to
01:30:05
that effect because he wants to give his title back.
01:30:09
And Lord John was like, no, you can't do that.
01:30:12
He was like, you mean I shouldn't know?
01:30:13
I mean, you can't. You can't do it.
01:30:15
I was like there is no type of law that exists for you to give
01:30:20
up a pier and she said that is something given by a rector
01:30:24
monarchy and the only way that they can take it away is for you
01:30:30
to turn coat. He was like, you mean to tell me
01:30:34
in order to deny my inheritance I got to be a traitor?
01:30:37
What kind of BS is that? Hey, it is what it is.
01:30:41
This is where we live in. Your Mama was married to the 9th
01:30:45
to the 8th Earl of Ells Mayor. By law, you are the 9th Earl of
01:30:49
Ells Mayor. What are the air do about it?
01:30:51
You are the baby, you are the father.
01:30:57
I mean, there's nothing they can do, but I I'm hoping he will
01:31:03
take some time. He will think about that last
01:31:06
conversation he had with Jamie. Yes.
01:31:08
When Jamie, you know, basically told him the good things about
01:31:11
his mother and also was like, I don't, I don't regret you.
01:31:17
I I, I don't regret. I, I regret that she died.
01:31:20
I, I will, you know, I will pay my penance for that, but I don't
01:31:25
regret you. Oh, Speaking of which, can, can
01:31:28
we talk about everybody taking blame for everything that they
01:31:31
don't need to be taking blame for?
01:31:34
Can can we stop doing that, Jamie?
01:31:36
Jamie has the Catholic gift, he going to take the blame for
01:31:39
everything because he got that Geneva was.
01:31:42
Not your fault. She blackmailed you and I I get
01:31:46
it. He doesn't want to.
01:31:47
He doesn't want to say that. Yeah.
01:31:50
You don't have to like the fact that he really believes that it
01:31:55
was her fault. I mean, that it was his fault
01:31:58
and she died as punishment. Do I need you to get over that?
01:32:01
She blackmailed you. She literally was like, you can
01:32:04
come sleep in my bed or I can tell everyone that you're red.
01:32:09
Jamie, you won't have anything to send back to your family.
01:32:13
That's not your fault, Jamie. You know Fanny thinking that
01:32:20
Jane died because she killed, she killed the the captain for
01:32:25
protecting her. She was like it's my fault.
01:32:27
No, it's the dumbasses fault that was trying to do stuff to
01:32:31
you that was his fault. Yeah.
01:32:33
William. Yeah.
01:32:35
It's that's what I was trying to protect her.
01:32:37
I was, I I swore to protect her. What were you supposed to do?
01:32:41
You got kidnapped, homeboy. And as I mentioned, she took her
01:32:45
own life at that point. Like she didn't even wait to be
01:32:48
executed. So what?
01:32:50
You couldn't fight her against that?
01:32:51
No, because because again, she knew they were they they were
01:32:57
going to make an example of her regardless. 26 times?
01:33:01
You really think she stuck around to to stab that man 26
01:33:05
times when she had a screaming sister to take care of?
01:33:09
No, I can guarantee you she didn't do that.
01:33:12
The British probably came in and finished him off that way so
01:33:16
they can pin it on her. But even without that, yeah, you
01:33:20
promised you were going to look after them.
01:33:21
You got kidnapped. Hence your whole revenge against
01:33:26
Ezekiel Richardson. Right now, that man had you
01:33:29
kidnapped and tried to have you killed.
01:33:32
How you going to protect anybody when your head is under a bag
01:33:35
and you got cuffs on your hands? Yeah.
01:33:39
I need people to stop blaming themselves for stuff that's not
01:33:44
their fault. Claire.
01:33:47
Even being upset about the whole faith thing, Jamie was like you.
01:33:53
You told me you held our dead daughter in your arms.
01:33:56
So it wasn't you. Somebody else did this mess.
01:34:01
It's just yeah, I I need y'all to stop taking the blame for
01:34:05
everybody else's faults and, and get some healing done.
01:34:11
They need therapy. I'm.
01:34:12
I'm going to take Michelle's. Michelle said they need some
01:34:15
therapy. A little bit.
01:34:17
He was therapy. Yeah, they're not going to shoot
01:34:21
to the show, but you know they need it.
01:34:26
But but a book, A counseling book Back with her, too.
01:34:32
Yeah, then Roger Mack didn't bring back none of his Bible
01:34:35
books, or none of his. Right, right.
01:34:37
Preacher Books. Yeah, but instead we got
01:34:41
Goodnight Moon. I'm gonna leave it alone.
01:34:43
Goodnight Moon. It looks like.
01:34:49
What did she say? It looks like a painting.
01:34:51
It looks. Like a paint.
01:34:52
A painting, Oh Lord. Jesus, because I was like, OK,
01:35:02
bringing out books from the future in front of your parents
01:35:04
is one thing, Yes, Y'all got a whole strange little girl
01:35:09
sitting at the table. Strange to Brianna and Rodger
01:35:11
and the kids. Y'all don't know who this child
01:35:14
is and y'all just going to pull this stuff out in front of her?
01:35:19
Yep. Yep.
01:35:20
And then and then afterwards be like, I hope, I hope the book, I
01:35:24
hope reading the book in front of Fanny is OK.
01:35:27
Do you think it's a little too late to worry?
01:35:30
About that Bree, Bree, you couldn't wait till the kids in
01:35:33
bed. Right.
01:35:35
And also, why do we have a talk with them?
01:35:38
Damn kids, they can't have stuff from the future.
01:35:41
Thank you. Jimmy is Jim.
01:35:43
Jim can. He can understand, maybe.
01:35:46
Not but he knows, but Jim, he knows he got good sense, but he
01:35:51
also know the routine. He knows what to do.
01:35:56
So here's the question and and it it literally just came up on
01:36:00
my screen. Her, her holding the doll.
01:36:05
So you remember when they went through the stones to go look
01:36:10
for Roger and Amanda felt her father through the stones and
01:36:17
she ran towards him in the stones.
01:36:21
Do you remember that she dropped her doll before she got to the
01:36:23
stones stop to pick that doll up?
01:36:27
Because the last time, last time I looked, Jim and Brianna were
01:36:32
both running to the stones. They weren't thinking about that
01:36:35
doll. So so So where did that all come
01:36:39
from? Did they go back and decide?
01:36:42
They did go back home because they went back home and gathered
01:36:45
all the books, remember? She got, she got she, she pulled
01:36:48
those books and stuff off before they went to go find Roger
01:36:52
because you see her pulling Soul of a Rebel off the bookshelf.
01:36:56
I do. But did she know already that
01:36:59
she was going to go home? I feel like they went back to
01:37:02
the house and got prepped. I I think she took something for
01:37:07
them just in case. I think she probably already
01:37:11
thought or already figured that she was going to go to her
01:37:14
parents if she couldn't find Rodger because it wasn't safe
01:37:18
for her to be at Lala Brock in their current.
01:37:20
Well, she should have got a Bible for Roger.
01:37:22
Then she wouldn't even think about him.
01:37:24
Well no, because remember Rodger?
01:37:25
Rodger stopped ministering when they got to the 1980s because.
01:37:28
I'm just talking about you want to pick out some books when she
01:37:31
got books for everybody. They got Bibles in the 1700s.
01:37:34
I know, but you know, here's some books now.
01:37:38
They got bottles in the 1700s. You may want to read the 1982
01:37:42
Vogue 1 was his favorite. No, no, we all see.
01:37:50
Because Rodger wasn't doing the ministering when he was back in
01:37:53
the 1980s, and it looks like he may start that back up.
01:37:58
Or you may need to do some counseling.
01:37:59
That's all I'm saying. She if she was going to prepare,
01:38:02
she need to prepare a little bit more.
01:38:04
That's one of the first things Jamie asked him was about that.
01:38:08
Yeah, but maybe, you know, people need some comfort or
01:38:10
something. But also I kind of feel I, I
01:38:14
understand what Rodger said because Rodger was like, I
01:38:17
couldn't be a minister when I went back because I had, you
01:38:20
know, he was like, I had so many doubts.
01:38:21
I had so many questions like how, how is all this possible?
01:38:26
If, you know, I think he, he asked a question like the
01:38:28
existential question, like how's all this possible If, if God
01:38:32
exists and you know, like there's, there's a certain order
01:38:37
to things. And I don't think time travel
01:38:39
was mentioned in the Bible. So Rodgers, like, I don't know
01:38:44
how I feel about this stuff yet or now I should say.
01:38:48
But I guess we'll see how how that's about to go.
01:38:52
I have a feeling we don't need it in next episode 'cause they
01:38:56
gonna need some therapy. They're never gonna need some
01:38:59
therapy. No, wait.
01:39:01
Yeah. So Jamie is reading the book.
01:39:05
He mentioned something about a telephone, didn't he?
01:39:08
Yes, yes, he reads it from the thing and nobody questions.
01:39:13
What's the telephone? That is just looking like, and I
01:39:17
get it, they probably thought, OK, you know what, this is a
01:39:20
girl who has grown up in a brothel her whole life.
01:39:23
There may be some things that she has not been exposed to.
01:39:27
I can get it if that's what they were thinking.
01:39:29
But still, I think it's very careless for them to just be
01:39:33
because, because what are you going to do?
01:39:35
What are you going to do on the rest of the Ridge?
01:39:37
Are you going to tell the kids, oh, you can't pull this book out
01:39:40
in front of everybody else? Have you even taken the time to
01:39:42
explain to them that, like, Jim is different because Jim grew up
01:39:47
in that time before they went back to the future.
01:39:50
So I think he understands a little bit better.
01:39:53
Mandy, she was a baby. She's only ever known the 1980s.
01:39:59
That girl going to need a crash course before she has the whole
01:40:02
family. Look, they're going to come and
01:40:03
burn the new house down thinking, oh, we're about to
01:40:06
burn down a house full of witches because why?
01:40:11
Why they they could have, they could have done something else.
01:40:15
I mean, Can you imagine how confused a historian or an
01:40:20
archaeologist is going to be when they start digging around
01:40:24
North Carolina? In the 1800s of the 1900s and
01:40:31
they say huh oh this looks like a plumbing system right here
01:40:36
like a homemade plumbing system. Oh wait our our talking right?
01:40:46
Hey, how did this get there? Y'all just opening up the whole
01:40:53
can of worms and then you got you you out.
01:40:57
You already see what the consequences of you having shit
01:41:03
out that don't need to be out. You have to sit here and tell
01:41:06
Jamie about Rob Cameron. And Jamie is like, so you're
01:41:11
saying he found some of our letters?
01:41:12
So not only does he know where we are, he knows when we are.
01:41:18
So what's keeping him from coming after y'all now?
01:41:23
And Brianna's like, I don't know if he if he can time trap.
01:41:27
Yep. I need you to be a little less
01:41:30
nonchalant about this. You need to say, well, he
01:41:34
shouldn't want to come after me because I almost popped his ass
01:41:37
with, you know what I'm saying? Like, I understand Jamie.
01:41:41
OK. Yeah.
01:41:42
OK. Well, I'll go and hide the gold
01:41:45
and he'll have to come through me, blah, blah, blah, blah,
01:41:47
blah. That that's not even like the
01:41:52
big point. The big point is the fact that
01:41:55
y'all are being so careless about this time travel thing and
01:42:00
about what y'all are allowing other people to see.
01:42:05
All you're doing is putting everybody in danger because how
01:42:12
how are you going to explain those books?
01:42:14
As much as people come in and out of Jamie and Claire's house,
01:42:19
they have so many people living with them at a time or so many
01:42:22
people doing this. What you going to do?
01:42:26
How you going to explain that? I just, I, I don't know.
01:42:32
I, I just it, it's, it's very careless to me.
01:42:41
I just. Oh, yeah.
01:42:42
Scotland's influence of the Scottish roots of the American
01:42:47
Revolution. That's what the book says, but I
01:42:51
don't know, I just, I, I need y'all to stop bringing shit from
01:42:54
the future. Can we, can we stop doing that?
01:42:58
Oh goodness, what else do we have to talk about?
01:43:06
I don't, I don't, I think, I think we got everything.
01:43:09
I think we, I think we focused on the, the most important part
01:43:13
is mainly being the whole faith because I, I think really
01:43:18
everything else, I don't want to say it was just feeling because
01:43:20
it wasn't just feeling. Oh no, we got, we got
01:43:24
information. But I think until they explain
01:43:28
it properly, I feel like that Faith thing is going to kind of
01:43:33
over shadow everything else, especially because now you're
01:43:36
trying to decide whether or not you should even tell Fanny about
01:43:40
the possibility. And I understand what Claire
01:43:42
says about no. If we tell her she's not going
01:43:45
to understand it, then we're going to break whatever trust
01:43:47
she already has in us. But even with that, now you're
01:43:51
bringing Brianna into the fold. You're telling her about it,
01:43:54
which I don't even remember if she ever had a conversation with
01:43:57
Brianna about Faith. At least she didn't in the show.
01:44:01
I don't, I don't recall them talking about it in the books.
01:44:06
So it's just kind of like, oh, OK, yeah.
01:44:08
So by the way, let me tell you about Fanny and your sister
01:44:11
Brianna is like, OK, I know I come from future, but this shit
01:44:14
sounds ridiculous. Like how do you.
01:44:18
Yeah, I think, I think that that one little mystery is going to
01:44:21
over shadow some of this stuff until we find out what it is
01:44:25
'cause it's all anybody's going to talk about, 'cause you either
01:44:27
have people who are intrigued by it or you have people who are
01:44:30
really, really pissed off by it. So I don't know.
01:44:36
Yeah, I hope they don't drag it on.
01:44:39
I don't. I don't want it to be like a
01:44:41
constant thing and. I don't.
01:44:44
Again, they have 10 episodes. You have a lot of material to
01:44:49
cover, especially because you've introduced quite a few new
01:44:53
characters in this season. So, and you introduce them in a
01:44:57
way that suggests they're going to have kind of significant
01:45:04
storylines this season. So you can't spend too much time
01:45:08
on that. That's, that's almost like the
01:45:09
whole, the whole thing with Malva's pregnancy and her murder
01:45:16
and all that stuff. We were hoping they wouldn't
01:45:18
drag that out either. And they took care of that
01:45:20
fairly quickly. So I'm hoping they'll do the
01:45:24
same thing with this because I I just need to know so I can so I
01:45:28
can wrap my brain around whatever it is that y'all are
01:45:31
doing and I can put it to rest and then I can enjoy the rest of
01:45:35
the season, which I'm a do regardless, but still that
01:45:37
that's kind of like a is, is that thing that's hanging over
01:45:40
your head. Yeah.
01:45:44
So you guys have any final thoughts about the episode?
01:45:49
Because we have some other stuff to talk about briefly, but.
01:45:56
I, I do think that using that Claire seeing somebody show up
01:46:03
on the Ridge was kind of a let down that it was only Brianna
01:46:07
and Rodger now because I really wanted some like juicy like.
01:46:11
Something. Oh yeah.
01:46:14
We I'm glad. I'm glad it was them because I'm
01:46:17
glad they made it back and Lord knows I didn't want them to go
01:46:20
through more trouble getting back home.
01:46:22
But I'm also like, Dang, I really needed some juicy
01:46:25
character. Somebody new, something good be.
01:46:28
Careful what you wish for. Well, I didn't get an old lady
01:46:32
crazy and young hotty toty with a baby, so I don't know.
01:46:36
I mean, be careful what you wish for.
01:46:40
Oh, oh, the two guys hanging in the Ridge.
01:46:45
Oh, yeah. So question about that, was that
01:46:49
done by people who actually lived on a Ridge or was were
01:46:52
they saying that the British did that?
01:46:56
So I think if I remember correctly, I think what we're
01:47:02
going to find out because Jamie is still kind of reacquainting
01:47:05
himself with the Ridge. I don't think Cunningham is the
01:47:10
only ex British officer on the Ridge.
01:47:15
OK. And then if I'm not mistaken,
01:47:20
the whole thing with the war in the Backcountry, I think that
01:47:26
has to do with the the individual militias in the the
01:47:29
neighboring towns and settlements.
01:47:32
And I think some of them are loyalists, some of them are
01:47:36
rebels. So you're going to get some
01:47:39
conflict. So apparently somebody maybe on
01:47:43
the Ridge who, you know, don't like the loyalists, they strung
01:47:47
those folks up. I don't know if those were
01:47:49
residents of the Ridge or if they happen to be trespassing or
01:47:54
I don't know what the case is, but, yeah, I don't think that
01:47:58
bodes well for Mr. I I'm done with war.
01:48:02
Yeah. It's.
01:48:03
It's literally on your land and in your backyard.
01:48:09
So. Yeah, I yeah, But I'm sure that
01:48:13
was a joke too. It's kind of like damn I just
01:48:17
got home and y'all hanging people on my land.
01:48:20
Yeah. Yeah, and then in a really
01:48:21
terrible way too, and having stuff in their forehead and.
01:48:26
Right, like I just left war and this is probably more gruesome
01:48:31
than anything I I witnessed in the war.
01:48:33
At least with war. And I hate to say this 'cause he
01:48:36
gives him an at least war civilized.
01:48:39
I mean, it's into A to a degree 'cause they let you take your
01:48:43
dead off the field and and come back the next day preparing for
01:48:47
another round kind of thing in a lot of cases.
01:48:50
But yeah, but that, that was a bit, that was a bit much.
01:48:55
So I forgot all about that. Yeah.
01:49:00
But so, yeah, last week I got to go to New York.
01:49:06
I got to sit out in the freezing cold for two kids so that I
01:49:11
could attend the the red carpet premiere and screening of the
01:49:17
first episode of Outlander. I got to see it four days
01:49:21
before, you know, the the rest of the world did.
01:49:25
That was a fun experience. It was very interesting because
01:49:27
this is the first time I'm 50 years old.
01:49:29
I've never camped out overnight in my life for anything.
01:49:32
I've never done the I'm sitting outside for concert tickets.
01:49:35
I've never sat outside for Jordan's.
01:49:37
I've I've never done that before.
01:49:40
So going into this whole process, there was like there
01:49:45
was an initial sign up. The sign up filled up within
01:49:48
like 4 minutes via e-mail or the online sign up process and then
01:49:54
you got a confirmation. The confirmation says hey you're
01:49:58
on the list, but you're not guaranteed.
01:49:59
You still have to be aligned by a certain number of time to get
01:50:03
vouchers. OK.
01:50:05
So what happened was we went in, we got into the New York Sunday
01:50:11
afternoon. We decided to go see Harry
01:50:15
Potter and the Cursed Child, which is phenomenal.
01:50:18
I will just say that even though it's not Outlander, it was
01:50:22
phenomenal. So what we decided after the
01:50:24
show was we were going to go by the theater to see if anybody
01:50:27
was sitting outside. We were like, OK, we're going to
01:50:29
see if anybody's going to be camping out because it was cold
01:50:32
in New York. I think when we left the
01:50:34
theater, it had to have been like maybe mid 20s and it was
01:50:41
cold and the wind was blowing. So it was, it was, it was pretty
01:50:46
cold. And you know, we live in
01:50:47
Atlanta. We, we get kind of sort of that
01:50:50
cold, but it's, it's not constant.
01:50:54
So we go to the theater, it's around 11:15.
01:50:58
There are already about 200 and something people in line like
01:51:02
camped out, bundled up blankets, pizza boxes like they are, they
01:51:08
are there for the night. So my friend Linda, she takes
01:51:12
the first watch, she stays there for few hours, I think like 3
01:51:16
hours. She calls me, I get up, go.
01:51:21
And we kind of did that back and forth until 10:00.
01:51:24
That was when I had to pick up the tickets.
01:51:26
So when we got the vouchers, we were like #344 and 3:45 in line.
01:51:31
They were only guaranteeing the 1st 500 people to get into the
01:51:35
theater, so you had to be there by a certain amount of time in
01:51:39
order to get in. And in the midst of all that,
01:51:41
you got the stars coming in. You have them decorating outside
01:51:45
with the posters. They had a replica of the
01:51:47
standing stones as the backdrop outside for photo OPS.
01:51:51
It was, it was really nice. I didn't get to see the stars up
01:51:56
close like I wanted to because my name was the one that was on
01:51:59
the reservation. So I stood in line to make sure
01:52:01
we kept our place in line. But it when I say it was a fun
01:52:05
experience. I did get to see some of the
01:52:08
stars when they came in the theater to sit.
01:52:12
Richard Rankin is a ham, is a total, total ham.
01:52:19
But everyone was beautiful. It was very emotional.
01:52:23
Matt Roberts got up on stage and started talking and had people
01:52:27
in the audience kind of sniff. It was a really fun experience
01:52:31
and I'm glad I got to see, I'm glad I got to see it on a big
01:52:35
screen because it was like in a theater.
01:52:37
So it was on a movie theater screen.
01:52:40
Got to see it with other fans. Like I said, they were about
01:52:43
maybe all together about 600 or 700 people in there including
01:52:47
cast and crew. It was a great experience.
01:52:50
I I wouldn't have traded it for the world was so much fun, so
01:52:53
much fun. I wish y'all could have been
01:52:56
there. Girl that's standing at that, I
01:53:00
was like, Lord, she out here doing like she ain't like she in
01:53:04
her 20s out here on these streets, yes.
01:53:08
I think I prepared fairly well for someone who is never
01:53:12
experienced the northern winter because I stopped the weather
01:53:17
pages for like 2 weeks trying to figure out what the weather was
01:53:20
like. Because the weekend before New
01:53:23
York had a Blizzard. Yeah.
01:53:26
And so there were literally spots around the city, like for
01:53:29
the most part, the streets were clear.
01:53:31
But then you would come past a spot that had like snow sitting
01:53:37
five feet high and it was dirty and it was nasty and it was
01:53:39
gross. But I mean, it wasn't as bad as
01:53:43
I was expecting it to be in. Then I went in layers.
01:53:46
I bought thermals I had on, I had on like thermal pants,
01:53:50
leggings and sweatpants. And then I had on like a thermal
01:53:54
shirt. I had on a sweatshirt and a, a,
01:53:58
a winter jacket. And then I had the lining of my
01:54:01
friend's jacket and I had my my hair.
01:54:04
I was very well bundled up. So I think for the four hours I
01:54:08
was there the first time in the morning, I was there from like
01:54:12
2:30 ish 2:45 until about 6:30. I didn't start getting cold
01:54:18
until like right around 5:45. I was like, OK, I did pretty
01:54:24
good. I was very proud of myself.
01:54:27
I was like, OK, so now I know how to prepare if they decide to
01:54:30
ever do something like this again and, and try to figure
01:54:34
out, but I need them to give us a little more time because they
01:54:36
only gave us like 2 weeks notice as far as when they were doing
01:54:39
this and where it was going to be and trying to plan and get
01:54:42
your hotel. And like, we didn't even find
01:54:44
out where the location was until like maybe four days before the
01:54:51
event. Oh God, yeah.
01:54:54
So she and I, basically, we thought about all the places
01:54:57
that they've done Outlander events at.
01:55:00
Before or or. Like premieres and we just kind
01:55:05
of narrowed it down, OK, it might be at Javits or it might
01:55:08
be here or it might be here. So we just picked the hotel that
01:55:12
was kind of central to it and was like, OK, we're going to
01:55:15
hope for the best. And it just so happened in the
01:55:18
hotel that we were in. We were right next door to the
01:55:20
Hudson Theater. So when we pulled up, they had
01:55:24
the marquee out because Daniel Radcliffe's new show was
01:55:27
starting a couple of days after we left.
01:55:30
So that was the first thing we saw.
01:55:32
We were literally in Times Square.
01:55:34
It was it was just an all around fun trip.
01:55:36
I wish I could have stayed for a few more days, but it was worth
01:55:40
it. You know, I got to see Sam and
01:55:43
Katrina in person and Sophie was there, Rick was there, Cesar was
01:55:50
there, Lauren was there. Who else was there?
01:55:53
Izzy was there. Diana Gabaldon was there.
01:55:57
So if they had a pretty good turn out for the event, Oh,
01:56:01
William. William was there, Charles David
01:56:04
Berry, Lord John Gray was there. So they had a they had a really
01:56:07
good cast turn out and yes, those people look just as good
01:56:11
in person as they do on the screen.
01:56:13
They believe it. Good looking bunch of people,
01:56:16
yes, but everyone, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
01:56:20
It was a lot of fun. So I'm I'm I'm looking forward
01:56:23
to the next event, which will be I'm going to lancon in October.
01:56:29
I'm still trying to talk you to and and to go where Michelle
01:56:31
can't go 'cause she going to be on another crew on.
01:56:34
Another cruise. I don't blame you.
01:56:36
I love a cruise girl. On another cruise, yeah.
01:56:40
There's an Outlander Convention coming to Austin, TX in October
01:56:44
that I'm going to. So far they've got a pretty good
01:56:48
guest list. We got Lord John Gray coming.
01:56:50
We got Will, we got, We got Galis coming.
01:56:55
We have the new Jenny coming. We have.
01:57:00
I actually do miss Galis like she was a she was a great kid.
01:57:04
Then I'm just, I was so excited when I saw she was on there
01:57:08
'cause I was like, I know she got some tails.
01:57:10
I know she got some tails. I just love, yeah.
01:57:13
I love how I don't even want to say, well, no, her character was
01:57:17
evil. But yeah, oh, yeah, she loves
01:57:19
her. Yeah, I love her.
01:57:22
But yeah, so we're we're we're loving.
01:57:25
I I'm loving all the Outlander stuff right now.
01:57:27
I'm so sad that the main show is about to end, but we still have
01:57:30
blood in my blood. And that is a show that I am
01:57:33
really enjoying. So yeah, we'll keep covering
01:57:38
that. And then I think the only other
01:57:40
thing we need to mention is the New York City Podcast Awards,
01:57:46
because we have been nominated for an award.
01:57:49
Yay, we are. I found this out Friday before I
01:57:55
left for New York that we are nominated in the category of
01:58:00
Best Entertainment and Pop Culture Podcast.
01:58:04
The award ceremony is going to be this Friday night in New
01:58:08
York, so I will be going back to New York so I can attend the
01:58:12
award ceremony. I'm excited.
01:58:14
This is the first ceremony I've been able to attend.
01:58:17
We've been nominated for other podcast awards before.
01:58:22
A couple of years ago we were nominated for the Black Podcast
01:58:25
Awards. So this is a lot of fun to to do
01:58:30
because they have a, they have a very strict judging process for
01:58:37
their submissions. The submissions have to go
01:58:40
through two rounds of judging before before they are
01:58:45
nominated. So the fact that we got that far
01:58:48
in order to be a nominate, in order to be nominated, I am very
01:58:53
proud of us and I am excited about the awards.
01:58:57
I'm excited about being in that kind of environment and getting
01:59:01
a chance to like meet other podcasters and network.
01:59:04
So I'm I'm excited about that. But this is where we need your
01:59:09
help, listeners, dear listeners and viewers, there is an
01:59:13
audience choice award that is a part of the ceremony and that is
01:59:19
where you can actually go online and vote.
01:59:22
For us. The vote is daily votes.
01:59:25
They are taking ballots up until noon on Thursday, March 12th.
01:59:30
Again, the the ceremony is on Friday, March 13th.
01:59:34
So I'm going to post the link in the show notes.
01:59:38
And if you are listening to us and you want to support us, we
01:59:42
