00:00:24
What's up, hybrids? Welcome back to another episode
00:00:28
of the Phantom Hybrid Podcast. This is Hanukkah and I am here
00:00:31
with Michelle and we are discussing Outlander episode 4
00:00:35
of season 7A Most Uncomfortable Woman.
00:00:39
And let's go ahead and talk about that most uncomfortable
00:00:42
woman, because I think that was the funniest part of the whole
00:00:47
episode. Claire and Jamie are in town,
00:00:52
she has gone to get supplies and someone bumps into her and she
00:00:55
was like, excuse me, and it's Tom Christie.
00:01:00
She's looking at him with surprise because she thinks he's
00:01:02
already dead and he's looking at her with surprise and he plants
00:01:07
a huge kiss on her face. And girl, I was like, I can't
00:01:13
wait to hear what machine. But, and it was so it was it was
00:01:18
just. It was hilarious to me because
00:01:21
she did a great job acting that out because the look on her
00:01:24
face, her facial expressions had me rolling.
00:01:30
Oh my God, it was so funny because I was kind of looking
00:01:34
the same same way too, because it was like he just.
00:01:40
Planted a kiss on her and we had just talked about before about
00:01:44
him not giving her a hug, you know when he risked his life and
00:01:49
for her. But I was like, man, he was
00:01:52
confused because I was like, what the heck?
00:01:54
And then when he talks about the fact that he thought that she
00:01:58
was. Dead because he had been told of
00:02:00
the house fire, so it was. So he actually had put the the
00:02:08
obituary in the paper once he found out.
00:02:12
So that kind of narrows down. At least that tells us what year
00:02:16
that obituary was written. Because he found out after the
00:02:23
fire, months after the fire. Because, you know, when we last
00:02:27
saw Tom Christie, he had surrendered himself confessing
00:02:31
to his daughter's murder, which we now know he didn't commit.
00:02:35
But he didn't know that at the time he confessed because he
00:02:40
wanted to save Claire, because he was in love with her.
00:02:42
So we're expecting that he's going to be, you know, hung,
00:02:47
executed, whatever for murder. Turns out because he's an
00:02:51
educated man and he was able to write, the governor started
00:02:56
using him as a secretary. And then because of everything
00:03:00
that's going on, he ended up being free let go.
00:03:04
And that's how he came to be walking around.
00:03:06
But it was so funny because for him to be able to express that
00:03:10
and then it's like he really was looking like, Okay, yes, I just
00:03:14
did this and I have no regrets at all.
00:03:19
He was like, also, your husband is alive too.
00:03:21
Oh Okay. And he's just still sitting
00:03:24
there, just looking at her like she's here.
00:03:26
You're right, he just wasn't excited that she was alive.
00:03:29
But it was. At first.
00:03:31
I also thought okay. Is this a dream?
00:03:33
It's clear having a dream. But then when I realized it was
00:03:36
real, I'm like this being really planted that big one on her.
00:03:40
And she's still looking like she was.
00:03:42
Like, he's lucky Jamie didn't come out of somewhere and see
00:03:49
that. But it's playing in the
00:03:52
background right now. Her face, she's just looking
00:03:56
like, what the hell just happened?
00:03:58
He was like, oh, I beg your pardon, but he still looked like
00:04:01
I don't regret it at all. Like, this is a man who was in
00:04:07
love with a woman who was clearly in love with another
00:04:10
man. He probably thought he'd never
00:04:11
get the opportunity to kiss her. So now that he has, he's
00:04:14
probably like okay. You know what?
00:04:15
I don't regret that at all. Yes, I'm happy you're alive, but
00:04:19
I don't regret that at all. But you know, I always, I always
00:04:24
wondered how they were going to do that, especially with the way
00:04:27
that they they kind of sort of tied off his story couple of
00:04:31
episodes ago. But remember I was saying that
00:04:35
there was something she had said in an episode, and I think it
00:04:39
was during her voice over with, she said it seemed like Tom
00:04:44
Christie was dead or something like that.
00:04:48
And I was like, hmm, something tells me they're going to bring
00:04:51
him back. I don't think he's not reading
00:04:53
them out yet, so I'm glad because again, we talked about a
00:04:59
few episodes ago with the start of the 7th season, how it looked
00:05:02
like they are actually tying off some of these storylines and not
00:05:07
letting them stay open, not letting them linger.
00:05:11
So I'm glad that he was able to come back and she and him were
00:05:14
able to have an actual conversation and he was able to
00:05:21
confess how he felt to her, like not in in the moment now,
00:05:25
because there's no danger. So you can actually be very
00:05:29
frank about your feelings, but you can put it all out there.
00:05:33
She can put what she has to say out there.
00:05:35
And you have closure for both, you know, for both characters.
00:05:40
And then he's now up, he's gone. And now I think we're finished
00:05:46
with seeing him because I don't think bookwise I don't recall
00:05:52
him playing another, you know, any other part in their story.
00:05:56
But of course, I've only gotten to a certain point.
00:05:58
But. I don't think, I don't recall
00:06:00
hearing him being involved in anything.
00:06:02
So I think now we are finally done with the Christie story.
00:06:07
And even though the story for out, Allen and Malva didn't end
00:06:13
in a favorable way for either of them, I'm glad that at least for
00:06:18
Tom. He has some kind of peace now, I
00:06:21
feel like, you know. Yes, yes.
00:06:24
I'm. I don't know why, why I'm saying
00:06:27
this when I wanted that man to fall off a horse and die.
00:06:29
OK, So I am glad that he is alive and hopefully he can make
00:06:35
a few changes about his judgment of other people.
00:06:40
However, he was going to sacrifice himself knowing that
00:06:45
he didn't commit the crime, but knowing that Claire didn't
00:06:47
commit the crime so. He gets a pass and I'm glad he's
00:06:50
not going to have to die for. And he got him, He got his one
00:06:54
kiss. That's going to, you know, take
00:06:56
him to his grade, take him through everything.
00:06:58
Yes, it's going to sustain. Him.
00:07:01
I mean, he just looks so light. Sitting at that table with her,
00:07:04
He's just seems so light and you know, happy, right?
00:07:09
But here's the thing. So this was the thing that was
00:07:12
interesting to me about what he told her when they discussed the
00:07:17
fire and everything. So he says someone from Fraser's
00:07:20
Ridge gave him the news of the fire.
00:07:26
I'm like, so I realized everyone from Fraser's Ridge didn't come
00:07:31
to the big house to help with the, you know, help put out
00:07:34
fire. But it makes no sense that
00:07:39
someone would give him the news and make him think that Claire
00:07:42
and Jamie are dead when they clearly wasn't dead.
00:07:45
You know, like literally they sat there and tried to put the
00:07:49
fire out. They were there.
00:07:52
It it had to be someone who wasn't there that heard about
00:07:55
the fire and just assumed that they were dead.
00:07:58
But you would think if even if that's the case, that fire would
00:08:02
have been a top a topic of gossip.
00:08:05
So you would think that somebody else in phrases Ridge if he
00:08:08
would have said, oh you you know, you know Mr. Fraser, Miss
00:08:13
Miss Fraser are died you know are dead and somebody else would
00:08:17
be like, no they're not dead because I mean they had a whole
00:08:20
funeral for Mrs. Bug where they both were there, she sang, the
00:08:25
profession is professional. So it's like, why would someone
00:08:30
say? Or maybe that was just what he
00:08:33
interpreted once they said, oh, it was a big fire the house.
00:08:37
Burnt and he didn't ask any questions.
00:08:40
And then the person wasn't giving any extra details about
00:08:43
it because it could be someone who heard about the fire, but
00:08:46
who's from Fraser Ridge, who then told him and didn't give
00:08:49
him any details and he just assumed that they were dead.
00:08:52
Yeah, that. Because other than that, it
00:08:54
doesn't make sense. Because he's not a talkative
00:08:57
man. So he's not going to get into
00:08:59
the meat of things and say, well, who was there and what
00:09:01
happened and the big house burned down And then for him to
00:09:07
place an obituary, he could have placed that obituary anywhere.
00:09:12
And if he didn't go back to Fraser's Ridge, which he said he
00:09:14
did not do, you know, he. I guess that would be the the
00:09:20
thing for him. If he had gone back to Fraser's
00:09:22
Ridge, someone would have told him that Jamie and Claire were a
00:09:25
lot. You know, Lizzie could have told
00:09:27
him, one of the twins could have told him, you know, somebody
00:09:30
would would have been there to be like, I don't know, they're
00:09:33
they're okay. But he didn't go back to the
00:09:35
Ridge because his family is not there.
00:09:37
You know, I doubt that she told him about Alan and what he
00:09:42
confessed, because then she would have to like answer where
00:09:46
he is. So I think she probably just.
00:09:48
Let no. And then you you do you really
00:09:51
want to tell a father what the son did even done to even though
00:09:57
it's not your daughter? But do you really want to to get
00:10:01
to his sister? No.
00:10:03
No, that's not a conversation I would want to have.
00:10:06
And especially when this man is sitting across from you.
00:10:08
Happy, right? Yeah.
00:10:11
Just let him, let him have his happiness and let him go
00:10:15
wherever it is he's going to go now because he's obviously not
00:10:19
going back to Fraser's Ridge now.
00:10:20
Like, I don't think because. Because you know that he knows
00:10:27
that Claire is going to tell Jamie about what happened.
00:10:31
And even though he did it spur of the moment, not meaning any
00:10:36
disrespect. I don't think he will go back to
00:10:39
the Ridge just because when and if Jamie and Claire ever go
00:10:43
back, he wouldn't want to have to look at Jamie in the face.
00:10:45
And The thing is, Jamie just going to look at them, look at
00:10:48
him with sympathy, because that's how he feels.
00:10:51
Even when she said, you know, did you tell him how I felt?
00:10:56
You know, about your what night he's like, yeah, but he
00:10:58
understands how you know, about loving me so.
00:11:02
And then he thought it was funny.
00:11:03
See, because he's secure. Secure in this relationship.
00:11:06
You can tell because he will make it, You know, making jokes
00:11:09
on her. But then she wouldn't ask the
00:11:11
question, Did you like it? Well, honey, did you like it or
00:11:14
not? Because you you won't answer my
00:11:16
question. No, okay.
00:11:18
Because if not, I will have to feel some type of way about it.
00:11:22
But, but, you know, you kind of have to wonder because after
00:11:26
they're having that conversation, that's when she
00:11:29
and Jamie finally get down to the nittygritty.
00:11:31
And I was laughing the whole time I was watching this scene
00:11:34
because when we had the conversation in the last episode
00:11:37
and you were talking about the lack of intimate, like physical,
00:11:40
intimate between them, I had to kind of like I had to fumble
00:11:45
around for an answer because I couldn't tell you that was
00:11:48
coming up because you hadn't seen the episode yet.
00:11:51
So I was like, well, you know, with Jamie and and Claire, we
00:11:54
don't really need to see the physical intimacy to know how
00:11:58
close they are. And I was like but we get it all
00:12:01
in the next. Yes, we did.
00:12:03
Cuz is this where? Yeah, cuz you know, he was
00:12:07
feeling some type of like ooh another man want my wife.
00:12:10
Is this where he start talking about all the the things that
00:12:13
she has done to him? Yes, I think, I think this is.
00:12:18
Yeah, yeah. Because it was one of the, yeah,
00:12:22
it was one of those like. Yeah, you had a knife to me one
00:12:26
time. Yes, Yes.
00:12:31
So when when he's saying all of that, I was just like, yeah,
00:12:36
there, there's no, there's no dampening of the physical
00:12:44
attraction there between them. But I love their scenes because
00:12:48
you have some of their intimacy scenes where they are so
00:12:51
serious. And then you have the ones like
00:12:53
these that are so silly but still so serious.
00:12:57
I was like, yeah, OK, well, we do get to see that they can
00:13:01
still enjoy those types of things at their age.
00:13:04
Oh, and I did look it up. So technically speaking, Claire
00:13:07
is 61 at this time because when she first went back to 19,
00:13:15
excuse me, 1743, she was 27 years old.
00:13:19
So. If you do math around this time,
00:13:22
depending on what year this is, I think this is this should be
00:13:26
around I think 77. She should be 61.
00:13:32
So we do get to see at 61 and Jamie that will make Jamie 57.
00:13:40
Thank you. Still have a little fun.
00:13:42
Right. And then he he reminded us when
00:13:46
the lady has said she'll come into her full power with when
00:13:50
she has a hair full of white hair.
00:13:52
So he's like, what's to come? Yes, this is the scene when he
00:13:55
talked about you clawing me. You had a knife to me.
00:13:58
I'm like, you know what? I love it.
00:14:03
Y'all like, y'all like that that that that rough.
00:14:06
Stuff right? You stab me once, but oh, when
00:14:12
he was talking about you stabbed me in the butt with one of your
00:14:15
what was this syringe? She was like what you deserved.
00:14:21
But I you know it's it's nice to see them have some
00:14:25
lightheartedness. Yeah, it is, that's what.
00:14:28
Really. Yeah.
00:14:29
Because this episode is not necessarily, I I won't say it's
00:14:34
a rough episode, but, you know, they're in the process of trying
00:14:40
to get to Scotland. They stop into a town to pick up
00:14:44
supplies and they see Mr. I think it's his, His name is
00:14:49
Hartnett from the Sons of Liberty.
00:14:52
And he sees Jamie and you know, he starts talking to Jamie
00:14:55
about, oh, are you here to join the cause?
00:14:57
And Jamie is like, no, my wife and I have some personal
00:15:00
business to attend in Scotland. I do plan on joining the war
00:15:03
effort, you know, once I come back.
00:15:05
But we have to do that. Let's do basically forces Jamie
00:15:12
to sign up to lead militia for this war.
00:15:16
Talking about, Oh well, I think your personal business in
00:15:19
Scotland can wait. Who asked you for an emergency?
00:15:24
It's already bad enough that by boat it's going to take them
00:15:30
months to get to Scotland. You got the nerve to say, oh,
00:15:34
your personal business can wait. How do you know?
00:15:38
Why? You don't know what I'm doing,
00:15:40
girl. I was so mad.
00:15:42
And then like Jamie said, he was like, I saved your life.
00:15:45
You saved my life. So I can fight another day.
00:15:48
Well, today is that day. Today is that day for you.
00:15:50
So you can fight another day, say, about wanting to.
00:15:54
Fight why? I'm going back home.
00:15:57
I was so mad when they I was like, you know what I said?
00:16:02
Y'all going to learn at some point y'all are going to stop
00:16:08
trying to force Jamie Fraser to do shit because one of these
00:16:13
days is going to bite you in the ass.
00:16:16
Because now he knows you don't have no loyalty to him.
00:16:23
You want him because you know who he is.
00:16:26
You know he can command people. You know, he's one of those men
00:16:29
that can get people to come on his side and to fight.
00:16:33
When you're using him for that purpose, which, yeah, y'all
00:16:36
going to war, you need people. I understand that.
00:16:41
But even to the point where you're like, almost blackmailing
00:16:44
him. Oh okay.
00:16:45
Well, if you're not going to do this, I can conscript somebody
00:16:48
else to come in your place. So who's going to come in your
00:16:50
place? You.
00:16:52
I was so mad. I was like, I want to leave
00:17:01
that. Yeah.
00:17:02
I was too, because I'm like, oh, here we go.
00:17:04
So he not going home. He is not going home.
00:17:07
Oh no. Even though at the end I was
00:17:11
like, well, I see possibilities for Ian, but we'll talk about
00:17:15
that in a minute. So, but yeah, I was like, OK,
00:17:18
here we go back into the war again, right?
00:17:21
And then not only just him, but of course Claire is like, OK,
00:17:25
well. She ain't going nowhere.
00:17:28
Yeah, Y'all are going to need doctors.
00:17:29
So I'll join you. And then Ian is like, yeah, so
00:17:34
I'm going to join too. And Jamie was like, no, I
00:17:36
promise your mother, I was going to bring you home.
00:17:39
You need to go home. And Ian is like this.
00:17:43
I love this land. I want to fight for it.
00:17:46
Because if you think about it, Ian has probably spent just as
00:17:51
much time in the Americas. Yes, he has in Scotland.
00:17:55
I don't remember exactly at this point how many years it's been,
00:17:59
but let's see, I would assume Jeremiah is at this point.
00:18:03
He's probably like 8-9 maybe because Mandy looks like she
00:18:10
could be about four ish. Was that they?
00:18:15
They were talking about her going to school, so she's got to
00:18:17
be about 5. Maybe so.
00:18:21
Yeah. Even is probably been in the
00:18:23
Americas for almost as long as he was in Scotland.
00:18:29
And you gotta remember he has emotional tide to the place.
00:18:33
So you know his first wife, you know, that didn't work out.
00:18:39
His child is buried there. Buried here, so you know, right?
00:18:44
He's a part of the land, so for him this is home too.
00:18:48
And he's not going to leave his aunt and uncle.
00:18:52
He's not going to leave Jamie. Like him and Jamie are bound for
00:18:56
life. And I, you know, I love, I love
00:18:59
the part in this episode where, you know, at the beginning of
00:19:02
the episode we start out with Roger and Brianna at Lallybrock.
00:19:07
They've been there for two years now and they've been renovating
00:19:12
it. And when they're talking to the
00:19:15
contractor, the contractor is like, I'm, I'm glad you guys are
00:19:19
trying to keep the original this, that and the other.
00:19:21
He was like, but Are you sure you're not going to let me patch
00:19:24
that slash at the top of the stairs?
00:19:27
You know, because it looks unsightly and it's the slash
00:19:30
where the British soldiers came through the house the day that
00:19:34
Ian was born, looking for who You remember, Fergus shot off
00:19:40
the gun. So they were looking for the gun
00:19:43
and they were going through the house and they were just being
00:19:46
assholes because they are. And they slashed that portrait
00:19:49
up there. I was like, that's a cute little
00:19:53
throwback, because that was when Ian was born.
00:19:57
Jamie had him in his arms in that bedroom across the way,
00:20:01
trying to make sure that the British didn't find him because
00:20:05
he was. The Dunbonne at the time, and he
00:20:08
was wanted. So I was like, I like the way
00:20:10
that they kind of tired Jamie and Ian's past to Brianna and
00:20:14
Rogers, present or future, however you want to look at.
00:20:18
I like the fact that you have those little ties that that bind
00:20:21
them, even though Brianna and Roger are completely in.
00:20:26
Different time. But I love it too, because it's
00:20:29
like everything that happens, I'm like, how does it relate?
00:20:36
So just like that little, you know, in the opening credits,
00:20:41
you know, they always show scenes from episodes.
00:20:45
They showed the thing about the desk, you know, where somebody
00:20:51
was pulling the covers off the desk.
00:20:52
So I was like, OK, So what desk is that?
00:20:55
I'm trying to remember if there was a desk that was in the first
00:20:59
season or in maybe, let's see, not the first scene.
00:21:02
Yeah, yeah, Jamie did go back to Scotland.
00:21:07
Was that the first season or no, wait, no, it was.
00:21:13
So I was trying to figure out, I was like, OK, so this desk is
00:21:18
going to be important at some point, but I like again seeing
00:21:22
how that, how that's going to tie together because even though
00:21:26
they have the chest from Jamie and Claire.
00:21:31
We haven't really seen them mess with it.
00:21:36
We definitely didn't see them mess with this episode.
00:21:40
No, just the he just had the mud.
00:21:43
That's all he had. And he was like, rubbing it and
00:21:45
was like, yeah, why is this coming out?
00:21:49
He was like, oh wait, this is good.
00:21:51
Gold. Yes.
00:21:52
And then here we go again. I knew you was about to say that
00:21:56
when they did that in the episode when he was talking
00:21:58
about the gold and he showed it to Brianna.
00:22:01
And she was like, or he was like, Do you think we should ask
00:22:04
Jeremiah? And again I said go ask your
00:22:07
child. He's getting too old for this.
00:22:09
I know. Because my time, he's 16.
00:22:11
You'll be like, I don't even know what you're talking about
00:22:13
anymore. I can't even find it for you.
00:22:16
I kind of feel like Jimmy, even though he's living in this time
00:22:22
now, I feel like he's still holding on to, like, the
00:22:26
memories of. His and he is.
00:22:30
I don't. I don't think it all, but still
00:22:33
ask him now because he could, he could show you a little bit
00:22:36
better when y'all go where the gold is.
00:22:39
This is true because yes, because you're in the they're in
00:22:44
the 1980s now there. So of course things will have
00:22:49
changed because even when they, when they came through the
00:22:53
stones at Ocracoke, you know, Ocracoke and the past had all of
00:22:59
the trees, it was a full river. And then when they came through
00:23:03
the stones and they were walking, the river had all but
00:23:05
dried up. So we don't know what else.
00:23:08
What other changes have happened in that part of North Carolina
00:23:12
been stuff torn down, construction.
00:23:16
I know there's not too much you're going to do to get rid of
00:23:18
a cave. But it's not much, and it
00:23:22
depends on what area is if it's a hike.
00:23:26
They'll be okay, but there's a subdivision somewhere around
00:23:28
there or some, you know, cabins, you know, like how we go to the
00:23:35
cabins. But that's it.
00:23:37
Yeah, but it's. But the landscape around it is
00:23:40
going to change. So it should be different for
00:23:43
him. He won't know like.
00:23:45
He won't know Like, Oh my goodness, this is so.
00:23:48
Ask the child. Don't think about it.
00:23:54
When I saw it, I said, oh, Michelle's going to be like,
00:23:56
yes, ask him, Yes, I'm thinking, oh, this is where they going to
00:23:59
call him in. You're worried about some
00:24:02
biscuits missing? No.
00:24:05
Let's find out about this gold Okay.
00:24:08
And so that's the other thing, because Jimmy is talking about
00:24:11
this knucklevee and he says that they've been seeing someone or
00:24:17
something, and this thing threatened to hurt Mandy if he
00:24:22
said anything about it. And I was like, so in the books
00:24:26
when I was reading, I was up to the part about the knucklevee.
00:24:30
And that's what I was talking to you about when I said there's
00:24:32
something going on with Jimmy and Mandy keep coming across
00:24:36
like a spirit or a person there. But I never found out who or
00:24:41
what that thing was. I didn't get that far.
00:24:44
So now we're at a point in the show where I'm complete.
00:24:46
Like I have no idea what's going on completely.
00:24:50
So I'm here, yeah. I I don't, I'm, I don't know if
00:24:53
it's a spirit or a person. I'm feeling like if he eating a
00:24:57
biscuits or she eating a biscuits, it has to be a yeah,
00:25:01
that'd be a physical being, but I'm like.
00:25:03
Because the Spirit is not going to want to eat to crisp and
00:25:08
biscuits with honey. But it does call the question
00:25:14
who, Yeah, like who? Like, is this somebody who has
00:25:18
ties to Jamie's family, or is it somebody who has ties to Roger?
00:25:24
Could it be a, could it be another traveler who knows about
00:25:27
them? And it's like, I don't.
00:25:30
I don't. Know it's like I'm not wanted to
00:25:32
be one of those three things, though.
00:25:33
I don't want it to be like a complete stranger that has no
00:25:36
point. No, I wanted it to be some
00:25:41
someone connected to the family. It has to be.
00:25:48
It will be real. I'll take a traveler.
00:25:52
I'll take a relative. See, I thought at first I was
00:25:58
like, maybe it could be like one of them traveling through
00:26:05
through time or whatever. You know, like, you know how you
00:26:08
see sometimes you'll see somebody seeing a version of
00:26:11
themselves. But even if it was, let's say,
00:26:15
Roger traveling back from some other time or whatever, I don't
00:26:21
think that he would threaten the.
00:26:23
No, he wouldn't have. Not him.
00:26:26
No. So I definitely don't think it
00:26:29
would be Bree or Claire, because.
00:26:32
But you know what? Roger would do it if he's
00:26:34
thinking about. See this is where other time
00:26:36
travel movies. Played in my head about the
00:26:40
paradox and you don't want the paradox to happen.
00:26:43
So the only way for the kids not to say daddy is you eating the
00:26:48
biscuits is the threatening and say don't say anything about me
00:26:52
because but. I don't.
00:26:53
But it's not. It's not Roger.
00:26:55
It's not Roger. He wouldn't say I'll hurt Mandy.
00:27:00
If you say something, he wouldn't do that.
00:27:02
And then like, like you said, Jim would recognize if it was
00:27:05
his father, right? That's what I'm saying.
00:27:07
So it it, it can't be the immediate family.
00:27:10
So it has to be like a relative because at this point and you
00:27:14
will be able to help me. So where is Jamie sister's kids
00:27:18
besides Ian? Like, where's their great
00:27:21
grandkids? Like, where are the rest of the
00:27:23
family? Are they spread out?
00:27:26
I mean, I don't know. Do they talk about in the books
00:27:29
at all? Not that I know I haven't
00:27:31
gotten. That like, where where they are,
00:27:34
Like, are they in America or moved?
00:27:38
Yeah, because you got to think like, well, so I remember back
00:27:46
in season two or three had to be two.
00:27:54
It was before. It was before Jamie sent Claire
00:27:57
back. He signed the deed.
00:28:03
Matter of fact, was it Ian that he signed the deed over to you
00:28:10
Remember, right before, right before the Battle of Culloden,
00:28:15
Jamie and Claire went to sign over the deed of Lallybrock.
00:28:18
That way, when he died, Lallybrock would stay safe.
00:28:23
Or I think it was before. He did.
00:28:26
I remember it. But who I think it was in, I'm
00:28:31
thinking. So if that was the case, Ian's
00:28:37
children, if they did go back to Scotland, if he had children, we
00:28:42
don't know what's going on. We do know that there's a little
00:28:44
flirtation with him and Miss Hunter, but is that enough to
00:28:48
result in a marriage? And if so, if Ian decided to go
00:28:51
back to Scotland, would she have gone with him?
00:28:54
I have no idea about these, right?
00:28:55
We have no idea. So that's just that's the hard
00:28:58
part. So I I would, I would probably
00:29:01
say it's safe to say that maybe just throughout the generations,
00:29:06
Jamie's family scattered. Just kind of scattered and I
00:29:11
hate that. Just, I guess just kind of got
00:29:15
left by the wayside until Roger and Rihanna.
00:29:18
Got it for it. But I I don't know.
00:29:24
You know, at first I thought I was like okay, maybe it's when
00:29:26
to go down or coming back like, but I was like, no, he wouldn't
00:29:30
have known about Lally Brock. Because it has to be, right.
00:29:35
I don't know who it could be to sit there.
00:29:38
And obviously he's been coming more than once for, you know,
00:29:42
Jimmy to mention it. This is not just a one time
00:29:46
thing like, oh, the knuckle, the knuckle of V you know, we saw
00:29:51
one one time. I don't think.
00:29:53
I think it's a recurring thing, or at least it was in the books
00:29:56
where it was somebody who was coming regularly.
00:30:00
But I think Roger and Brianna thought that Jim was just kind
00:30:07
of making it up at first, because of course he missed
00:30:10
everything. And he couldn't talk about, you
00:30:13
know, granddad. Yeah, so, so, I don't know, but
00:30:19
it's like I'm trying to speculate and just from what we
00:30:24
know about time travel and the people that we know, I feel like
00:30:29
I was like okay. So can't be clear.
00:30:31
It's not Brianna, it's not Roger.
00:30:33
Those three? Definitely not aside from Galas
00:30:39
Duncan. I mean, it could be one of her
00:30:43
other descendants, because Roger is a descendant of hers.
00:30:48
So you know, but I I don't know. What if it's or or it could be
00:30:53
Roger's dad. Oh, that's a good theory.
00:31:00
Could be, it could be. I still don't.
00:31:03
Because you said that he was. He's missing.
00:31:06
But we're figuring out what? Did they actually say where he
00:31:09
is? In the books, like is he in the
00:31:14
stones or is he missing? Like I think far as Roger knows,
00:31:18
his father died, but I don't think I don't.
00:31:23
I don't recall the details on that, like whether or not they
00:31:26
ever found him or whether he was trapped in the stones.
00:31:32
I do remember that there. Was I hear a lot about Trapped
00:31:35
in the stones. So I'm like, well, maybe he's
00:31:37
out of the stones. Could be.
00:31:40
I still don't know if I feel like he would say I will hurt
00:31:42
your sister. I will hurt her if you say
00:31:45
anything about me, especially if he's figuring out that this is
00:31:48
his family. But again, the other thing is if
00:31:52
it's Rogers father, unless he followed them from the Wakefield
00:31:57
residence to Lally Brock, I don't see why he would be there
00:32:01
at Lallybrock because he wouldn't know of Rogers
00:32:04
connection to. Lally, no.
00:32:05
But he could have followed, you know what I'm saying?
00:32:07
He could have followed them, yeah.
00:32:09
And that's another thing too. I was like, how far is the
00:32:12
Wakefield residence from Lallybrock?
00:32:16
Because for them to be staying in a caravan in front of
00:32:19
Lallybrock for two years while it's being renovated, I was
00:32:22
like, look, we can go stay at the.
00:32:28
I think it's. I think it's far.
00:32:30
Yeah, it was like a day trip. I think it's far, Yeah, yeah, I
00:32:35
know that. But the caravan look nice.
00:32:37
I mean, they got a decoration on the outside.
00:32:39
So I'm like, OK, so it's taking some time to really make years
00:32:42
though you're in in that little thing with little kids, first of
00:32:47
all. But land?
00:32:49
Look at the land. Once we go outside, it's like
00:32:52
the people who live in RV's. We just going to go to sleep in
00:32:55
there and when it rains and but you are a young married couple
00:33:02
there's like how do you find private.
00:33:06
Time you go to the house and lay a blanket down when the kids are
00:33:11
sleeping. They've been, they were out,
00:33:14
they've been outside a lot of times and in that house, in the
00:33:18
one room that's renovated. The first room was the kitchen,
00:33:24
so they probably not all over that kitchen.
00:33:29
Look his office. Look good.
00:33:31
Stay in that office, too, on the desk.
00:33:34
That office looks good. Right in the chair, though, to
00:33:38
think about this is supposed to be Lolly Brock.
00:33:41
And the sea is so, you know, for those times modernized.
00:33:46
It's just it's really weird because I'm sitting there trying
00:33:49
to imagine, like, you remember seeing Lally Brock earlier on
00:33:55
and I was just like, OK, so where are where were those
00:33:58
stairs supposed to be? And I know that was where he
00:34:00
brought them in to talk to them. So it was so weird to see no
00:34:04
stone, no floors, all of that. And it's like just trying to
00:34:08
imagine Jenny coming down those stairs pregnant and standing by
00:34:12
the fireplace. It was.
00:34:13
It's so strange to think about it like that and to see it the
00:34:17
way it is now. You know, oh, look, remember
00:34:21
that secret room in the pantry? That's still that works, yes,
00:34:30
because that's the place where Jimmy locked Amanda, right?
00:34:36
So they got, they got plenty of, they got plenty of spaces.
00:34:39
This is true, but I'm sorry, plenty of spaces I'm not.
00:34:43
I'm not trying to have relations on a stone floor.
00:34:47
That's just that can't be comfortable.
00:34:50
They have. No.
00:34:51
Well, now it's not. I didn't say they were laying,
00:34:56
but okay, we're going to leave Brianna a little bit because we
00:35:02
got some other Well, no, let's go.
00:35:03
Let's. I I loved how she got her job.
00:35:07
Oh, yes, Okay, Yes. Let's go ahead and talk about
00:35:09
that and then we'll go back to the other interesting stuff.
00:35:13
Yeah, I love how she got her job.
00:35:16
She's definitely her mother's daughter.
00:35:18
Yeah, she is. And it really did take Roger a
00:35:22
minute to understand. Honey, we're not back in the
00:35:26
day. I need you to be a little bit
00:35:29
more present. You know, I'm an independent
00:35:31
woman. I'm going to go to work.
00:35:34
Yeah. And I don't, you know, it's it's
00:35:38
strange seeing it that way, but I think a lot of that for Roger,
00:35:43
if you think about it, when he first went back in time for her,
00:35:48
he had some of the same struggles because he couldn't
00:35:51
really do what he had been doing back in the past because how do
00:35:57
you go from teaching history to teaching current?
00:36:02
Current affairs, current events without kind of overseeing.
00:36:08
And then, you know, then he got conscripted into to the war.
00:36:13
And it's like all of that stuff that he learned during the times
00:36:16
when he should have been building a career for himself.
00:36:19
Now that he's back here, it's like.
00:36:22
What I do, he's writing, he's writing.
00:36:26
But he did say, and it's fine, I I I feel like sometimes we give
00:36:31
people a hard time, sometimes when they say that they a little
00:36:34
a touch, he said. I'm a bit oldfashed.
00:36:37
Yeah, because you can integrate those two.
00:36:39
He's a little oldfashioned. That's Okay.
00:36:41
He just wanted his. He just feels like he should be
00:36:44
able to support them. But it's Okay, honey.
00:36:47
But the other you'll find the gold and you can't support it.
00:36:51
But I think that the kind of double meaning behind that I'm
00:36:55
oldfashioned. Roger was a modern guy and he
00:36:59
went backwards to 200 years and he had to live amongst men in
00:37:05
that time. And even though, yes, Brianna
00:37:07
was still a little more independent than the women of
00:37:10
that time, he still had not necessarily an image, He still
00:37:16
had responsibilities and he still had expectations that he
00:37:20
was expected to maintain for that time period.
00:37:24
And so I think. And this one too.
00:37:27
And this one. And this one too, because we're
00:37:30
not like it's current, we're not in the present.
00:37:33
So you got to go back to where they are.
00:37:35
And he should be supporting his, you know, family.
00:37:39
But he, he has a highly, highly strong, independent woman.
00:37:45
He does. But also how do you support them
00:37:48
when the one thing you were so confident about doing your faith
00:37:54
has now been shaken? So it's kind of like you're
00:37:59
coming back to this thing probably like close to your 30s
00:38:02
now, if he's not already 30, or maybe a little bit older than
00:38:06
that. And Oh yeah, cuz Claire, 61.
00:38:10
That means they are close to 40 now, but you have to come back
00:38:14
to a time and now you have to read.
00:38:18
You have to figure out who you are again, because you have to.
00:38:23
Be a pastor, being a pastor, and now your face is taken because
00:38:26
you're like, hey, if God, if God existed, if God was in control,
00:38:31
then how were we able to do this?
00:38:32
How were we able to change the the past so that your parents
00:38:37
survived? And because they have no clue
00:38:40
that the obituary was placed in error, so technically speaking
00:38:46
they they probably didn't change anything.
00:38:51
You know, you didn't think about that, knowing that.
00:38:53
No, Roger has no way of knowing that, so.
00:38:57
It's But honestly, they they didn't change it.
00:38:59
It was always going to happen this way.
00:39:01
That's the whole that's the whole problem with time travel.
00:39:03
It was always going to happen this way.
00:39:06
That's what I'm saying. Yeah, but they don't get they
00:39:09
don't know that because one, they didn't know what date the
00:39:14
the obituary was. They just read.
00:39:16
They just remember that Jamie and Claire died in the fire.
00:39:20
Well, the fire happened and they didn't die, so he's just
00:39:23
automatically assuming, oh hey, we changed it.
00:39:27
You know, not realize. Oh, the obituary was actually
00:39:30
placed after the fire, because someone else thought that.
00:39:34
They were dead. Yeah, so.
00:39:37
And you are always going to go back and Brianna was always
00:39:40
going to make that match. And she shouldn't have made and
00:39:47
clear was in the car and the airplane.
00:39:50
But that's another day or time. Yeah, we'll talk about that in
00:39:53
another. But yeah, so if it, I don't
00:39:57
know, Roger's going to have to figure some stuff out.
00:39:59
Like he probably could go back to teaching.
00:40:02
But he won. He's been gone for so long, he's
00:40:05
probably going to have to go back to school, at least for a
00:40:08
little bit. He's going to have to, you know,
00:40:11
again, they've been back for roughly 2 years, maybe close to
00:40:15
three years at this point. But still, is that enough time
00:40:18
for you to catch up on everything and then fall back
00:40:21
into the role that you were in before you left?
00:40:25
You have a whole different set of life experience now than when
00:40:29
you were here before. And it's kind of like, how do
00:40:34
you, how do you go and teach what you're supposed to teach
00:40:39
when you have insider knowledge of other things that happen that
00:40:44
may not be public knowledge that may not be in the history books?
00:40:49
How do you go and and integrate what you know with what you're
00:40:55
supposed to teach and still when keep yourself safe?
00:41:02
Because of course, if you start saying some things that you may
00:41:05
not need to be saying, people are going to start looking at
00:41:07
you like OK, something is. Wrong.
00:41:09
Yeah, we had to commit him. Yeah.
00:41:14
So it's one of those things where I guess Roger's going to
00:41:16
have to figure it out. But in the meantime, Brianna
00:41:21
knows what she wants to do. She's been knowing what she
00:41:24
wanted to do. And even when she was at The
00:41:26
Ridge, she was doing those things, you know, she was trying
00:41:30
to figure out how to do like not necessarily indoor plumbing but
00:41:35
you know, try to figure out a way to get them water and to do
00:41:38
this and to do that. So this is kind of right up her
00:41:43
alley. But yeah, let's talk about the
00:41:47
that interview, because when it happens, when she said she had a
00:41:51
job interview and she was sitting there and the guy was
00:41:54
sitting there eating the sandwich and what did he say?
00:41:58
If you could, don't you want to go get us some coffee?
00:42:01
If you could, if you could follow those directions, you're
00:42:04
going to do good here. I was like whatever job she's
00:42:07
applying for, I don't. I don't see that.
00:42:09
Working out at all because of the way that he was talking to
00:42:13
her and then when she was looking at the cafeteria lady,
00:42:16
like, Can you believe this, the cafeteria lady is looking at her
00:42:19
like this is this is what happens.
00:42:22
This is normal. Like, she wasn't bothered by it.
00:42:27
And then when Breanna sits down and she gives him her resume and
00:42:30
she was like, so here are my qualifications.
00:42:34
I've studied this, I've done this, I've done this work and
00:42:37
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And he was looking at her.
00:42:39
He was like, hold up. I think there's a
00:42:41
misunderstanding. We're needing the secretary.
00:42:43
She was like, okay. That's all well and good, but
00:42:47
that's. Not what I'm applying for.
00:42:49
That's not what I'm here for. I'm here for the plan inspector
00:42:52
position. It's like, but you can't do
00:42:57
that, you're a woman, she said. And the way that she said,
00:43:03
because it was like she was, she was confident of what she was
00:43:07
going to ask, But at the same time, I think she was trying to
00:43:10
figure out, OK, is this the right thing for me to do?
00:43:13
Like she was kind of, I don't want to say hesitant, but it's
00:43:16
like she's trying to, she's trying to be tactful, but she's
00:43:21
also trying to say you're not about to push me away.
00:43:25
And it just came across she was like, So what part of this job
00:43:31
requires you to have a penis? And the guy was like.
00:43:34
Like, did she just say that to me?
00:43:36
He was looking around like, did anybody else hear her saying?
00:43:40
And then he was like, that's it's a rough job.
00:43:43
You know and then and she she did it with look at her face.
00:43:46
Like, I'm really asking you because like maybe I read the
00:43:50
description of the job wrong. Like, what requires you to have,
00:43:54
right? Like this is not rhetorical.
00:43:56
And he was like, oh, this job is rough and you know, the guys or
00:44:01
blah, blah, blah. She was like, so you mean to
00:44:04
tell me that you hire, you hire guys that will assault with.
00:44:07
And he was like, no, no, But I was like she is definitely her
00:44:11
mother's daughter because she is just telling him and he's just
00:44:15
looking so uncomfortable. Like everything that he's saying
00:44:19
she's rebutting. And then she was like, oh, OK,
00:44:22
so while we're here, let me tell you that I saw you had water
00:44:26
coming out the spillway over the dam.
00:44:29
And it should be doing this and it should be doing that.
00:44:31
And that means that this is wrong and blah, blah, blah,
00:44:33
blah, blah. And, you know, if you give me a
00:44:35
moment, I can tell you what's wrong with it.
00:44:38
I can tell you how to fix it efficiently.
00:44:40
And you know, he was just looking at her like, what else
00:44:46
can I say? Clear.
00:44:48
Do you need to give her the job, right?
00:44:50
Because after all of that, she's clearly proven that she knows
00:44:55
what she's doing. And.
00:44:57
She can handle the men. We'll see.
00:45:01
We'll see. But I mean, for now, she can
00:45:04
handle him. Right.
00:45:06
But I'm. I'm kind of feeling like you she
00:45:09
can handle the men, if you can handle the men back in, back in
00:45:12
the day. This is so you know what I'm
00:45:15
saying? So like, honey, I've been
00:45:17
through a lot. I can handle this job but.
00:45:24
They're not going to scare me off.
00:45:26
No, they're not. But she didn't even have that
00:45:29
problem back. Well, I will say this too.
00:45:33
Aside from Stephen Bonnet, nobody really messed with her
00:45:37
like that. No, because she had a lot of
00:45:40
confidence beforehand. I mean, we can say all we want
00:45:45
to say about her dad. But he did a lot with her, you
00:45:50
know what I'm saying? So I guess like you said, he
00:45:53
knew that she was going to go back because he he prepared.
00:45:58
I don't feel like she prepared it because I'm going to be
00:46:01
honest with you. We can we can all disagree or
00:46:04
agree. I don't know how it's written in
00:46:05
the books. I don't feel like she was really
00:46:07
close to her mom until after the truth came out.
00:46:11
Yeah, we, yeah, we talked about that.
00:46:13
We thought, OK, so we're all clear on their relationship was.
00:46:16
Exchange. So she's like her mother.
00:46:19
She's like her mother. She's already was strong.
00:46:22
But her dad also like continued to Foster and encourage that.
00:46:27
Yeah. So because, I mean Claire, like
00:46:31
I said a couple of episodes ago, she could only, I feel like
00:46:36
there was that wall between her and Brianna.
00:46:38
Because of course, one you look at Brianna, you see Jamie, and
00:46:43
this is somebody that you loved so desperately, so deeply, so,
00:46:46
like completely. And you can't even talk about it
00:46:51
because of the agreement you made with Frank?
00:46:54
So then I feel like not only because she looked like Jamie,
00:47:00
but also because she may have been compelled to tell Brianna
00:47:04
the truth at any moment. And so instead of doing that,
00:47:07
she's just like, OK, you know what?
00:47:10
And I don't think it's something she did.
00:47:12
No. And and then input and then
00:47:14
pursuing her career, she just, she just went full steam ahead
00:47:20
too, you know what I'm saying? And she knew she was being taken
00:47:23
care of with Frank. I don't think it was purpose,
00:47:25
but you know she just had a little distance with her
00:47:27
daughter and that happens. So I think in a in a sense that
00:47:32
also made Brianna tougher too, you know, because she did have
00:47:37
to kind of stand up for herself in a lot of things.
00:47:40
And then you go 200 years into the past and you have a father
00:47:46
like Jamie Fraser who's going to, one, also teach you about
00:47:51
what you need to survive back then.
00:47:53
And two, is not going to let anybody touch her, you know?
00:48:00
And then she had Roger as well. So, yeah, what was it Roger
00:48:05
said, He said, I'm not worried about you.
00:48:07
I'm. I'm worried about the men that
00:48:09
you're going to be working for because they don't know what
00:48:11
that they don't know what they have coming.
00:48:15
They don't because they think, oh, this she a regular woman.
00:48:21
And she's probably, she's probably going to be smaller
00:48:24
than the rest of them. Like they'll probably have some
00:48:27
big dudes working and then she's going to be this little thing
00:48:31
and they're going to be like, are we supposed to take orders
00:48:33
from her? No, because, you know, that's
00:48:35
how it is, especially this 1980s.
00:48:38
Yeah, it's probably going to be. So we about to see, but yeah,
00:48:42
that was, that was a very fun, fun interview.
00:48:48
I don't think you don't have many interviews like that.
00:48:51
That was a fun one to watch. That dude, he just looked like,
00:48:55
what the hell to say? No, you can.
00:48:57
In real life, we're not going to have one of those interviews
00:48:59
because we're not going to get a job.
00:49:02
Nope. It worked for her.
00:49:05
It's going to be the little more submissive or a.
00:49:08
Little more. Whatever.
00:49:09
Whatever. Especially when you can't ask a
00:49:12
person, just imagine you being you ask.
00:49:14
So what part of the job requires a penis?
00:49:17
Do you already know? Go ahead and walk away, right?
00:49:23
Because in this day and age somebody, you ask somebody that
00:49:26
they're probably going to be like, oh, that's a walking HR
00:49:28
violation. Let me not let.
00:49:33
Me, because they will find some things that we're doing wrong,
00:49:37
but they'll probably be like, oh.
00:49:39
She's the type of person who's going to say anything.
00:49:41
And yeah, they're not going to want to deal with that.
00:49:45
No. And see when there's injustices
00:49:48
and. And point them out, yeah.
00:49:51
So yeah, let's see. Anything else we need to discuss
00:49:57
about the future before we go back to the past?
00:49:59
Because I really want to talk about Mr. No, The future of
00:50:05
Ellesmere. The future is good.
00:50:08
OK? The future is good.
00:50:10
So let's talk about the 9th girl of Ellesmere, Mr. William
00:50:14
Ransom. So at the beginning of the
00:50:16
episode, we see him and his cousin Hal's son, which I was
00:50:21
like, where the hell is Hal? You know Laura, John's brother?
00:50:25
I don't know. He was still alive, but
00:50:27
apparently he is. And his son is also part of the
00:50:30
army. He's getting shipped out to New
00:50:32
York, and William is not yet. I don't think he's been assigned
00:50:37
anywhere. But while they're out, you know,
00:50:40
drinking, first of all, the cousin puking his guts out,
00:50:48
mouthful of vomit stuff, and you going to pull out your you going
00:50:57
to pull out your flask and share your alcohol with the same
00:51:01
person. I was like, you know what?
00:51:02
This is why people back in the 1700s got sick and died so much.
00:51:07
Yeah, like I understand alcohol is supposed to kill germs, but
00:51:11
ill he literally just finished throwing up anyway.
00:51:17
So they come around the corner and there's a commotion because
00:51:20
one of the British officers has been in a whorehouse and he has
00:51:24
kicked the whore out onto the street because he says she has
00:51:28
the pox and tried to give it to him.
00:51:30
Now of course, she claims that she didn't.
00:51:32
She didn't know and he is being very cruel to her and being
00:51:39
encouraged to do it by his other soldiers.
00:51:42
While William and his cousin kind of look on and horror, that
00:51:45
is the one thing I will say. William had a look of horror on
00:51:48
his face. So I was like okay.
00:51:50
We see he did not like the other British soldiers.
00:51:55
So this dude sets this woman on fire and everybody else is just
00:52:00
sitting there chanting, let her burn, let her burn or whatever
00:52:04
it was they were chanting. William is the only person who
00:52:08
comes to her aid. He takes off his coat, he puts
00:52:11
it on her, but it's a little too late because the fire has raised
00:52:16
just that much and she's like severely injured.
00:52:20
So then he gets ready to fight the person who set her on fire.
00:52:25
And of course, you know, commanding officer comes out and
00:52:28
the the Madam of the whorehouse comes out and they have to break
00:52:32
up the fight. But immediately I was like, OK,
00:52:35
so and I feel like from the beginning you're you're showing
00:52:39
us who William is as a person because.
00:52:43
It's only even we we have only met him as a child, and then
00:52:49
that brief introduction with him and Lord John when Brianna meets
00:52:53
him. So you're showing us this is a
00:52:56
man who is compassionate, this is a man who is not cruel, very
00:53:01
much like his birth father and very much like Lord John.
00:53:05
Right. And you had to, because that
00:53:07
doesn't. Just because your dad is
00:53:10
compassionate and kind, the one that's raising your Lord John
00:53:13
doesn't mean that you are. So we needed to see what type of
00:53:17
character he is. So he is a loyal soldier to
00:53:25
Britain and the next day he is called by his commanding officer
00:53:32
to complete a task. You know, the commanding
00:53:34
officer, even kind of, you know, praises him for what he did.
00:53:38
He said, I heard that there was some trouble last night.
00:53:40
I also heard only one soldier stepped in and you know, William
00:53:46
was like, it didn't do much good because apparently the, you
00:53:49
know, she died. But the commanding officer says
00:53:53
to him, he was like, but you know, it takes a strong person
00:53:58
or brave person to stand up to your fellow soldiers because
00:54:02
everybody else knows, I I can guarantee you, if it wasn't for
00:54:06
William's title, they probably would have jumped him that night
00:54:12
for stepping in, for confronting the other soldier.
00:54:16
They probably would have, they probably would have attacked
00:54:20
him, they probably would have beaten him.
00:54:22
But because he is who he is, they're not going to touch him,
00:54:27
not to. Me who his dad is, you're not
00:54:31
going to touch him. So I kind of feel like the the
00:54:38
mission that the officer gave to William, I feel like, yes, you
00:54:44
gave it to him because of the type of character he has where
00:54:47
you know that he is loyal, he is strong, he is going to do what
00:54:51
he's supposed to do. But I also feel like you did it
00:54:54
to kind of get him away from those other people as well so
00:54:58
that that that kind of thing won't happen.
00:55:01
But he gives, he gives William 3 missives and he's like, they're
00:55:04
supposed to go to these three people don't look at the
00:55:07
contents and their names will not be on it.
00:55:10
So you have to memorize the names.
00:55:12
So William takes off on his horse to go to, I think it was
00:55:18
Virginia, where he's supposed to deliver these letters.
00:55:21
Now while he's getting ready, while he's doing this, he comes
00:55:25
across a snake in the road and his horse gets startled and
00:55:31
bucks him off the horse. He rolls down the hill and as
00:55:37
he's rolling a stick, embeds itself in his arm.
00:55:42
No. And he was looking at that like,
00:55:44
Oh my God, that's so gross. And looking at his wound, and
00:55:47
that's so gross. And I was sitting here thinking
00:55:49
to myself, Hanukkah, you watch The Walking Dead every fucking
00:55:53
week. And this is gross.
00:55:56
I thought the same thing, though.
00:55:57
I was like his arm, that stick it it yeah, it looks painful.
00:56:03
Well, because with everything that happens in The Walking
00:56:07
Dead, you're like, OK, but this is something like, literally, I
00:56:09
can go outside and stumble and that can happen to me.
00:56:14
So it was a little. Bit more realistic so that like
00:56:17
that literally can happen. He's doing it in a time where
00:56:20
they don't have antibiotics, he does access, declares
00:56:24
Penicillin. Well.
00:56:27
Like, pulled the stick out, dude.
00:56:28
Pulled it out, pulled the stick out, pulled it out and wrapped
00:56:31
his arm. Now I would give.
00:56:33
I would give it to him. He kept going on his mission
00:56:37
through the Great Dismal Swamp. He kept going.
00:56:43
He kept. He kept on with his mission on
00:56:45
foot because his horse bolted after the whole snake incident.
00:56:50
But of course you can see him as he's going through.
00:56:52
He's getting weaker and weaker from the blood loss or maybe at
00:56:57
this point his arm has gotten infected or something like that.
00:57:01
So he's standing by the stream and he hears something and he
00:57:05
turns around in this in and roll out because Ian like he told
00:57:09
Jamie he went to go treat with was it the the Squaney he said
00:57:17
Indians where he try to say hey you guys come fight on our side
00:57:21
instead of on the British side. So Ian comes to him and they
00:57:26
have a little conversation and William is proud but he's also
00:57:33
hurt so he has to ask for help. He's asking for food and drink.
00:57:36
And Ian was like you don't look like you have any money.
00:57:39
He was like, I don't have any now, but I can get, I can get
00:57:43
you some And then you know that's when Ian sees the wound
00:57:46
and he asked him his name and when he says William Ransom
00:57:50
Ian's like. I know who you are, my cousin.
00:57:57
So he does tell William that you know Jamie is his uncle and that
00:58:03
he knows Lord John. He also said, yeah, I've met you
00:58:06
before too, when you came to Fraser's Ridge.
00:58:09
That was so long ago. And William is like, I I'm
00:58:12
sorry, I don't remember. So they start having
00:58:15
conversations about different things.
00:58:17
And he asked William, excuse me. William asked Ian about his time
00:58:21
with the Mohawk. And they they come to a
00:58:24
conversation where they talking about death.
00:58:27
Because William, of course, is thinking that he's probably
00:58:30
going to die because of this disinfection.
00:58:33
And it's so weird because he's saying this.
00:58:35
And then at the same time he's telling he's telling Ian he
00:58:38
doesn't need a doctor. Because Ian is like, we got to
00:58:40
find you a doctor. I don't need a doctor.
00:58:42
He was like, yeah, OK. You need a doctor so Ian gets to
00:58:47
work cleaning out the wound because still has wood splinters
00:58:51
in it which I'm like those out you can walk around for how long
00:58:56
with wood splinters you weren't even thinking that.
00:58:58
You just took the big chunk out and was like OK I'm good wrap it
00:59:02
up and keep going. But the moment that your arm got
00:59:06
this big and it's red like yours, your uniform something
00:59:11
should have told you to look at that wound and see what was
00:59:14
going on. But you know I guess they don't
00:59:17
do medical. I guess they don't do first Day
00:59:19
101 and British soldier training.
00:59:27
So they're having a conversation about death songs and Ian was
00:59:31
telling telling him about death songs that the that the Mohawk
00:59:36
do when you know someone comes to the end of their life and you
00:59:39
know they sing songs about them. And so William starts trying to
00:59:43
to compose his own death song, even though, as he says, he
00:59:46
doesn't have enough life experience to put in a death
00:59:49
song. So he names his full name,
00:59:52
William, Clarence, whatever, whatever, whatever.
00:59:55
And then he says, no, that's too long.
00:59:58
And then he says his name again, William James.
01:00:02
And Ian just kind of looks at him and I was like name Jamie
01:00:08
gave him when he made him a quote UN quote, stinking papist
01:00:12
and. He.
01:00:13
Said I want to papers name too. And Jamie named to William
01:00:18
James. I was like, you don't remember
01:00:20
most of the other stuff, but you remember that, right?
01:00:25
But but then how would Ian, Why would Ian look like?
01:00:29
That's interesting? Because he did look like Because
01:00:31
he. Had the name James because,
01:00:33
remember, William doesn't know that Jamie is his father.
01:00:36
Oh, because oh, the James. OK, yeah, I ain't thinking about
01:00:39
it. That would because if you name
01:00:41
your if you, that's obvious. I wasn't thinking about it.
01:00:44
Yeah. If you say your name is William
01:00:46
Clarence, blah, blah, blah, blah, all this other stuff.
01:00:49
And then my short name is William James.
01:00:53
Like, why would you come up with the name James just all of a
01:00:56
sudden? So I think at that point,
01:00:58
William, I mean, Ian really knew like, oh, OK, so Uncle gave him
01:01:04
that name, even if William does not remember that, but he does
01:01:10
remember that name. And I was just like, oh that.
01:01:15
To me, that was I I don't know. It it kind of touched me because
01:01:23
every time that we've seen William, like even the time when
01:01:26
he came to Fraser's Ridge, that wasn't that long after Jamie
01:01:34
left Hellwater, you know, it may have been a few years, but it
01:01:38
shouldn't have been long enough that William wouldn't have
01:01:43
remembered him. And even though, yes, in that
01:01:46
episode when we saw the meet again, he was like, was your
01:01:49
name Mac? Did you used to be the, you
01:01:52
know, the stable man or the groom at you know, hell water.
01:01:55
Do you know me? Do you Remember Me?
01:01:56
That sort of thing. It's like even though he doesn't
01:02:02
remember certain things like he he didn't remember meeting Ian
01:02:06
at Fraser's Ridge and there's only a few other things that he
01:02:09
does remember from that time. Clearly that stuck out sounds
01:02:14
like. Okay.
01:02:15
I wonder now that he's older, like will he start putting
01:02:18
things together if it start like Because even though granted he
01:02:23
does not look exactly like Jamie because of course you would
01:02:26
literally have to find a twin of Sam Hewan, I feel like they did
01:02:31
good with the casting. He does have enough of a look
01:02:35
that would make you think if you put him and Jamie together you
01:02:40
would probably look and be like. Something about the way he
01:02:43
carries himself, you know, and I know that's probably conscious
01:02:50
on the actors part. So yeah, he's a big boy too.
01:02:55
Yeah, yeah, but I was just like when he said William James.
01:03:00
I was like okay then Ian is sitting there like Okay.
01:03:05
I'm I'm sitting here treating my cousin and I can't say that
01:03:09
you're my cousin, but. It's one of those things where I
01:03:13
think Ian feels like okay, Even though you are a redcoat, I have
01:03:18
an obligation to you because you are family.
01:03:21
So he does, Yeah. So he does take William to a
01:03:25
town where he is heard that there is a doctor and this is
01:03:29
where we meet the hunters. And I was like, okay the moment
01:03:36
Miss Hunter. Stepped outside and she started
01:03:39
talking. The way she looked at Ian and
01:03:41
the way he looked at her, I was like, this is gonna be Ian's
01:03:44
happy ending. Yeah, I was like Sparkles Can.
01:03:47
I I'm excited so and I don't know anything about the hunters
01:03:52
from the book. I don't know anything.
01:03:55
I haven't heard anything, so I'm just speculating.
01:03:59
But I was like, that was a look that passed there and they
01:04:03
wanted us to see it because they they had both had a pause
01:04:06
looking at each other like, oh, like you're familiar, like
01:04:10
there's a connection. Hey, Rachel didn't.
01:04:14
Rachel couldn't even speak, though.
01:04:15
Rachel came out, got the horse and looked at in and looked at
01:04:20
her. Yeah.
01:04:25
So I thought it was interesting. I was like, OK, so you guys are
01:04:31
showing us who Ian's future wife is.
01:04:33
OK, cool. I don't know.
01:04:36
I don't know if this is his future wife.
01:04:37
I'm just speculating. Like I said, because of the
01:04:40
look, I'm like, yeah, there's about to be something here.
01:04:42
I was too. And then I was thinking, OK, now
01:04:46
we have diverted to one of my other romance novels because by
01:04:50
the end of the episode, Rachel was a tab bit friendly with
01:04:56
William, with William and William.
01:05:00
But William flirts with everyone, I realized, because he
01:05:02
was halfway flirting with his sister and he was flirting with
01:05:06
Rachel. So William's A flirt.
01:05:09
William is just charismatic and flirting with when the women
01:05:13
come around. Yeah, well, I mean, he goes by
01:05:16
honestly. Yeah, he does.
01:05:18
That's what I'm saying. So he.
01:05:20
Even with Laura John. Even though we know Laura John
01:05:22
is gay and we know that he has no interest in the women, the
01:05:26
time being him. Yes, the women have all been
01:05:30
like, like when he came to Brianna's rescue and offered to
01:05:34
marry her, like all the men in the room were pissed.
01:05:37
All the women in the room were like, Oh my God, like he's
01:05:40
choosing her, He's choosing her. And then what was the other
01:05:45
instant? I think it was Jacosta's wedding
01:05:51
where he was there dancing and there were some women looking
01:05:53
like, oh, Lord John, right. So he, he got, he got it honest,
01:05:58
right. So he was he was kind of
01:06:01
flirting with, you know, Rachel too at the end when she was, you
01:06:04
know, shaving his face. So I was like, wait a second, is
01:06:08
this going to be a be a little triangle?
01:06:11
Well, I I was thinking about that too.
01:06:14
Because when, when they come. You know, at this point William
01:06:18
is pretty much, he's in bad shape and.
01:06:22
When Ian leaves like Okay, they go through this whole thing
01:06:26
where they have William on the table and they think they're
01:06:28
going to have to amputate his arm because the infection is
01:06:32
that big. That was funny, that.
01:06:35
That was hilarious. He was like, I don't think so.
01:06:38
You're not cutting my arm off. He was like, I would rather die
01:06:41
than you cut my arm off. And Ian was like, you are not
01:06:44
about to have my uncle slit my throat because I let his son
01:06:48
die. Absolutely.
01:06:50
The fuck not. You were going to get this arm
01:06:52
cut off and you were going to live to fight another day,
01:06:57
right? This is not it for you, Sir.
01:06:59
Right. And I don't know if it was just
01:07:01
that he was weak or if it was just the.
01:07:03
It it could have been just the intensity of Ian.
01:07:06
But at some point William is like, OK, do what you got to do.
01:07:12
And just as Denzel is about to cut the arm off, he like, he
01:07:17
touches it and all of this pus starts oozing.
01:07:20
He was like, oh, OK, so we don't have to cut his arm off now
01:07:23
because it's draining. We can get all this out and we
01:07:25
can treat it. And again, I'm looking at this
01:07:28
pus and I was like, that is nasty.
01:07:32
That is nasty. But I watch The Walking Dead
01:07:34
every week. But that is still nasty.
01:07:36
Yeah, it's different. Look, it's different.
01:07:42
It is so different. Right.
01:07:45
So while William is recovering, that's when Ian takes his lead.
01:07:50
He he, you know, he takes the horse he leaves some money for
01:07:54
for William. For them to care for William.
01:07:57
And you can kind of see this, like you said, this little
01:07:59
flirtation between him and Rachel.
01:08:02
And then later on in the episode, you do see a flirtation
01:08:06
with her and William. But I think depending on how
01:08:10
much time has elapsed, that could explain that because one
01:08:14
Ian has left, she doesn't think she's going to see Ian again.
01:08:17
So yeah, he was cute to flirt with, but I may never run across
01:08:20
his path again. And as far as we can tell, it's
01:08:23
just it's just her and her brother.
01:08:27
They're in the house, they're Quakers and she probably doesn't
01:08:33
have many interactions with men. So of course you see a good
01:08:37
looking man come, or rather you see two of them come in at the
01:08:42
same day. You feel like who won the
01:08:45
lottery, then why leaves and then here's the other one.
01:08:51
And once he's all cleaned up and not oozing of stinking plus you
01:08:57
look good. It's charming.
01:08:59
He's charismatic. If this is what I have to work
01:09:05
with, I can flirt with this too. So I don't know if it's going to
01:09:09
be a love triangle. I don't know what's going to
01:09:11
happen. Like I said, I don't know
01:09:12
anything about the hunters from the books, but I just kind of
01:09:16
felt like, especially because you in particular have been
01:09:20
saying that you need Ian to have his happily ever after.
01:09:24
That this is probably going to be the start of that, but then
01:09:28
that also makes me worry because of what Arch Bug said to him.
01:09:35
I'll come for you when you have something to look, when you have
01:09:38
something precious to lose. And I was like because, right.
01:09:44
And that was just like when that just last episode for us and
01:09:49
then now this episode, you introduced a woman that was
01:09:53
like, how sweet gonna be. Could be his wife.
01:09:57
And even though we just met them, I like the Hunters
01:10:00
already. I do too.
01:10:02
I do. I like them.
01:10:04
I do too. So now I'm like, Oh no.
01:10:09
It's strange for me hearing a white man with the name Denzel,
01:10:12
though, because the only one I know is Denzel Washington and.
01:10:18
I keep thinking about the interview.
01:10:20
He did an interview on the Graham Norton Show, I think it
01:10:23
was. And he said what is real?
01:10:25
How to really say his? Name.
01:10:27
How you really say his name and it's Denzel and I was just like.
01:10:30
Oh, that's that's interesting. But OK, whatever.
01:10:34
But I'm just and I read. I feel like it was a woman who
01:10:39
said Denzel. Because they just like saying
01:10:44
the saying his name out and so just saying Denzel.
01:10:48
He said his mother, or rather he's he made it Denzel because
01:10:54
his father is also Denzel. So whenever his mom would call
01:10:58
for Denzel, both of them would respond He, you know, he kind of
01:11:03
sort of changed the pronunciation so that they could
01:11:08
differentiate because it's just so interesting, you know?
01:11:12
Denzel and Denzel. Denzel.
01:11:21
Right. You out on the point?
01:11:23
Denzel. Mmhmm.
01:11:26
Mmhmm. Yeah, Mmhmm.
01:11:28
OK. I just say probably when his
01:11:30
girlfriend said that name long Denzel, he said, oh, I like
01:11:35
that. OK, I'll have my mom call me.
01:11:36
That is a little different from the day stop.
01:11:42
So yeah, it was it was interesting.
01:11:45
But I do like the hunters though.
01:11:47
I do I. Do they seem like they are the
01:11:50
type of people who, and I don't know much about Quaker religion,
01:11:55
so I don't know what their beliefs are and you know how
01:11:57
they do things. But these two characters, they
01:12:00
seem like they are very steadfast and who they are and
01:12:05
very uncompromising who they are.
01:12:08
But also, it's nice to come across some strangers who don't
01:12:12
automatically try to kill you or think that you're doing, you
01:12:15
know, just they just seem genuinely nice and like, even
01:12:21
though they didn't know what was going on, I mean, think about
01:12:24
it. You have someone who looks like
01:12:26
a Mohawk Indian and you have a red coat coming to your house.
01:12:30
You don't know what the situation is.
01:12:32
You already, I'm sure you already know that there's talk
01:12:35
of war. So.
01:12:38
You don't know what's going on. He could have been, you know,
01:12:42
shot whatever, could be bringing trouble to your door.
01:12:46
But they still opened up their home to help him.
01:12:49
And then when Ian left him, it, it wasn't like, oh, you have to
01:12:52
take him with you. No, we'll take care of him until
01:12:55
this time for him to, you know, to leave or whatever.
01:12:58
So yeah, I like them. I'm very interested to see how
01:13:04
this thing with with Rachel is going to go.
01:13:09
I I got to say William for now because again Ian has left.
01:13:13
But that would be interesting to see how that happens, because
01:13:18
she, it almost reminds me of, it kind of reminds me a little bit
01:13:24
of Lizzy with the twins, like the the way that they were kind
01:13:29
of sneaking those looks at each other and like.
01:13:33
So which twin is she going to end up with, not knowing that
01:13:36
she's going to end up with both of them?
01:13:39
But yeah, so it's it's it's going to be interesting to see
01:13:44
what the hunters and in particular Rachel, bring to the
01:13:49
show. Like I said, I really, I really
01:13:52
do want this to be like Ian's happily ever after because he
01:13:55
deserves it. But yeah, that's going to be
01:13:59
interesting. But it's also nice to have
01:14:01
another Doctor on the show, so one who seems like he knows what
01:14:08
he's doing, right? So And then the and the great.
01:14:13
And she's a great assistant too, so someone else to learn.
01:14:19
I want to know. I want to know the so I'm
01:14:22
thinking, well, we're going to have to see the hunters again
01:14:27
because it's just kind of hard for you just to throw them in
01:14:29
here. And then they're gone once
01:14:31
William goes about his way to deliver his papers.
01:14:34
Yeah, no, I think they're going to be around for a minute.
01:14:38
OK. Yeah, at least for a few
01:14:40
episodes. If anything, like I said, if you
01:14:44
don't know they're in the books or not, I.
01:14:47
Think they are. That's what I was saying.
01:14:49
I haven't read it, but I think. They are, and I think she does
01:14:54
have a relationship with Ian. I don't know if it's the happily
01:14:57
ever after type, but I I do think I will take anything right
01:15:02
now for him. I'm desperate for love.
01:15:07
For Ian, I don't. I don't care.
01:15:10
We had to do the The Bachelor and this is just one of them.
01:15:14
I and we get another. I don't care.
01:15:18
He deserves some love and some peace he does.
01:15:23
And to live on the farm, I don't care.
01:15:28
I mean, they have. I'm telling you right now.
01:15:30
I am telling you they. Do they got the water right in
01:15:34
front of them? But I'll tell you right now so
01:15:37
I'm happy to Ian, I I swear you I will no longer be on this
01:15:40
podcast. I will burn every book.
01:15:45
Some bad not happen to him. I can't say whether or not
01:15:53
something does or doesn't because I because I understand
01:15:57
Jamie and Claire have lived a full life and they found love
01:16:03
and whatever ending we get, we going to get and I'm going to be
01:16:05
OK with that. But Ian has been through some
01:16:10
shit. You saying it with your chest?
01:16:14
So I need him to be OK at the end.
01:16:18
I live an old man with a lot of kids.
01:16:21
I just need that. That's all I need.
01:16:25
That's what I need for him. Oh, that's what I'm sitting here
01:16:29
looking right now. So that's how Ian got him to
01:16:34
agree to be a amputation. He was like.
01:16:37
He was like, no, we still need a proper you can't die.
01:16:40
We still need a proper death song for you.
01:16:41
You ain't dead shit yet. Oh yeah.
01:16:45
But also because when he told them he they couldn't amputate,
01:16:48
Rachel was like, then get thyself off thy table.
01:16:52
She was like, oh, and we can't save your life.
01:16:55
You can get the hell on because we're not going to have you just
01:16:57
sit here and die. Ooh, that puss.
01:17:00
It's just so gross. It's so gross, but that was
01:17:06
funny. Like, OK, if we're not going to
01:17:08
attempt this, then you can just move around, move about your
01:17:11
business, get on your horse and leave and we clean up for the
01:17:14
next person. Right, get off my table.
01:17:16
Stop putting your germs on my table.
01:17:19
We got to eat later on. Oh goodness.
01:17:25
But yeah, so the look. The little flirty miss after Ian
01:17:30
leaves. She's sitting there shaving
01:17:36
William and yeah, they're having the conversation.
01:17:39
I was sitting there looking, I was like, yeah, this looks like
01:17:44
it's going to be a thing too, right?
01:17:48
That's always like, I'm confused.
01:17:50
I'm very confused. Like, again, I I can understand.
01:17:55
William is a nice looking man and you think that you're not
01:17:59
going to see him. That's true.
01:18:01
But you had a what? You think a bad boy show up with
01:18:06
a wolf and then you have the good boy in the uniform who has
01:18:15
a uniform. You ain't seen the uniform yet,
01:18:17
but once you cleaned them up, you realize he got some money.
01:18:21
Oh yeah, no, because at this point they don't know that
01:18:23
William is a soldier. No, but she know he has some
01:18:27
money that he comes from something.
01:18:31
I think she said she kind of said it like she said something
01:18:37
that indicate like, oh, OK, you you know, you're about business.
01:18:41
You're you're something or what not.
01:18:44
And then you got Ian the bad boy with the with the wolf not the
01:18:50
dog. But hey.
01:18:52
Right now, here's the He's my favorite type of dog he is.
01:18:56
He's so gorgeous. Here's the other very
01:18:59
interesting thing about that shaving scene.
01:19:03
So while she's putting the the lather on his face, she tells
01:19:09
William it is a shame that you can't keep your beard.
01:19:12
It is of a very striking color and I'm sitting here looking at
01:19:17
his stubble. It's coming in very Auburn red.
01:19:28
So yeah, y'all are about to start putting things into
01:19:32
motion, because, you know, I told you at some point William
01:19:36
does find out that Jamie is his father.
01:19:37
I don't know where in the books or how far off we are, but I
01:19:42
feel like you're giving us all of these things now because
01:19:45
you're preparing us for that. So yeah, well, how many episodes
01:19:53
do we have this season? 17.
01:19:58
We have 17. So we have 10 more to go from
01:20:06
because, I mean, seven just showed.
01:20:08
So we have 10 more. OK, so then he's going to find
01:20:11
out this season you think it's. Seven OK yeah.
01:20:17
Oh. Wow.
01:20:18
Yeah, I mean, we're do wait a minute.
01:20:21
We're doing 4 currently right now.
01:20:25
Episode 4. What is currently out?
01:20:29
No, it's six just came out. Six just came out.
01:20:33
OK, yes. So 11 more, Yes.
01:20:39
William is going to have to find out, yeah.
01:20:44
Especially because the final season is only 7 episodes I
01:20:50
think. That's all we need.
01:20:53
And so in this season, 16 episodes, 16, OK, so 10 more.
01:20:58
So what we going to get is that he going to find out about his
01:21:03
death and we going to find that gold.
01:21:08
We're probably not going to find the gold until the second-half
01:21:10
of the of the season because they're they're splitting the
01:21:13
season. In the episode Parts.
01:21:17
Wait a second, Hold on a second. Hold on.
01:21:19
So we have two more episodes and then we have a hiatus.
01:21:25
For how long? I don't.
01:21:28
It better be like the other shows that we watch for a month.
01:21:33
From what I am seeing on Google right now, it says the
01:21:39
second-half later in 2024, so I don't know when in 2024 we are
01:21:47
getting them. Well, we don't go back to the
01:21:52
shave. What what I was saying was
01:21:55
Rachel has said on your speech is better than your clothes.
01:21:59
And I can tell you from great caliber, that's how you're
01:22:03
presenting yourself, how he presents himself.
01:22:05
Yeah, because he's trying to keep from saying who he is.
01:22:09
Yeah, but you can't hide, but you can't hide up that upbring
01:22:13
that he has. So I was going to say you can't
01:22:15
hide that breathing. Right.
01:22:17
You got throw some slang words in there, Sir.
01:22:19
And he. I know he's not.
01:22:21
No, no. And you don't hang out in the
01:22:25
wilderness, so we clearly know that.
01:22:28
Well, he, you know, that's he's talking to her.
01:22:31
And he does talk about the hunting in the Great Dismal
01:22:36
Swamp because she does ask how he came to be there or how he
01:22:39
knows. And he was like, Oh, yeah, I've
01:22:40
hunted. I've hunted there before.
01:22:42
You know, Doesn't he doesn't tell her, Oh yeah, on a
01:22:45
plantation kind of in these parts or anything like that.
01:22:49
But that's when he starts asking her if he mentions something
01:22:53
about, I think he, he mentions one of the people he's supposed
01:22:57
to be looking for, or she does. And he was like, oh, is it such
01:23:02
and such? Oh, and he's known.
01:23:05
What is it? He is a friend.
01:23:08
He is a friend of someone known to me.
01:23:11
And he finds out that that person is a rebel.
01:23:15
So when she gets off the porch, she's sitting there looking like
01:23:18
why am I delivering something from the commanding officer of
01:23:22
the British Army to 1? Of these vehicles.
01:23:26
So he starts looking like, So I was like, yeah, at some point,
01:23:30
William, you're going to have to make a choice.
01:23:34
I feel like I don't know what those missiles were.
01:23:36
I don't know what they, you know, they they could have been
01:23:39
talks of surrender. They could have been, you know,
01:23:42
whatever probably had something to do with spying because I
01:23:46
think when William was getting the missives, he mentioned
01:23:51
something about spying and or rather the the commanding
01:23:54
officer mentioned something about spying.
01:23:56
And William basically was like, I have no designs to be a spy.
01:23:59
I don't want to do it. And what did that guy say?
01:24:02
He said most, most men who consider themselves soldiers
01:24:06
wouldn't. Oh, you know what he did say?
01:24:09
Most men who consider themselves soldiers wouldn't.
01:24:12
Maybe those people are spies. And that's why, he said.
01:24:17
Because they're not soldiers, they're they're part of the
01:24:20
rebellion. Okay.
01:24:27
But yeah, I I like William. There's some flirting vibes are
01:24:33
going on between them, so, so very much so.
01:24:36
And that's why I was saying I like William.
01:24:38
I like what we've seen of him so far and.
01:24:41
And this if like if Ian doesn't see Miss Hunter again see a her
01:24:50
and William thing. The good thing is you see you
01:24:52
see chemistry with both of them. Yeah, you do.
01:24:55
So it can go either way except. Get better.
01:24:59
Go to Ian. But that's just you know, that's
01:25:01
how I feel. You're biased.
01:25:04
I know, I know. But you know what William.
01:25:07
But I know this from last episode when he met Brianna.
01:25:11
I see the OR two episodes go. I do see some of that reddish
01:25:16
brown the way that colored his hair.
01:25:19
It's. It's there.
01:25:22
It's very it has like an Auburn tent to it.
01:25:25
Yeah. So the thing about it is if he
01:25:28
ever just like stands with Jamie or be around him for a minute,
01:25:33
he's going to figure it out because they going to have
01:25:35
mannerisms. They already did when he was
01:25:38
younger to the point where they were look across the field and
01:25:41
be like, oh shit, OK, what was the grandmother said?
01:25:47
She said we we said that Willie spends so much time with Mac
01:25:53
that he's starting to look like him.
01:25:57
And then Jamie happened to see his his reflection in the
01:26:02
mirror. When Willie was cleaning the
01:26:04
thing, he was like, Oh yeah, it's time for me to.
01:26:08
Go time for me to go. So yeah, but yeah, he yeah, I
01:26:16
have a feeling that Red is going to come out just just a little
01:26:19
bit. And he something about the way,
01:26:23
and again, I don't know if this is because the actor is
01:26:26
purposefully doing it or if it's just the way that he is and
01:26:30
that's why they cast him. But even just the way he makes
01:26:34
some of his facial expressions or the way he holds himself,
01:26:38
it's kind of reminiscent of Jamie, you know?
01:26:44
But yeah, that's going to be interesting.
01:26:47
It will be, but on the other note, Jamie and Claire and the
01:26:54
rebels that he is in command of now, they have arrived at Fort
01:26:58
Ticonderoga, which is where Jamie was instructed to go.
01:27:03
So I'm like, okay. I guess y'all won't be avoiding
01:27:05
this war, or some of the battles at least, because I know that
01:27:11
there's a battle at Fort Ticonderoga or there's supposed
01:27:14
to be something that happens there.
01:27:18
But yeah, the American Revolution is on its way and
01:27:25
it's going to be so interesting because you have all these
01:27:27
parts. Like Jamie, Claire and Ian were
01:27:31
planning to go to Scotland so that Jamie wouldn't have to
01:27:34
fight against his son because he refuses to fight for the
01:27:36
British. And now he literally has been
01:27:39
put into a position where if they go to war, he might be on
01:27:44
the battlefield. What's my son?
01:27:46
I need them just to skip town. Just get on the damn boat.
01:27:51
OK? But see, the problem is, Jamie
01:27:55
is still the, I guess you say the Laird.
01:28:00
The land. Yeah, He is never a Fraser's
01:28:02
Ridge and so he has to. That's going to put everybody
01:28:07
else in in danger at Fraser's Ridge.
01:28:10
And he he has to think about the other people.
01:28:13
You've got Lizzy there with her babies because she probably has
01:28:16
had her second child by now. You've got the twins, you've got
01:28:20
all these other people who Jamie took in, all the Fisher folk
01:28:25
that are there, so. I know.
01:28:28
I just want them to skip town and say they were kidnapped.
01:28:30
You got to figure that Jamie is tired of being a wanted man at
01:28:35
this. Right, he is.
01:28:36
And it's it's almost the point where I could be like, I'm too
01:28:39
old to fight in the war. Well, I.
01:28:46
Can't say that either because he's not looking.
01:28:49
He's, he's not looking conscious, so he's not looking
01:28:52
up at all. So.
01:28:54
Right. And when you can be, when you
01:28:56
can be captured by by some men, by Richard Brown's men and you
01:29:00
sit there and fight them all, yeah.
01:29:04
So you're not too old to fight? No, you're not at all.
01:29:08
I just, it's one of those things where it's like you should have
01:29:12
went to a different town, you should have went a different
01:29:15
way. But I I guess it was going to
01:29:17
happen. Don't just walk around, rock
01:29:19
around at night. So now I see you right with all
01:29:22
that red hair. Camp.
01:29:24
Camp on the outskirts of town, yeah, But you know, it's kind of
01:29:29
like what we were saying with the whole Roger and Brianna
01:29:31
thing. If it's if it's meant to happen,
01:29:34
if he was supposed to be in that battle, there's nothing that
01:29:36
they would be able to do. To kill him from like they
01:29:40
tried. They tried to go to Scotland
01:29:42
like, OK, look, we're not, we're not about to be a part of this
01:29:45
and you? Seem to help to intervene.
01:29:47
So I feel like he's probably supposed to be a part of this.
01:29:53
I hope that doesn't mean that he's going to have to, you know,
01:29:56
fight against William or be, you know, I'm hoping that once he
01:30:00
does this, whatever he's supposed to do at Fort
01:30:02
Ticonderoga, I don't think it's a permanent post because oh dude
01:30:08
was kind of like okay Well, you just need to do this one thing
01:30:11
for me and then you can be you can be on your way.
01:30:14
You just be delayed. So I'm hoping they keep to that
01:30:17
and Jamie can take his ass to Scotland because one, I really
01:30:21
do want to go back to Scotland and see how everybody is doing
01:30:23
and I know that we are going to Scotland.
01:30:26
Because of the season seven casting news before they started
01:30:30
shooting the season. Yeah, Which is going to be the
01:30:32
second-half, though, that's coming out 2024.
01:30:39
That'll give us some time. Look, that'll give us some time
01:30:41
to read. Oh yeah, that is true.
01:30:44
That is true. But then we're not trying to
01:30:46
catch up, are we? We're not supposed to surpass
01:30:49
what is being on the show. Yeah, no, we're we're going to
01:30:53
do our best to be disciplined. We just want to get up to this
01:30:55
point. We can get up to this point and
01:30:58
just kind of once we have that little background, we can kind
01:31:01
of talk amongst ourselves. And then we stop.
01:31:04
So this is what we think is going to happen based on what's
01:31:08
happening in the book so far, we can do that.
01:31:11
So that gives us some. Gives us some time.
01:31:14
I'm a little sad now that I was thinking, ooh, we got 10 more
01:31:17
episodes. Girl I I wish they.
01:31:21
But even on network TV or cable TV, even when those shows were
01:31:27
doing 2223 episode shows, they always took a split in the
01:31:33
middle of the the season. So.
01:31:35
Yeah, for the holidays. It might be a holiday over
01:31:41
there, no? So yeah, I understand.
01:31:48
Yeah, I but I will say this too, as much as I would like to be
01:31:53
able to watch the episodes without a break, I'm kind of
01:31:58
glad that we do have a break because that extends how long we
01:32:02
have with the show. Because once those eight
01:32:06
episodes air and then the final season episodes, which is I
01:32:10
think only six or seven, that's it.
01:32:14
So I I don't mind the hiatus a little bit because it it extends
01:32:19
how much longer we want to enjoy with.
01:32:21
You it won't be a big gap before we get Season 8.
01:32:25
Hopefully, yes, it won't be a it won't be a 400.
01:32:29
And how many days was this time? 455 days or 6?
01:32:33
150 it It won't be that, so that'll be a good thing.
01:32:37
I was Speaking of which so news that came out this week that I
01:32:43
happen to see. Apparently the prequel series
01:32:48
about Jamie's parents has been greenlit, so we will be getting
01:32:53
a An Outlander spinoff series based on Brian and Ellen Fraser.
01:33:00
So now, I still wish then we could get more Outlander,
01:33:06
because again, she's still writing the 10th book.
01:33:11
The 10th book is supposed to be the end of Jamie and Claire's
01:33:15
story. So I don't know how they're
01:33:18
going to do the final season for Outlander, if they're going to
01:33:21
get notes from her as far as what happens, or if they're just
01:33:25
going to write their own. And I I don't know how that's
01:33:27
going to go, but at least we know we're getting more
01:33:31
Outlander, at least for, you know, Brian and Ellen.
01:33:39
But yeah, I I'm okay with with the hiatus.
01:33:43
So that means this is what Episode 4 we're talking about.
01:33:45
So we have four more episodes to discuss before the hiatus.
01:33:52
We do have Dragon Con coming up. I am going to be on the
01:33:58
Outlander show panel at Dragon Con this year again.
01:34:02
Yay. So I we'll get to talk about
01:34:05
that. They're not talking about the
01:34:07
books on this panel. It's just going to be strictly
01:34:09
show, Which is cool because that means I don't have to sit here
01:34:12
and try to rush to read up until this point.
01:34:15
But like I like, like you said, we're not going to go past where
01:34:18
they are in the show because we don't want to spoil ourselves,
01:34:22
even though I've heard like little bits and pieces of
01:34:25
spoilers here and there. Oh, the other other The other
01:34:29
thing I did see on Twitter is that Meryl Davis confirmed that
01:34:39
we will not be seeing Ferguson Marsley this season.
01:34:43
Whatever. I am so hurt.
01:34:48
I mean, I understand cuz they're not anywhere where they will be
01:34:52
a part of the story, but they need to come back and be a part
01:34:55
of the story. I miss them.
01:34:58
I miss them. So anyway, I think that's all
01:35:04
the news I have on that for now, because again, they're filming.
01:35:12
Well, actually they are not filming right now.
01:35:15
I believe Outlander has halted their filming in solidarity with
01:35:20
the SAG actors here in the States.
01:35:23
So they're not filming right now.
01:35:25
So they're kind of like somewhere midway between film
01:35:29
and Season 8. So I guess that might extend
01:35:35
when we get Season 8 as well, depending on how long the
01:35:38
strike. Is, yeah.
01:35:41
But so we'll just once this hiatus starts we'll have to get
01:35:46
our our fix somehow. You know they do have another
01:35:51
season of men and kilts out so. Yeah, I thought that was coming
01:35:56
out. Yeah, but did we forget anything
01:36:02
on the episode? No, we hit all the parts.
01:36:05
You got Tom, that dog on Tom. Christy, I tell you, I rewound.
01:36:10
That that was just so cute though.
01:36:12
I mean, it was cuz he the Glee, right?
01:36:16
He was so happy. He was just so happy.
01:36:20
He was like, I thought, you know, I wrote the obituary cuz I
01:36:24
I I didn't have a grave to go to.
01:36:45
That's what I'm saying, that actually, considering his
01:36:48
romantic past probably was like, you know what?
01:36:26
I wouldn't be able to go to your grave.
01:36:28
And I was just like, oh, they're so sweet.
01:36:32
But it's so sad in a way too, because you're in love with a
01:36:35
woman who can never be with you or who will never be with you.
01:36:39
But and you know what? That might have been enough to
01:36:44
sustain. I'm good.
01:36:52
I'm good. She's she's safe.
01:36:56
She's happy. And if anything, he knows that
01:36:59
Jamie will protect Claire with with his life so he doesn't have
01:37:03
to worry about, oh, is she endangered?
01:37:05
This, that and other. He knows Jamie will protect her.
01:37:07
So that's probably the most peaceful thing you can have.
01:37:11
At least you know she's not she's not under the ground and
01:37:14
you can walk around knowing, OK, she's alive, she's breathing.
01:37:18
I'm good. So I I hope he can find some
01:37:22
peace, and I hope he doesn't. Fall on the horse and he can be
01:37:30
happy. He can be happy.
01:37:32
Now I know there's there's probably going to be a piece of
01:37:35
him that struggles because he doesn't know where Alan is and
01:37:41
he at this point he probably will never find out where Alan
01:37:44
is. So that's going to be something,
01:37:46
I think, that'll kind of sit on his conscience or sit on his
01:37:50
heart. But I think for the most part, I
01:37:51
think Tom Christy is okay. He he did right by Jamie and
01:37:59
Claire the way he said he would, as far as, you know, making sure
01:38:03
that they were safe. He did his best to do that.
01:38:06
And then when Claire was about to go down or be killed for that
01:38:10
crime, he was like, I can't do this because I know it would.
01:38:12
I know it wasn't you. So, yeah, Okay.
01:38:17
Hi, Tom. Christy, that door is closed.
01:38:22
So now we have the hunters. We have William becoming a a
01:38:27
bigger part of the story, and I know that that will probably
01:38:30
increase with all of the stuff coming up for the American
01:38:34
Revolution. We have Jamie, Claire, Ian stuck
01:38:37
here for the time being for the war.
01:38:43
And we've got we've got Roger and Brianna in the future trying
01:38:50
to figure out what the fuck a knuckle V is and what is it
01:38:54
doing in their house and why is it eating all the crisps?
01:38:57
And you've got Jimmy and Mandy, Jimmy and Mandy boy, let me tell
01:39:02
you, those two kids, if they not, it's like one minute
01:39:05
they're fighting and the next minute he's being protective of
01:39:08
her. Yeah, these kids are going to
01:39:13
drive them crazy because even in the beginning, when she was
01:39:16
like, Mandy hit me, she won't say sorry, Mandy, apologize.
01:39:22
I won't. Roger was like I.
01:39:25
You will. So I.
01:39:27
Was like, oh, these kids will drive me nuts two years, right?
01:39:31
And then then you going to lock them up.
01:39:33
Do you block Mandy up in the closet in the dungeon room?
01:39:36
Call it a little dungeon room. And then she sitting there like
01:39:38
do it again. What you just?
01:39:43
And then one day we're going to find out about the gold too.
01:39:45
So you know you are going to keep on about that gold.
01:39:50
What? I just want them to ask him.
01:39:52
I mean, damn, just ask your kid instead of just.
01:39:55
I wonder if we should ask him now.
01:39:57
Like now? It's been a few years.
01:39:59
Sure, when you're at dinner, you're talking about nothing.
01:40:03
What? You just ask him instead of just
01:40:05
wondering. Y'all just went through all of
01:40:08
your savings and everything. You need some money, Brock.
01:40:11
You're going to need some money. I mean, I realize that.
01:40:14
I realize that Brianna has a job now, but I can almost guarantee
01:40:17
you they are underpaying her for that job.
01:40:22
And then Roger is not doing anything right now, so they
01:40:25
probably could. I'm with you at this point.
01:40:30
Ask him about the gold. Ask him about the gold.
01:40:36
Because then you got to make a trip to North Carolina.
01:40:41
You got to go see where phrases. But you know, I don't know if
01:40:48
I'm ready to go to a future Frasers Ridge or a 1980s Frasers
01:40:55
Ridge because we don't know what that looks like.
01:40:59
And I just. I just don't know because I feel
01:41:01
like and I guess that's kind of why Brianna is doing that as
01:41:05
well, because if she if they have to go there, then you'll
01:41:10
have to see the place that you were just in a few years ago and
01:41:13
how different it is and things may be gone.
01:41:16
And you know of course the the houses and the settlements are
01:41:19
probably no longer there. So that might, yeah that might
01:41:23
be a bit too much for her. So I can kind of understand her
01:41:26
hesitance when opening that that Pandora's box.
01:41:32
So, OK, I'll give her a little leeway on that.
01:41:34
We'll just wait. Maybe, Michelle, you know back
01:41:38
half of the season they'll ask you about the gold and we'll.
01:41:41
I just want them to ask. It's OK we don't even go.
01:41:45
No, cuz if you ask and you find out about this gold, you know
01:41:48
they're going to want to go. I would want to go.
01:41:51
I would too. I'll be like, oh, we take the
01:41:54
little. We going to take a little trip,
01:41:56
right? Family vacation.
01:41:59
To the States. And then also too, if you think
01:42:02
about it, if they make that kind of trip going to the States,
01:42:08
they're not going to leave the kids with Fiona.
01:42:10
They're going to take the kids with them.
01:42:13
And that might be hard for Jim as well, because he'll he'll
01:42:20
also have remembered, you know, he'll remember what Frasers
01:42:24
Ridge was and then for him to see it the way it might be now,
01:42:28
that will probably disturb him as well, so.
01:42:33
Yeah, So we'll just tell them to wait.
01:42:37
Just just wait on asking about the go.
01:42:39
It'll be okay, Michelle. It'll be okay.
01:42:43
It'll be okay. We'll get.
01:42:45
There by the By the end of this season or season eight, please
01:42:50
just have a conversation. I think they would have to do it
01:42:54
this season because I feel like whatever they're doing Season 8.
01:42:58
It's some totally it's got to close it.
01:43:00
It's going to be closing it out. Yeah, it has to close it.
01:43:03
Yeah. Whatever it is that's going on
01:43:05
with Jamie and Claire to end their story, I feel like that's
01:43:10
what the final episodes will focus on, so.
01:43:14
Yeah, yeah. And I agree to that.
01:43:18
Like we we're doing all the stories now and then Eight just
01:43:20
literally is closing. Yeah, yeah, so that'll be cool.
01:43:28
That'll be cool. So we just we just have to be a
01:43:29
little patience. We may have to wait until 2024
01:43:34
to find out about the gold and the Spaniard, those of Y'all
01:43:40
listed. You can see the look on
01:43:41
Michelle's face. I don't know if I can, but okay,
01:43:45
maybe it'll be spring 2024. I mean, because the the episodes
01:43:49
are already done. I don't see them making us wait.
01:43:52
Another When did this season come out?
01:43:56
June. So maybe next June.
01:44:01
Maybe next June. No, don't wait that long.
01:44:03
I don't agree to it either. But I'm just saying we only
01:44:06
have. So right now, right now, we
01:44:10
have, what did I say, 6 episodes out, Five episodes, 6 episodes
01:44:15
out. So that means we have two more
01:44:16
episodes. So that means by the end of
01:44:18
July, those episodes will be done.
01:44:22
So you got August, September, October, November, December.
01:44:26
I would hope that January or February we would get those new
01:44:29
episodes. Y'all don't need to make make us
01:44:32
wait longer than six months for a season that is already done
01:44:37
already. So let's keep our fingers
01:44:42
crossed. It's going to be January or
01:44:43
February. It could be, it could be earlier
01:44:45
if they want, but I know they're not going to do it during the
01:44:48
holidays because during the holidays you always have special
01:44:52
programming and this than others so your your your viewing
01:45:00
schedules are disrupted. So I would say probably.
01:45:04
January okay, I go with that. Okay.
01:45:10
So you have any final thoughts on episode 6?
01:45:16
Just give us the go and OK and and tell us what's going on with
01:45:22
Rachel Hunter and the bachelors on the Ridge, the bachelors of
01:45:29
the river. And it's The Bachelors.
01:45:31
Yes. I don't think it's Williams time
01:45:34
right now. That's not what William have to
01:45:36
go through right now. He may fall in love with Rachel
01:45:38
for a second, but it Rachel belongs to Ian.
01:45:42
OK, so it's not his time to shop.
01:45:43
It's not his time. His time is to figure out, you
01:45:45
know, find out about this day. OK, So you know, he has to go
01:45:50
through that. Yeah, I have feeling that's
01:45:52
going to be explosive. So with that being said, that's
01:45:55
it for our show. You can find us online at
