00:00:24
What's up, hybrids? Welcome back to another episode
00:00:27
of the Phantom Hybrid Podcast. This is Hanukkah and I'm here
00:00:30
with Anthony and Dina, and we are discussing episode 2 of A
00:00:35
Night of the Seven Kingdoms. Listen from the top of the
00:00:43
episode, I forgot how I forgot about the gratuitous nudity that
00:00:53
comes with Game of Thrones shows.
00:00:55
Like you think that after the first episode I was prepared for
00:00:59
some in my face stuff, but I was not quite prepared for how in my
00:01:03
face it got in the top of the second episode.
00:01:07
Hey, great. Game of Thrones has always been
00:01:10
good about equal opportunity. That's true.
00:01:13
That's I will say that about them.
00:01:14
They don't care. That is true.
00:01:16
But I mean, my goodness, give us some warning next time.
00:01:21
Like your warning was his booty, his booty peeking out the door
00:01:25
before he turned around. OK, but here's the thing.
00:01:29
Seeing his ass was not a bit. I was like, OK, so they I'm
00:01:32
literally sitting here thinking like, OK, so they're going to
00:01:35
show us a little male frontal nudity.
00:01:38
OK, whatever. When he turned around, I had I
00:01:41
was like, wait, I was I was not ready.
00:01:47
I think that's the best way to I was not ready.
00:01:49
I I wasn't, it was just I I started singing in my head like,
00:01:55
does your thing hang low? Doesn't want to.
00:01:59
Oh. God, yes, we're going to behave
00:02:03
like little 12 year olds, right? Yeah, for sure.
00:02:06
I just, yeah, I, I was not expecting that.
00:02:10
And then it's like, you see this while Dunk is having his, I
00:02:14
guess at this point Dunk is talking to the different Lords
00:02:17
of the different houses, trying to get someone to remember him
00:02:20
so they will vouch for him and list that had to have been like
00:02:23
right before he passed because you see him looking at the
00:02:27
injury that he has on his arm, which I was like, he probably
00:02:32
died from the injury and not just from whatever coffee
00:02:35
developed from the rain. He probably had some kind of
00:02:38
blood poisoning or something because that wound was just
00:02:42
opened and I was like, why are they not fixing that?
00:02:46
Why are they not treating that? Or I don't know, something about
00:02:50
that whole wound was just it was it, but.
00:02:54
Yeah, he probably couldn't, couldn't.
00:02:55
He probably couldn't afford the treatment for it.
00:02:59
That's true, which is also kind of sad because when you're
00:03:03
hearing all of the stuff that that Dunk is saying about Sir
00:03:09
Arlen, especially at the top of this episode, it's kind of like
00:03:13
this man was honorable. He was selfless.
00:03:17
He was, you know, all the things that that Dunk said about him.
00:03:23
He look, I actually took notes this time.
00:03:26
He said he's a true knight, but he was different from other men.
00:03:28
He had peaceful, he had a peaceful nature.
00:03:30
He was quiet, he was humble. He was a veteran of 100 wars,
00:03:34
enemy to none always knew what was expected of him.
00:03:38
He never complained. He was always a benefit of
00:03:41
people around him. And I was like, you would think
00:03:44
somebody who is of that caliber would be remembered more.
00:03:49
And then I thought about what you said.
00:03:51
I think you said this in the last episode, Anthony.
00:03:53
And then it's kind of sort of related to what Dunk says
00:03:56
towards the end of this episode. He was like, he was this night
00:04:00
that nobody remembers. And it's like, you know, this is
00:04:03
a man who taught me to be honorable, but all of these
00:04:05
so-called noble people didn't even bother to remember who he
00:04:10
was. And I think that's so sad.
00:04:13
I mean, at the end of the day, he was a hedge.
00:04:15
Like, I mean, they, they're not going to commit him to memory.
00:04:19
I'm sorry I started the episode. I know, no, I was Chris in the
00:04:25
background, but I mean, and and I I get that, but I guess at the
00:04:30
same time it's kind of like even the one who who was it?
00:04:37
Bulbarian because Dundarian, because Dundarian was like, we
00:04:43
hired 800 hedge Knights for that.
00:04:46
So I'm not going to realize that he's a.
00:04:49
House Tyrell, when he went to go talk to him, he said you were
00:04:52
the one who told him that the hedge Knights were the bridge
00:04:57
between the Lords and the small folk.
00:05:01
Something that specific, unless it's something you're saying to
00:05:04
everybody you're coming across, that should at least trigger a
00:05:07
memory. And I feel like what Egg said to
00:05:09
him later, he said it's almost like they're not really
00:05:12
listening to you. It's like they look at Dunk.
00:05:14
They, they basically they're making a judgement based on his
00:05:18
appearance. They're making a judgement based
00:05:20
on the way he speaks. And they're just like, OK, I'm
00:05:23
not even going to bother with him.
00:05:24
And that's probably how they treated Sir Arlen.
00:05:27
It's probably how they treat hedge Knights.
00:05:29
They don't. They're not Lords.
00:05:32
It's not they they're not not sworn to anybody.
00:05:36
So what's the point of trying to remember who they are?
00:05:39
You don't get anything out of it other than a sword if you hire
00:05:42
them. Yeah.
00:05:43
So you can reading things that there.
00:05:46
Were like higher level people who they didn't even remember
00:05:50
that were fighting that same things.
00:05:52
So they don't care? Yeah.
00:05:55
Right. Like if you were, if you were a
00:05:57
Targaryen but you're like 15th in line, everyone would know who
00:06:02
you are because you're a Targaryen.
00:06:05
But if you're entire real and you're 15th in line, nobody
00:06:08
cares. Nobody cares.
00:06:10
Yeah. Yeah.
00:06:12
But I just, you know, I also wonder if that's the reason why
00:06:18
Arlen treated Dunk the way he did.
00:06:20
Because Dunk continuously says that Arlen treated him like a
00:06:24
member of his family, that he was good to him, that he taught
00:06:27
him to be an honorable man. But of course, all of the
00:06:29
recollections we see of him, it looks a little more harsh.
00:06:35
And I wonder if, you know, and I think Dunk also says towards the
00:06:39
end, he was like, you know, he was a hard man to get to know.
00:06:42
I wonder if maybe he treated Dunk like that just because he
00:06:46
wanted Dunk to understand what to expect as far as how other
00:06:52
people were going to treat him. You know what I'm saying?
00:06:55
Unfortunately, in this world, if you treat somebody with
00:06:57
kindness, if you treat them with respect, obviously it doesn't
00:07:01
really get you anywhere. Because like you said, Sir Arlen
00:07:03
was almost 60 years old. He had been ahead tonight for so
00:07:08
long, served all of these different houses, was noble, was
00:07:12
honorable. And nobody remembers him, you
00:07:15
know, except for the the one person who did.
00:07:19
And we'll talk about, we'll talk about the Targaryens later, but.
00:07:24
The, the, the thing I think about sometimes is especially
00:07:27
with this story is like in the book, he I think banking was
00:07:33
maybe 6 or 7 when Sir Arlen found him.
00:07:39
They meant that Arlen Sir. Arlen was almost 50 and had
00:07:45
never had a squad before and he probably saw opportunity to
00:07:49
start and also have someone to help take care of him because.
00:07:52
No, he had a Squire. His nephew was his squad.
00:07:56
Yeah, but he was killed. Got killed.
00:07:58
Yeah, got killed. But he was, he's probably really
00:08:03
looking for someone to help because he knew he was going to.
00:08:06
He was getting old. He was going to need help, so he
00:08:09
couldn't. We're better than to start with
00:08:11
this. He he was probably already big
00:08:14
for his age. Yeah, he probably didn't.
00:08:16
Yeah, he. Yeah.
00:08:18
He probably didn't really know how old he was.
00:08:20
He. Had a 14 year old 'cause he was
00:08:25
18. Tolerant.
00:08:30
Yeah, yeah. 'Cause you're in the book.
00:08:32
He's 611 now and he's supposed to be 1617. 16 I think he is in
00:08:38
the book. He's 611.
00:08:40
That's crazy. Now just for him being tall he
00:08:46
just it seems like he would just pick on him.
00:08:49
They just he automatically just pick on him and say things to
00:08:51
him like he won't kill. Like this big old man he looked
00:08:55
real big strapping and strong and y'all just talking smack me
00:08:57
like he won't step on your face. Right that's the thing I was
00:09:02
thinking of too. Like y'all keep talking so
00:09:04
disrespectful to this guy, like, and I don't, I don't know if
00:09:10
it's just that they're looking at the way he looks in the face
00:09:13
because if you look at him in the face, if you look at kind of
00:09:18
I will even go so far as to say the way that he stands, the way
00:09:21
he postures himself, He doesn't look threatening.
00:09:25
You know what I'm saying? So maybe that's the vibe that
00:09:27
they're getting off of. He he he doesn't give off a
00:09:30
threatening vibe. Yeah, I think that's what Lionel
00:09:33
Bratting was kind of alluding to.
00:09:35
Like you need to carry yourself. Yeah.
00:09:37
Like. Tall, but not only that use your
00:09:41
presence, you know and and I think even egg in this in this
00:09:47
episode he's talking to him he was like why do you let these
00:09:50
these Lords treat you like they're your betters and he was
00:09:54
like they are my betters and then he's like I mean he's like
00:09:56
that. No, you.
00:09:59
It's like the mouth. You need to start acting like a
00:10:01
knight. The mountain The mountain was
00:10:04
nearly 8 feet tall in the book. No one looked at him or treated
00:10:08
him like he was stupid. Right, right.
00:10:10
The hound was like 6768, no one treated him like that also.
00:10:15
His face was messed up but. Well, yeah, I was going to say
00:10:18
he the the face kind of, you know, helped with the hound,
00:10:21
but. But they carried themselves like
00:10:24
they were dangerous. Ran of Tarth.
00:10:26
She carried herself like she was dangerous.
00:10:28
She's. A knight.
00:10:31
Baby, Yeah, no one, no one really.
00:10:33
I mean, they, they had their reservations about her, but they
00:10:37
never say anything really to her face.
00:10:39
And then, well, damn, you're big, you know?
00:10:40
Yeah, that's a. Huge.
00:10:48
That is true. Two things I wanted to know
00:10:52
about this episode before we get into like the the meat and
00:10:57
potatoes of it. I'm noticing and I noticed this
00:11:01
with House of the Dragon Light. The first episode we didn't get
00:11:04
an intro, but we got it in the second episode.
00:11:07
This one we still don't have an intro.
00:11:10
No. And I'm like, OK, I know they're
00:11:13
doing things a little different, but this is, it's weird to me
00:11:17
that we don't have, we don't have an intro, we don't have a
00:11:20
like the theme song. It's just, I guess it's another
00:11:24
way that it's kind of saying it's Game of Thrones, but it's
00:11:26
not Game of Thrones. But it's just weird to me.
00:11:29
Also, I did not realize these episodes were so short.
00:11:33
Yeah, they're very short by comparison.
00:11:35
Like the first episode I think was like 40 something minutes.
00:11:39
And that was I was like, OK, that's probably average.
00:11:42
If you if you think about the fact that usually when we watch
00:11:45
TV, they have like commercials or whatever.
00:11:49
This one was only 34 minutes. And I know when it got to the
00:11:52
end and the credit started rolling, I was like, wait, what
00:11:55
already? Yeah, Does this short to anybody
00:11:59
else? And then I looked at it and it
00:12:01
said 34 minutes. I said wait, so you giving us 6
00:12:06
episodes that are right around the half hour, quarter hour
00:12:11
mark. I was like y'all could have just
00:12:14
made this a movie. I mean, I was thinking about
00:12:17
that too. Like they probably, I'll do like
00:12:19
the season finale, like longer. Like you know how they would
00:12:23
stretch out Game of Thrones for the longer stuff, the longer
00:12:26
battles. They might do that, but it is so
00:12:28
short because I'm just like, I'm just getting into the flow and
00:12:32
it's pretty much over, right? I kind of like it because it has
00:12:36
like a sitcom feel to it, yeah. I know so.
00:12:41
I don't, I don't mind as much, especially knowing, knowing the
00:12:45
story, the story pretty quickly when you're reading it.
00:12:48
So I like this this sort of different approach then like the
00:12:54
House of Dragon where they stretched, they stretched the
00:13:00
story as much as they could. We're here like we're just going
00:13:04
to give you the story. We're not going to do any
00:13:06
stretching. Like they left out the whole, I
00:13:08
don't know if they're going to do it in the next episode.
00:13:11
They left out the whole explanation of how the games
00:13:14
work like they didn't. They did they?
00:13:18
I don't, Yeah. They didn't even explain
00:13:22
anything about the Champions and how the challenges work.
00:13:25
They left. They just cut all that out.
00:13:27
Yeah. You know, the only thing they
00:13:29
talked about is if you lose, you lose your arms, your armor and
00:13:33
all this stuff for the. Ransom.
00:13:35
Yeah, you can get it back by paying a ransom.
00:13:38
And like, even when I'm thinking a book, when they ask him, well,
00:13:42
we can let you win, but if you lose all your stuff, do you have
00:13:46
the money to get it back? They actually they asked him
00:13:49
that in there too, bar he says that he doesn't have it or
00:13:52
whatever. I think I asked him that in the
00:13:54
first episode. I think the master, the master
00:13:56
of games said something to him about that.
00:13:58
So yeah, it's, it's not a straightforward explanation.
00:14:02
And maybe just for times sake, they, they're kind of like, OK,
00:14:06
if you're, if you're familiar with the Game of Thrones
00:14:09
universe, because again, I don't, I'm not sure that there
00:14:13
will be a lot of people who will be watching this if they're not
00:14:16
familiar with, but you kind of know what the attorneys are
00:14:20
like. And this is just kind of like a
00:14:23
that on a smaller scale with I think more participants because
00:14:27
I don't remember any of the other attorneys starting out
00:14:31
with like 10 people. Amazing at the same.
00:14:34
Time I was like, what is happening?
00:14:39
And and it was like I was trying to follow it because you have
00:14:43
all of these people, but of course they also did not
00:14:46
introduce us to who each person was.
00:14:49
It's kind of like throughout the two episodes, they're like, oh,
00:14:51
this person is in the list and this person is in the list, but
00:14:54
there's also rounds. Everybody's not in the same
00:14:57
round. So yeah, I think they could have
00:14:59
done with a little bit more explanation, but maybe they'll
00:15:02
do that in the third episode because I know a lot of a lot of
00:15:07
the, I should say, big stuff is probably going to happen in the
00:15:11
third episode and the fourth episode.
00:15:13
So they're probably explain that once you start kind of maybe
00:15:18
localizing the the list as far as like, OK, with this person is
00:15:23
about to go against this person and you start to see a little
00:15:26
bit of the conflicts come in the personal conflict.
00:15:29
So maybe they'll do that a little bit more in the third
00:15:31
episode. All I have to say is if anybody
00:15:35
is starting off with this show and they have not watched Game
00:15:38
of Thrones or even House of the Dragons, don't go back and try
00:15:40
to watch it now because this show is going to lead you
00:15:43
astray. I just want you to know that.
00:15:45
The vibe is totally, totally different, Yeah.
00:15:49
But I have noticed on social media, like on, I've been on
00:15:52
threads a little bit more lately, there are a lot of
00:15:55
people who are starting the Game of Thrones journey for the first
00:15:58
time right now. Yeah.
00:16:02
So I miss those days. So they're like, they're
00:16:05
excited. You know, one person just
00:16:07
finally got to the Red Wedding and she was like, what the fuck
00:16:10
did I watch? I'm like, oh, welcome to all of
00:16:13
our trauma. We have cookies and milk, you
00:16:17
know. Oh.
00:16:18
Yeah, trauma binding, crying and screaming.
00:16:22
Oh my. God, yes.
00:16:24
But OK, let's get into some of the other things because we get
00:16:29
introduced to quite a few Targaryens in this episode.
00:16:33
And I literally, like I said, I did go and make some notes
00:16:37
because all of the names, first of all, I need the Targaryens to
00:16:40
get a little more creative with the names.
00:16:43
Because. Good grief, trying to keep track
00:16:48
of who is who. This is this person, this
00:16:50
person, this person which Aegon is this which Oh my God.
00:16:55
So just to go over the the kind of family tree of the people
00:17:00
that we've either seen so far or heard about so far in this
00:17:05
particular episode. So right now, this is the rule
00:17:08
of Daron the second. Who is Daron the Good?
00:17:12
He is the son of Aegon the Second, grandson of Viserys the
00:17:16
Second. Who is Damon and Rainier's son.
00:17:18
And I don't think we're giving any House of the Dragon spoilers
00:17:22
away because we knew that Damon and Rainier had a son named
00:17:26
Viserys, so. Well, that that actually does
00:17:29
kind of spoil who wins between the greens and the blacks.
00:17:33
Not necessarily, doesn't. No, no, because the way that the
00:17:38
way they go back and forth with the with the conflicts and
00:17:42
stuff. No, I don't.
00:17:43
I don't think it does at, at at some point because, because you
00:17:48
may think one thing about the green and blacks and then the
00:17:52
next generation may have done something to switch The Who, who
00:17:56
was on the throne or the generation after that.
00:17:58
Again, they're on the second. They're on the good.
00:18:01
He is Rainier and Damon's grandson.
00:18:04
So something could have happened to change that something
00:18:08
generation or the next generation or even in his
00:18:12
generation. But we all, we all know a
00:18:14
Targaryen is going to be on the throne regardless, at least for
00:18:18
until Robert gets on the throne. So how the Targaryens get there?
00:18:23
I don't think we're spoiling anything by by saying any of
00:18:27
that. I'm just saying, and if you and,
00:18:30
and let's be honest, if you're watching the show, you already
00:18:34
know Targaryen history. You already know how that
00:18:38
conflict ended and what happened after that.
00:18:41
So I don't think, I don't think we're being spoilery.
00:18:44
But I don't think that's even spoilery because that alludes to
00:18:48
a linear path and and I don't think the path is going to be
00:18:52
that linear. I don't believe the path is that
00:18:54
linear. So I don't think that really is
00:18:56
spoilery like. But also, these are Targaryens.
00:18:59
They need. To marry.
00:19:00
So it's kind of, Oh my God, cousin, brother, uncle, cousin.
00:19:05
Right, somebody. Got that up in this episode too.
00:19:10
So I'm just so I'm just saying, but so the the two older
00:19:16
gentlemen that we meet when Sir Duncan goes to like plead his
00:19:21
case, that's Baylor Targaryen and May Car the first, who are
00:19:26
both sons of Darren the good and they're brothers.
00:19:30
Baylor is the oldest May Car is the is the younger.
00:19:34
Baylor is the nice 1. He is the one who like is is
00:19:40
nice to dunk. He's the one who remembers Sir
00:19:44
Arlen. He's the one who gives dunk.
00:19:47
You know, his his kind of his blessing to say, yeah, you can
00:19:50
answer. You can answer the list.
00:19:52
I'm cool with it. Makar is the one that's a little
00:19:56
bit more of an asshole. They kind of remind me of the
00:19:59
Saris and and Damon. As far as you have one that's
00:20:02
very level headed and then the next one is the more intemperate
00:20:07
one. And maybe it's just because, OK,
00:20:09
first in the line is, you know, he already knows where his
00:20:12
position is, he's cool. And the one that's second in
00:20:15
line, they're like, I should be the one that's the air.
00:20:18
You know, they they give off that that.
00:20:20
Always despair acting the fool. Right.
00:20:24
I think it's more about despair. Acting the fool, yeah.
00:20:27
Yeah. And then also we meet, well, we
00:20:32
kind of sort of meet Velar Targaryen.
00:20:34
He, we see him in the list. I don't think we actually
00:20:37
interact with him or anybody actually interacts with him.
00:20:41
We see him in the list. And Egg is the one who tells
00:20:45
Dunk, oh, that's who that is. He's the son of Baylor is.
00:20:50
Anybody else wondering? This is how I know the dunk is.
00:20:54
Seriously, seriously blind and very naive because why does this
00:20:59
kid know everybody in Westeros? We'll get to that because our
00:21:05
face and he's going. That's so and so.
00:21:08
We'll we'll get to that because because there's some other
00:21:10
things we got to talk about it it with that the other Targaryen
00:21:16
we meet Arian, who is who is also like he is giving off.
00:21:26
He's giving up the Sarah's vibes.
00:21:29
He's giving off and what Amy that?
00:21:32
Amy. I don't even.
00:21:36
No, I I thought the same thing, Dina.
00:21:39
I was like, oh. He already, his nose was turned
00:21:43
up all right. I was like, oh, no, right,
00:21:45
right. So we meet him.
00:21:48
We meet and what we hear about Daron and Aegon, those are the
00:21:54
two sons who were supposed to be there who are quote UN quote
00:21:59
missing. They've not shown up and no one
00:22:01
knows where they are. So yes, make our sons.
00:22:07
So Arian, Daron and Aegon are all his children, and I think
00:22:13
those are the only ones that have been mentioned in this
00:22:15
particular episode or in the two episodes.
00:22:18
So because I know he has other children, but we haven't heard
00:22:22
anything about them yet. So it's just those.
00:22:25
So I'm going to, I'm going to put a marker in the show notes.
00:22:30
This is where we're going to get into a little bit of spoilery
00:22:33
territory. So if you don't want to be
00:22:35
spoiled or if you don't know what's going on with this show
00:22:37
or with these characters, you may want to kind of hold off.
00:22:41
And then once we get done talking about this, I'll
00:22:43
bookmark that as well so you can kind of skip this part.
00:22:46
But going back to what you just said, Dina, they have given us
00:22:51
lots of clues in the in the 1st 2 episodes, I think as far as
00:22:57
Egg's true identity and what you just said as far as him, all of
00:23:04
the stuff that he knows and all of the stuff that he's telling
00:23:07
Dunk. Like he like he literally is
00:23:11
giving me our start with Tyrone Lannister and like he realized
00:23:15
she was not a vogue born child because she was keeping up and
00:23:19
she was too smart and she was even more simple.
00:23:22
The fact that she was saying my Lord is my Lord be Lord right
00:23:27
and he up here, my Lords, my Lord, he proper he got girl.
00:23:31
What he said, What did he say? He mentioned something and I
00:23:35
said I hang out with a little Flea Bottom, tiny little.
00:23:40
So how would he know that they don't know what these up up
00:23:43
these upper people look like. They never saw these people,
00:23:46
like most of those people never saw a king and queen or any of
00:23:48
these people to know what they they look like.
00:23:51
They might know their name and they might, you know, have to
00:23:54
know their history to a certain degree, but they don't really
00:23:56
know what these people look like.
00:23:58
Right. In the book they make it even
00:24:00
more obvious because of the scene where he's walking around
00:24:04
with with thinking and he's naming all of the different
00:24:09
houses. He knows all of the sigils.
00:24:12
He. Knows all of the Lords, of all
00:24:15
the houses and their children. Yeah, it's like really do.
00:24:19
And not only that, in the books they make it, they make it a
00:24:23
point to mention his eye color because in the books, the
00:24:28
Targaryens have purple eyes. And so they make it a point to
00:24:32
say that Egg on has like purplish blue eyes.
00:24:36
But again, I think what they what they're doing as far as the
00:24:40
show goes, because in the books, Dunk automatically assumes that
00:24:45
Egg is from Flea Bottom. He doesn't actually say are you
00:24:49
from Flea Bottom? So Egg never has to to say, no,
00:24:53
I'm not in the show. They actually made him
00:24:56
specifically say, are you from Flea Bottom?
00:24:58
He was like, no. And then when he said I'll I'll
00:25:00
take you back home, he said, well, you have to go all the way
00:25:03
back to King's Landing. So it's like you're telling us
00:25:07
he's from King's Landing, not necessarily saying he's a
00:25:10
Targaryen, but you're all you're already telling us he is a child
00:25:14
of noble birth, of noble birth. The other thing about that is if
00:25:21
you notice the way he reacts when he sees certain people in
00:25:26
the episodes, like when he sees certain Targaryens, like when he
00:25:31
saw the when the Targaryens first came in over the bridge
00:25:35
and he saw the flags, you know, he was like, maybe maybe I
00:25:39
should go ahead and take the horses back to the camp.
00:25:41
He was like, I don't want to be around here, all of that.
00:25:44
But it has to be the head thing because again, he looks so
00:25:51
different from what a Targaryen, quote UN quote should look like
00:25:56
that even the noble people who should know who he is, if he is
00:26:00
one of their Princess, they're not paying attention to him
00:26:02
because, you know, they're looking at his head shaved and
00:26:06
they're probably thinking, oh, he's a sickly kid.
00:26:08
Oh, he's, you know, he's somebody not of ill important.
00:26:12
Plus, he's dressed kind of like a peasant, you know what I'm
00:26:15
saying? That.
00:26:18
But then here's the other thing. I don't think anybody would have
00:26:22
gotten it in the first episode. But once you get in the second
00:26:25
episode and you start having a conversation with Baylor and
00:26:29
Makar, and they're talking about the two missing sons.
00:26:33
I was like, OK, And then you mentioned the sons by name,
00:26:36
Daron and Egon. OK, Egon Egg.
00:26:39
It's easy to make that connection.
00:26:42
But also if you think about it, when Dunk was in the end, there
00:26:47
was a drunk Targaryen at the table totally in his cups,
00:26:53
totally upset or depressed about something.
00:26:57
And then you hear you hear the two brothers talking about how
00:27:01
Makar was forcing Darren to enter in the list.
00:27:05
And he was like, Darren should not be in the list at all.
00:27:08
You know, you you shouldn't have forced him.
00:27:10
He's also what you're trying to say.
00:27:12
Like, my son is better at drinking whores than he was.
00:27:14
Like, I didn't say that. But the implication is, yeah,
00:27:18
that's what he is. But you have that Prince who was
00:27:22
there in the end, drunk, upset, whatever, whatever.
00:27:26
And then in the same end is where Dunk comes across Egg.
00:27:33
It's too, it's too much of A coincidence for us not to put it
00:27:36
together. And then again, you talk about a
00:27:40
he knows all the sigils. He knows who these people are,
00:27:45
the way that he talks. What other kid would be sitting
00:27:48
in the field play fighting Thomas and Gil, your black,
00:27:51
black fire bastard, bastard. Who else would say that?
00:27:57
But The thing is, Dunk is ignorant of all of that stuff
00:28:02
because he didn't grow up and Flea Bottom, he didn't grow up
00:28:06
in King's Landing because Sir Arlen grabbed him, took him,
00:28:10
took him all over the country with him.
00:28:13
So he I don't think he wouldn't know to pick up on these types
00:28:17
of things because he probably has never been around a noble
00:28:21
child. It to that extent to be like,
00:28:24
oh, he know what he talking about because he's part of this.
00:28:28
Especially if he was like Anthony said, as young as six or
00:28:33
seven when he started, you know, squiring or started being Sir
00:28:38
Arlen's companion, he wouldn't know.
00:28:42
But us, it's almost like you got a big man.
00:28:45
Like say, hey, we got Aegon Targaryen.
00:28:49
It's clever. How they do though, because
00:28:51
remember we were talking about last time I was like, you know,
00:28:54
it's interesting how he, because he automatically assumed that
00:28:57
the little boy in the stables was her son because she said my
00:29:00
son did this and there was a little boy.
00:29:02
So for him, he just mashed it on up.
00:29:04
Well, it's a little poor, little little scallywag boy and then
00:29:09
she's a poor in lady. And so he never once considered
00:29:12
that the son that wasn't the son.
00:29:14
Because my thing is this, this kid ran away from his mom and
00:29:18
you don't think nothing of it? Right, I think, I think he
00:29:23
wants. So he did say Egg did tell him
00:29:27
that's not my, my mother's dead. And he was like the innkeeper,
00:29:30
like he was like, that's not your mother.
00:29:33
They they did have that conversation.
00:29:34
Conversation. So yeah.
00:29:37
I think, I think some, I think maybe, you know, Duncan is
00:29:40
trying to model himself after Sir Arlen.
00:29:44
So in his mind this is like him doing for Egg what Arlen did for
00:29:49
him. So and that's all he sees.
00:29:52
He's not seeing anything beyond that.
00:29:54
Yeah. Please do not show us his front
00:29:57
next episode at HBO. Please don't.
00:30:00
He's a big man. He's a really big man.
00:30:02
I just I couldn't handle. It but but yeah, OK, so.
00:30:11
So I'm not going to touch that dinner at all.
00:30:13
I'm just not. OK, so we're going to we're
00:30:15
going to close off the the spoilery part right here, but
00:30:20
OK, so I want to talk about some of the other people that we come
00:30:24
into contact with because we've already talked about the the
00:30:28
different Targaryens. I I like Baylor.
00:30:31
I feel like he is, you know, he's of the Targaryen blood, but
00:30:37
again, he kind of takes after the saris in my mind.
00:30:41
But also, if you think about who Daron the good is, I mean, they
00:30:46
call him Daron the good. So he has to be one of the more
00:30:49
temperamental, you know, stabley temperamental Targaryens.
00:30:54
And then, you know, Makor seems like he's an asshole, even even
00:31:01
just the way he's he's talking to Dunk like or the way he's
00:31:05
talking to The Who was the Sir Ashland or I think Lord Ashland.
00:31:12
Lord Ashford. Yeah, Ashford, the one who's
00:31:16
actually putting on these games, he he really does have an air of
00:31:21
you guys are beneath me. I'm just, I'm not about to be
00:31:24
bothered with you. And even with Duncan speaking to
00:31:28
his brother, he's been very respectful.
00:31:30
He's being very complimentary. And of course, Mako is probably
00:31:33
like, I hear this shit all the time.
00:31:35
I'm so sick of it. Just just get out.
00:31:36
He already, he already gave you what you want.
00:31:38
Get out. Get out.
00:31:40
But it's like him, Arianne. I already know.
00:31:44
I'm not about to like these two. Yeah, they're they're about to
00:31:48
be on that, on that Viserys. Daenerys brothers level.
00:31:53
Like, can you please put a pot of gold on their head?
00:31:56
Well, I don't know. They might not be that bad, but
00:31:59
I'm not. Yeah, I'm not.
00:32:02
I do like, I do like Baylor's costume design.
00:32:07
He had the dragon thing right here that you're so used to
00:32:11
seeing with Raniera and Daenerys.
00:32:15
It was kind of cool. Yeah.
00:32:17
Prince of Dragonstone, so. I like him though so far he me
00:32:21
too. Seems like a stand up guy.
00:32:24
Me too. I mean, we got to have a couple
00:32:26
of Targaryens that we like. And then I also like that he's a
00:32:29
dark haired target. I noticed that.
00:32:34
I noticed that I was like, that's interesting, but I don't
00:32:39
again, I'm only looking at the show right now.
00:32:42
I haven't gone back and dug into like the history of everything.
00:32:48
Like I know that I know where his his lineage is, but I'm not
00:32:53
going to talk about it here because of the fact that, like
00:32:56
Anthony said, we don't know. We're going to assume that that
00:33:00
the people who are watching the show and the show only don't
00:33:03
know what the outcome is of, you know.
00:33:07
The Dancer Dragons. Team yeah, the big team of the
00:33:12
Dancer Dragons, Team Black versus Team Green, we just know
00:33:15
he's a Targaryen. So it it kind of again, doesn't
00:33:20
really matter in in this particular moment where what
00:33:25
side of the Targaryen line he came from, because they're all
00:33:27
related anyway, for the most part.
00:33:31
But the other people that that we meet, you have Sir Roland
00:33:42
Craig Hall and Sir Donald of was the Duskin, who are kings guards
00:33:50
to the Targaryens. Those are two interesting people
00:33:54
because Sir Roland, he seems like like he's an asshole, but
00:34:01
he's not Makar or Arian Targaryen type of asshole.
00:34:06
You know he. He, he's just there.
00:34:09
He's just there doing his job. That's it.
00:34:12
And he? Has a little bit of a snobby
00:34:14
nose, but not enough to the point where I was like, I don't
00:34:17
like you because the way he even when he when he talks to Dunk
00:34:21
and Dunk sees them he was like, you know, Sir, he was like well
00:34:24
met. You know that's what you you say
00:34:28
that to people that you are not necessarily disrespectful of but
00:34:31
it's just a polite way to say to A to another knight or you know
00:34:36
someone like, hey, how you doing He could have easily been like,
00:34:40
who the hell are you like all these other people you know are
00:34:44
you are you Baylor Targaryen? We'll get the fuck out.
00:34:46
He could have he could have treated him like that.
00:34:49
He didn't, you know, But we do know he does have a little bit
00:34:52
of that chip because when he says what did he say?
00:34:56
Do you ride your horses or do your horses ride you?
00:35:00
Sir Donald was like, forgive him.
00:35:03
He's not used to having to look up to turn his nose down.
00:35:06
I was like, OK, so the fact that he could say it and and Sir, Sir
00:35:12
Roland didn't even, he didn't even bat an eye.
00:35:14
He was just like, you know, I'm just, that's just how I am or
00:35:17
whatever. I was like, OK, he's going to be
00:35:20
an asshole, but not like talk to your asshole.
00:35:23
Might be one of those that I can kind of deal with.
00:35:27
I feel like Sir Donald, I'm going to like, because he took
00:35:30
the time to actually have a conversation with Dunk.
00:35:33
He was very respectful in that conversation.
00:35:35
Because if you notice, most people are not respectful when
00:35:37
they talk to Dunk, You know, even even the way that he said
00:35:42
you, what did he say? You don't smell what you don't
00:35:47
smell. House bread.
00:35:48
House bread or something. I feel like he didn't say it in
00:35:52
a way that was disrespectful. He was just making a point.
00:35:55
Like, OK, you're a knight, but you're not one of these kind of
00:35:58
Knights. You know, grew up in luxury kind
00:36:02
of knight. Right, right.
00:36:03
That. And that's, you know what?
00:36:05
That's the other thing going back to egg, Sir Duncan should
00:36:09
know. This is a clean boy.
00:36:10
He should know he's not. Yeah, but.
00:36:15
Oh my God, Adam. Adam after that first episode,
00:36:18
he he was obsessed with the fact that they don't have tissue.
00:36:22
And when he put an egg on his shoulders, Adam was like, they
00:36:27
don't have tissue, but he's. But here's the thing in in those
00:36:32
days and even Sir Roland and Sir Donald, you kind of hear that
00:36:36
conversation. I know they used hay to wipe
00:36:39
their ass back then. I don't know how, I don't know
00:36:42
how well that works or whatever, but you know.
00:36:47
And if you watch watching the medieval shows, you always get
00:36:50
that one joke where someone used Poison Ivy when they're out in
00:36:54
the woods instead of just, you know, they just pick any leaf
00:36:58
and not realize that they had. I mean, they, they, they just,
00:37:02
you know, tissue paper was I, I don't know if.
00:37:04
Tissue. It wasn't a thing.
00:37:05
Invented yet? So it wasn't a thing.
00:37:07
I don't think it's crazy to me that people didn't think that
00:37:10
through. Yeah, haze, sand, leaves,
00:37:15
whatever. Yeah, I have a feeling like Egg.
00:37:20
Given who who we think he is or who we know he is, I feel like
00:37:24
he would probably know how to clean.
00:37:29
Them right, that's what he yeah, that's what we were talking.
00:37:32
About but yeah, I mean, that was because because I you think
00:37:35
about that first episode when you see Dunk having an upset
00:37:40
stomach for to say it politely, and then you think about what
00:37:44
his clothes might smell like. Like even when he was trying to
00:37:47
wash his clothes out, he sniffed and he was like, yeah, he would
00:37:49
just like please tell me this man is not walking around
00:37:53
smelling like shit trying to flirt with the puppeteer girl.
00:37:56
Just dude, it's just. But I was feeling like, you
00:38:00
know, but The thing is like, yes, people could tell you
00:38:03
stank, but everybody stank. All they did was mostly just put
00:38:08
on perfumes and oils on top of stank because they didn't just
00:38:11
have ready water typically. Right, so man.
00:38:14
The horse and the horses were walking around and they were
00:38:17
pooping everywhere. Yeah, how's all that?
00:38:20
Yeah, it was just funky back then.
00:38:22
Yeah, but also, unless you were somebody like a Targaryen, like,
00:38:27
what was the girl being told when Dunk got ready to follow
00:38:30
her? They told her.
00:38:32
They said, hey, you need to go in there.
00:38:34
The Princess need their hands washed.
00:38:36
I'm on my way. Yeah, Mama, wash your hands
00:38:40
like. But again, a different mindset,
00:38:43
different time period. But you know, going back to Sir
00:38:49
Donald, yeah, the way that he talked to Dunk, he is almost
00:38:53
like he was talking to Dunk, as in not necessarily an equal, but
00:38:57
he was he treated him like a person, right, Which you you
00:39:02
notice does not happen to Dunk a lot like a lot of people dismiss
00:39:07
him just like the little girl. She was like you're you're big
00:39:11
and you're stupid. I was like who the hell are you?
00:39:15
Like But. Does he not introduce himself as
00:39:21
Sir Lincoln at all to Sir Donald?
00:39:23
Because that might have had something to do with it too.
00:39:27
Like he did claim himself as a knight, so he would he would
00:39:31
treat him with a little more respect and difference than he
00:39:34
would anyone else. But The thing is, other people,
00:39:37
even when he, when he introduces himself as a knight, they hear
00:39:42
it, but they look at him and they judge him based on what he
00:39:45
has on. And I feel like Sir Donald
00:39:48
didn't do that. No, he didn't.
00:39:50
You know, so that that kind of endears me to his character a
00:39:54
little bit more because obviously Dunk has the.
00:40:00
I don't even know if I want to say the stature, but he presents
00:40:03
himself like he's a knight. You know what I'm saying?
00:40:06
He's very respectful. He's very honorable, which in
00:40:09
our minds is what nights are supposed to be like, you know,
00:40:14
and the fact that Sir Donald kind of still talks to him
00:40:20
regular, you know, gives him his little history because he asked
00:40:24
him if he's a if he's a Darkling from.
00:40:33
He kind of gives me that, Sir Davos, kind of like, I know I'm
00:40:37
from the bottom, but I'm here and I'm going to treat you with
00:40:40
respect because I had the crime to get to where we at, kind of.
00:40:44
Right, right. And it's and you know, I also
00:40:47
like the fact that he was telling him, you know, my family
00:40:50
have been cravers because well, when when he asks Dunk, where
00:40:56
are you from? He was like nowhere really.
00:40:58
He was like, oh, I know that place.
00:40:59
I'm from there too. And then Duncan's like, wait,
00:41:03
are you part of this family? He was like, no, but he, but my,
00:41:07
my family, we've been, we've been crabbers for generations.
00:41:10
And then later on when he's talking to Egg and Egg is like,
00:41:15
his father owns half of the crabbing boats in Westeros.
00:41:19
Don't just like. Why?
00:41:21
Do you know that? Not only that, but what?
00:41:25
So his father is big, but he didn't.
00:41:27
He didn't, he didn't hold that over dunk or he didn't kind of
00:41:31
use it to, to say, oh, this is who I am.
00:41:34
He he just had a more humble, you know, perspective about him.
00:41:42
And I just, I like that a little bit.
00:41:44
You know, it's especially because I'm, I'm just kind of
00:41:47
I'm sick of people treating dunk the way that he, you know, the
00:41:50
way that they treat him. But even with the the armourer,
00:41:55
when he talked to him, the armor was very straightforward with
00:41:58
him. And when Dunk just kind of was
00:42:00
like, I can't afford this armor. I'm just going to put this back.
00:42:03
Thank you for your time. He was like, he was like, I'm
00:42:07
going to lose money. But OK, so I can take this.
00:42:10
I can take your old armor. I can use the metal.
00:42:13
I'll give it to you for, you know, a reduced price, blah,
00:42:17
blah, blah. Dunk was like, I only have two
00:42:19
stacks. OK, this will hold you for a
00:42:20
day. You just got to figure the rest
00:42:23
out. I, you know, I was so sad when
00:42:26
Dunk was talking to the horse and he was like, when I when I
00:42:29
win this, I'm gonna get enough money to buy you back.
00:42:31
I started tearing up. I was like, I don't know this
00:42:33
horse like this. I don't say.
00:42:36
I don't say go get her back. I'm.
00:42:39
Like, no, I don't know. I haven't gotten that far in the
00:42:43
story in the book yet. But, you know, just the fact
00:42:46
that he has that kind of gentle spirit, like he talks to the
00:42:49
horses like they're people. Even the Targaryen horse that
00:42:52
kicked the stable hand, you know, he talked to when he
00:42:56
calmed it down, took it in the thing and he was just like
00:42:59
having a conversation with it. I always feel like with, with
00:43:03
people who, and, and this comes from being an animal person to
00:43:07
people who talk to animals, I feel like are on a higher plane
00:43:10
of existence than other people, you know, because if you can get
00:43:14
an animal to trust you, you can get an animal to calm down where
00:43:18
other people can't. That's something within you, you
00:43:23
know, for for someone that can't speak and can't give you their
00:43:27
feelings, for them to be able to trust you like that, to be like,
00:43:31
oh, OK, yeah, I'm a calm down for him.
00:43:33
That just kind of tells you what kind of person that person is.
00:43:36
So I'm like, you know, Dunk has a big heart.
00:43:40
Again, he's honorable. He's very honest, you know,
00:43:44
which is also a rarity in those days.
00:43:47
And I just, I just want him to win at all of this.
00:43:52
I know he's about to go through some stuff, but I just want him
00:43:56
to win because I, I really want him.
00:43:59
Like at the end of the the episode, he talks about how, you
00:44:03
know, Sir Arlen was here for almost 60 years and nobody, you
00:44:07
know, he's done all these good deeds.
00:44:09
He's done this, he's done that, and nobody remembers him.
00:44:12
He was like, what kind of hedge might, you know, doesn't have
00:44:16
any victories and is buried in a shallow grave on the side of the
00:44:20
road? He was like, what kind of legacy
00:44:21
is that? He said.
00:44:22
But he took me in. He treated me like family even
00:44:26
though we weren't. And he taught me how to be an
00:44:29
honorable man. And damn it, I'm going to go in
00:44:33
these lists and I'm going to show he was like, I am his
00:44:36
legacy. I'm going to show them what what
00:44:39
he made of me. And I'm just kind of like, yes,
00:44:42
yes, that's what I want. And even the fact that Egg sat
00:44:46
there and listened to him and was looking at him so serious
00:44:50
because Egg has been just kind of ripping on him the entire
00:44:53
episode. I love their camaraderie.
00:44:55
I love the way they go back and forth.
00:44:57
But he was sitting there listening like, OK, yeah.
00:45:02
I, you know, and, and if you're the younger brother of an
00:45:09
asshole, I reckon Dunk must be a breath of fresh air for him.
00:45:14
Oh yeah, you know. What I'm saying?
00:45:17
Definitely, but their their comedy is is so funny because
00:45:22
when they when they were talking after the whole thing with the
00:45:25
puppet girl and Dunk was telling people he was like, do you think
00:45:29
I could be a knight? You know, people say I'm small
00:45:32
even for my age. And Dunk, Dunk is sitting there
00:45:34
almost like he's about to latest story till he was like, yeah, he
00:45:39
was like, you know, people call me being stupid all the time and
00:45:43
he just stopped and he was like, and what?
00:45:46
What he's? Saying he's.
00:45:49
Saying, what did you do about that?
00:45:50
Right. That ain't none of your
00:45:53
business. That's mine.
00:45:54
The way he was like that. Little boy, that little boy.
00:46:02
No, he can act though when I say listen.
00:46:06
These kid actors that are coming out these days, they are so
00:46:12
phenomenal. It's like their their instincts
00:46:17
for their characters and the emotions that they can can
00:46:22
portray. And just like you are holding
00:46:24
your own with a grown ass man, Sir, you are a.
00:46:28
Tiny little baby. Right.
00:46:32
That's right there. Killed me.
00:46:34
I laughed so hard. Because he was even, the
00:46:38
expressions, he was like, like, what are you talking about?
00:46:44
Like are you even? Listening to what I'm saying.
00:46:49
I love it. I, I love this, I, I love this
00:46:53
little companionship. I, I love the fact that Dunk is
00:46:57
so irritated by him, but also at the same time, it's like, no,
00:47:02
he's you and a little body. He just has a little, a little
00:47:06
more mouth. Because even when, when they're
00:47:09
coming in, before they realize the Targaryens are there and
00:47:13
Dunk is complaining because he was like, nobody remembers Sir
00:47:16
Arlen. Nobody will vouch for me.
00:47:19
He was like, just go in to listen anyway.
00:47:22
Just tell them fuck them. He was.
00:47:24
Like I thought about that too. Just just go in there and act
00:47:29
like you freaking night and and just do it.
00:47:32
And just do it and and what do you say?
00:47:34
Tell them to fuck themselves. I said OK, don't.
00:47:37
This should have been your this should have been your clue.
00:47:40
The egg ain't who he says he is or that he's more than he
00:47:45
serves. He is, because he said that was
00:47:47
such confidence. Yeah.
00:47:50
And uncle's like you're a bit brazen, no?
00:47:54
He that's the thing. That's that's the thing that
00:47:56
thinking is missing. He's missing that confidence.
00:47:58
Yeah, Because if he walked in there like that, it would be a
00:48:03
totally different story. Yeah, yeah.
00:48:05
No one would be questioning questioning him being a knight.
00:48:08
Right. Yeah, yeah.
00:48:10
He's also egg is very compassionate and very he pays
00:48:14
attention so well because he was just like when he first told him
00:48:17
to go and he was like, Nah, I'm staying because you have been
00:48:21
basically going through this story and like having to
00:48:24
basically re bury your master over and over again and nobody
00:48:27
knows him. It's got to like he's like, it's
00:48:28
got to be like heartbreaking. I don't want to leave you.
00:48:31
And it's just like this child has the emotional like, Oh my
00:48:36
gosh, it's right. Like his range is insane.
00:48:38
And the yeah, the maturity. Pretty as well so that also
00:48:43
tells you there's more to this little boy than he is letting on
00:48:47
because you I I'm sorry most of the kids that we've seen in this
00:48:52
particular world Game of Thrones world, they don't have that kind
00:48:57
of that kind of focus and that kind of maturity even unless
00:49:03
they are raised nobly or they have gone through some major,
00:49:07
major trauma and they've had to learn to get over it you know
00:49:11
what I'm saying in order to survive.
00:49:14
So one of the two with that kid. But yeah I.
00:49:17
And again, I think this comes to the way that Dunk was probably
00:49:21
raised by Sir Arlen. He just.
00:49:26
Do you know who else knows you? You know who else recognizes
00:49:29
Duncan's value? Oh.
00:49:32
So. Yeah, Yeah.
00:49:32
Yeah, yeah. Oh.
00:49:34
My God that is my homie. I hope he does not change
00:49:40
because. The funny, the funniest thing is
00:49:43
he leaves the tug of one line. Where you going?
00:49:46
I'm thirsty. I'm thirsty.
00:49:48
But what did he say? If we look, if we lose this
00:49:50
game, I'm a drown your first. But what?
00:49:55
But look how it was genius though, because what happened
00:49:57
when he left, they didn't have that strength, so they was
00:50:00
pulling with all they might and they were winning.
00:50:02
So when he came back, they were on that level of whatever
00:50:05
pulling he added to that and it threw them off their Now he did
00:50:10
that. Also too, because I think in
00:50:12
that moment when he left, don't realize, I think that was when
00:50:17
it clicked for him. OK, this man told me, if I'm
00:50:19
tall, be tall. It's kind of like be who you
00:50:22
are. And he was like, wait, I'm the
00:50:23
I'm the biggest motherfucker on this line.
00:50:26
Why are we losing? Hold up.
00:50:28
He started digging those heels in and started pulling and they
00:50:32
started winning. Pour egg.
00:50:34
He just had to put his. Legs up on on the right.
00:50:39
Because he couldn't do anything. And then of course, Lionel's
00:50:42
like, all right, I see what you're doing.
00:50:44
And he, he slaps dunk on the butt, kind of like, good job.
00:50:49
And I was like, maybe this is what he was doing.
00:50:52
He was just kind of like, I need you to, I need you to feel your
00:50:54
autonomy. Like I, I really feel like, like
00:50:58
he could have just been being selfish.
00:51:01
OK, I'm, I'm thirsty, but I really feel like he put, he put
00:51:05
dunk in there and he left it like that.
00:51:07
Like look, I need you to realize your potential.
00:51:10
No, I think he just wanted to. I think he just wanted to win.
00:51:13
Whatever I'm I'm gonna think. I'm gonna think nice things
00:51:15
about Lionel. I'm gonna think I love Lionel.
00:51:17
Dunk out. There's nothing wrong with that.
00:51:19
He looked. He saw.
00:51:20
Oh wait, this dude is not doing anything.
00:51:23
Come over here, Sir, he's drinking.
00:51:25
Something it's poor. He was like what is this pissy
00:51:27
form? Like what is this you are
00:51:29
drinking? Yeah, if you're going.
00:51:33
To have, if Sir Duncan Fatal is going to have one friend, it's
00:51:40
going to have to be Sir Lionel. Yeah, there's got to be his
00:51:44
person. It's got to be.
00:51:46
Got to be. But I mean, he's had, so he's
00:51:49
had Lionel, Lionel Baratheon, like I said, Sir, Sir Donald of
00:51:55
Dusk and Dale. And then who was the guy in the
00:51:58
first episode? So.
00:52:01
Far away, far away. Yes, the cousin.
00:52:04
Yeah. So I feel like, OK, he's got.
00:52:08
There were a few people who were nicer than normal to him.
00:52:12
And and if you count 10 Tenzel. Yeah.
00:52:15
Yeah, but you know what? He don't?
00:52:18
He don't want her friendship. He he want her.
00:52:21
He like her and. When he said to when a guy told
00:52:26
him they had a commonality but but first he was like y'all are
00:52:30
both gigantic or whatever he said.
00:52:34
Because, she said she said the boys used to call her Tamsin too
00:52:39
tall. Yeah, Tamsin, too tall.
00:52:41
That's it. In the book she's she's supposed
00:52:44
to be half a head shorter than him.
00:52:46
So he's 611. She's supposed to be like 6365.
00:52:52
Wow. Yeah.
00:52:54
Wow. And then, you know, he he he
00:52:58
says that and he's like, is that and that.
00:53:00
So that's the thing, like because he's an older guy
00:53:03
playing a person who's supposed to be a teenager, kind of he's
00:53:07
definitely, you know, he's, he doesn't know things.
00:53:10
So when he's asking this child, wait, is that a thing?
00:53:13
Like, is this a thing? Is this how we're supposed to be
00:53:15
together? And he's like, you have some
00:53:18
compatibility, I guess he's like.
00:53:21
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like oh man, he's like from
00:53:26
bottom boards I guess. The the one thing we don't get,
00:53:31
we get a little bit of it, but we don't get from the book is a
00:53:34
lot of his internal monologue and he talks about seeing her
00:53:38
and how she is like the perfect height for kissing and he.
00:53:42
Almost. He almost says that too because
00:53:45
when she says something about her being too tall, he was like.
00:53:48
I think. I think.
00:53:49
Your grade was like, you're the perfect, you're the perfect
00:53:52
height for it. And he was, I think in his mind
00:53:54
he was saying you're the perfect height for me.
00:53:57
But he wasn't going to be so bold as to say that.
00:54:00
And she was just like, for what he's.
00:54:03
And Egg is so funny because he's just looking at him like, wow,
00:54:07
this guy is faltering. Puppeteers, puppeteering.
00:54:10
Yeah. He's just like, he's the best
00:54:12
wing man ever for Dunk because Dunk has absolutely no clue what
00:54:18
he's been doing, what he's doing.
00:54:19
And also, OK, so here's the other thing with Sir Arlen as
00:54:23
far as Dunk goes. So usually in in Game of
00:54:27
Thrones, you know, lore, universe, whatever.
00:54:32
By dunks age, Sir Arlen should have already taken him to a
00:54:38
brothel for his first woman. Yeah.
00:54:42
I think like I think he did. No, because even in the book,
00:54:47
even in the book I couldn't remember, says that he's never
00:54:50
laying with a woman. Oh yeah, he does.
00:54:52
Yes, so so the fact that Dunk doesn't even know how to talk to
00:54:58
a woman, it's just it's so it's so strange.
00:55:02
But then you have egg on the side.
00:55:04
That's kind of like filling in the blanks.
00:55:06
And I was like, what's little boy know about talking to women?
00:55:09
That's another clue about this boy is more than what he seems,
00:55:14
because if he was just a regular boy who's just been on the run,
00:55:17
he wouldn't have had like like he won.
00:55:21
He's too young to go to a brothel to he's too young to
00:55:24
have the coin to go to a brothel.
00:55:27
Yeah. I was like, OK, Dunk, Egg is
00:55:31
your he's your wing man. He's going to help you with this
00:55:34
because it's obviously it's obvious you got a thing for this
00:55:37
girl and you just don't know what to do about it.
00:55:40
Eggs. Like, OK, yeah, I'm, I'm hook
00:55:43
you up. I'm help you out.
00:55:45
Which made it even more funny when they had that conversation
00:55:48
afterwards. And Dunk was like, what business
00:55:51
of it is what he's like? I'm sitting here helping you and
00:55:55
you can't even answer a question.
00:55:58
Help me for a change. Right, but the other thing about
00:56:05
this episode is the list they that they actually start that
00:56:08
night. Why exit the same thing?
00:56:13
Why did this man bite into this raw fish?
00:56:16
What the like? Was he a toy?
00:56:20
He was, he was a telly. He was a telly, right?
00:56:23
Yeah. You know what are they trying to
00:56:28
meet a certain quota for how many times they can gross aside
00:56:31
in the episode? I mean, you only gave us 30
00:56:33
minutes and you gave like, what are y'all doing?
00:56:36
Even egg was like, yeah, the thing with the fish that was
00:56:40
disgusting. Yeah, the lists are great, but I
00:56:46
I could have done without the fish that was.
00:56:48
That was too much. OK, But this is the one thing I
00:56:51
didn't, I didn't catch. And I did go back, Anthony.
00:56:54
I freeze framed and I rewind. I was trying to figure this out,
00:56:58
but when when they're watching the list and egg is on Duck's
00:57:04
shoulders, there's a moment after the first, after the first
00:57:09
joust where the Squires are giving everyone their their new
00:57:17
lances and and egg looks over at 1.
00:57:23
And I don't think it was I don't think it was anybody
00:57:27
recognizable. Like I didn't see a Targaryen
00:57:29
shit. I think it was somebody in green
00:57:31
and gold and somebody else. But he was looking at them give
00:57:35
this the the spear, and his face completely changed.
00:57:40
He went from joy to kind of worry.
00:57:43
And then he started looking at his wrist like this.
00:57:47
And then he told Duck to put him down so he could get to the
00:57:50
front. Do you know what that was about?
00:57:53
Because I was confused it was because he realized he was so
00:57:56
tiny and how much work they had to put into it.
00:58:00
I thought he could put into how small his hands were compared to
00:58:04
because they were all grown and they are.
00:58:07
Grown. Yeah, well, his responsibility
00:58:09
would be. If he like, he could be on his.
00:58:13
Shoulders, I'm a man. I need to be, you know, and
00:58:17
then. If you watch the.
00:58:19
If you watch going to be jousting, then he's going to be
00:58:22
the one responsible. OK, OK, got it.
00:58:24
So have you watched the trailer for the next episode?
00:58:27
No, I have not. OK, OK, well it's not a sport,
00:58:31
but there there is a scene where he's running where Egg is
00:58:34
running with the Lance. Oh, OK.
00:58:37
So he, he must have, he must have realized he could do it.
00:58:41
But I think that's, that's what like being said, that's what he
00:58:44
was worried about. OK, because I was looking at
00:58:47
that and I was trying to figure I was like, what is he looking
00:58:49
at? Because I thought, because at
00:58:51
first I was thinking like, is he supposed to be in shackles?
00:58:54
Like did he escape from being? I mean, literally that's what I
00:58:58
thought. Because I was like, it's so
00:59:00
weird that he looks you look at your wrist and you do your hands
00:59:03
like this. And I was like, like, what is
00:59:07
this? What is this boy's story?
00:59:09
But OK, that makes a lot more sense.
00:59:12
That makes a lot more sense. And then Dunk having his little
00:59:19
panic attack once he sits egg down and he's thinking about,
00:59:25
you know, he's watching the jousting.
00:59:27
And I think the thing that you saw is like, I think Dunk, in
00:59:32
his mind, he has a certain idea of how nights are supposed to
00:59:36
behave again, because of the way that Sir Arlen raised him.
00:59:40
And then you see all these people during this jobs, Like,
00:59:44
people have clearly been knocked off their horse, but you're
00:59:47
still coming after them with your lances.
00:59:50
You're still like, somebody was about to run over another person
00:59:54
with their horse. And he's looking at all of this
00:59:58
and thinking about, oh, is this what I'm going to be?
01:00:01
Expected to do and again then he starts having the flashbacks
01:00:04
about the different things that Sir Arlen did or said and then
01:00:09
him burying him. And that's when he came to the
01:00:11
revelation at the end. He was like, you know, Sir Arlen
01:00:14
was this he you know, he was a hedge knight for 60 years.
01:00:17
Nobody remembers him and and what does he have to show for
01:00:20
he's he's buried in a a shallow grave.
01:00:23
He was like, is this, is this what my destiny is?
01:00:26
Is this what I'm going to be? Because if he was such a great
01:00:29
night and this was his fate. Yeah.
01:00:32
What it. What is my fate?
01:00:35
And I think, you know, he panicked about it at first, but
01:00:38
then that's when he was kind of like, no, I I'm his legacy.
01:00:41
I got to show them what this man was made of.
01:00:44
Not just for him. He wants to do it for Sir Arlen.
01:00:48
You know, like I'll make sure y'all never forget his name
01:00:51
again. Which is like that great, that
01:00:55
amount of like gratefulness that he has for this man.
01:00:58
It's like he sees out his faults.
01:01:00
He knows that he wasn't perfect, but he saved him.
01:01:04
And he's just going to be like ever grateful for this man,
01:01:07
teaching him things and saving him.
01:01:09
And it's just like that is so pure of heart.
01:01:13
He's so pure. I love him so much.
01:01:15
Yep, which is another reason why I'm like, Dunk is one of those
01:01:18
characters I will fight for, right?
01:01:21
All y'all people being being mean to him, I'm gonna need
01:01:25
y'all to get you to come up. And so I'm gonna need you to
01:01:26
change your mind. I'm gonna need you to fix your
01:01:28
shit real quick, right? Because it don't take nothing to
01:01:32
be nice. This man, what was his Oh, God,
01:01:34
keep mixing all the names. Is it Baylor?
01:01:37
That's the big Prince Doesn't lie.
01:01:39
He's a Prince. He is a Crown Prince.
01:01:42
And he was just as gentle and kind and sweet.
01:01:46
It's it cost nothing to be kind. Even even when Dunk made the
01:01:50
faux pas when I was talking about he said, yeah, I remember.
01:01:55
I remember jostling against Sir Arlen.
01:01:58
We broke 4 lances before before it ended.
01:02:01
He was like 7. He was like, well, you know, I
01:02:04
know that Tails kind of, you know, get exaggerated, he said.
01:02:09
But I assure you it was 4. He could have easily because
01:02:12
when Dunk said seven, I literally did this like, oh, you
01:02:16
just fucked up. You just fucked up.
01:02:18
But the way that he diffused that situation because even
01:02:22
Makor was like, hold up. Baylor was like, no, it was
01:02:28
mistaken. He was like, but it was it was
01:02:30
just for I assure you. Oh, I'm so sorry.
01:02:32
He was like, no harm was done. Get rise, get off your knees.
01:02:35
You don't have to just that whole again.
01:02:39
He does remind me a lot of of the way the saris was, you know,
01:02:42
the saris was the peaceful king, you know, and and he did get a
01:02:48
lot done with that kind of stoic attitude.
01:02:52
And I feel like Baylor, what what was it that Dunk said that
01:02:57
Sir Arlen said that, you know, the the Seven Kingdoms would be
01:03:00
in great hands with rule. And even that was kind of a faux
01:03:06
pas because basically you saying, yeah, so when your daddy
01:03:08
is dead, you become the king. You know, again, Dunk doesn't.
01:03:13
I don't think Dunk understands these kind of protocols because
01:03:16
when he talks to Makor, he was like, I hope your sons are found
01:03:20
and they're not dead. He's only going by what the
01:03:22
other girl said, that apparently everybody's like, oh, they might
01:03:25
be dead by now. He wasn't doing it to be mean.
01:03:28
He wasn't doing it to be, you know, stupid.
01:03:32
He just, he said again, he's honest to a fault.
01:03:36
Yeah. He he basically was like, I hope
01:03:38
your sons are OK and then they're safe.
01:03:41
You know, Yeah, he could have said it that way, but I hope
01:03:45
they're not dead. I mean, that is the hope, right?
01:03:48
Right. So, yeah.
01:03:51
But yeah, Baylor, I I like him because he, again, he was
01:03:55
another person who treated Dunk like a person.
01:03:58
Yeah, treated him with respect and it cost him nothing.
01:04:03
He's still, he's still the Prince.
01:04:05
He's still the Crown Prince and everybody.
01:04:07
'S still respected. So yeah, I I think I like his
01:04:13
character, but, you know, he is a Targaryen.
01:04:16
We'll see. I mean we like, I mean I.
01:04:20
Feel like the Sarah's other than him not choosing to do what he
01:04:25
said in motion and and not being, you know, that was his
01:04:29
flaw. But he was still a good man all
01:04:32
the way to the end. He was just trying to keep the
01:04:34
peace, you know what I mean? He wasn't a bad king.
01:04:36
So it's like hard to imagine that all the Targaryens aren't
01:04:40
trash, but then there's some that are just not.
01:04:45
Yeah, some of them are. I mean, think about it, even
01:04:48
though there, I know there's a lot of debate about this and,
01:04:52
you know, I've kind of gone back and forth, but even with
01:04:55
Daenerys, Daenerys was a good person all the way up until
01:05:00
Cersei cut her best friend's head off.
01:05:03
It was like, yeah, I'm gonna make you.
01:05:05
I'm gonna make you kneel. I'm at this point I think
01:05:10
Daenerys was just kind of like, OK, you know what?
01:05:13
I'm done with all this. I'm done with all this.
01:05:15
Like they told me to burn it all down.
01:05:17
I don't. Think that was quite what?
01:05:19
She meant Daenerys, but you. Know we can save this discussion
01:05:25
for another time, because I will disagree with you there.
01:05:28
The nurse has always been that way from the very beginning.
01:05:33
No, no, no. And I'm not, I'm not saying.
01:05:35
That she. Didn't have that potential.
01:05:36
But her, her initial heart, she wanted to stop.
01:05:45
She wanted to break the wheel. She wanted to stop the way the
01:05:48
Targaryens had been doing things.
01:05:50
She didn't want to be that same kind of cruel ruler.
01:05:53
And I think, I think part of her nature was that.
01:05:57
That was. Part of her I'm.
01:05:58
A disagreement against it, but we.
01:06:00
Can. We can.
01:06:01
We can do another. Time, that'll be a different
01:06:04
conversation, but. You have this discussion.
01:06:07
Never thought her personality was definitely a little
01:06:11
different and the things she went through was a little
01:06:13
different. Book versus show, Yeah.
01:06:17
She's more like her dad than she was in the.
01:06:20
Show. Yeah, yeah.
01:06:22
So I think that I think that's also part like they tried to
01:06:25
create this character that was always, always the victim,
01:06:33
always clawed her way out of something, always somebody's
01:06:36
coming after her, attacking her in the show to make people, you
01:06:41
know, and then they gave her Dragons of all things to make
01:06:43
people like her more. Because when I was reading the
01:06:46
books, I wasn't really impressed by Danny that much.
01:06:49
It wasn't like it was in the in the show.
01:06:52
I was saying. Yeah.
01:06:53
Yeah, but in the show, even early on, they gave you clues
01:06:56
that she was willing to do whatever it took to get her way.
01:07:00
Yeah. So burn people alive.
01:07:05
That always work for Targaryens. It worked for.
01:07:08
Her, I mean, that's how they conquered Westeros, which they
01:07:12
need to go on and make that because I'm excited, although I
01:07:17
don't know about this, this brother, sister, love that's
01:07:18
about to happen, but I'm excited about the ref.
01:07:20
Oh, you said about Aegon's Conquest.
01:07:25
Brothers, Sisters. Yeah.
01:07:27
Sisters. Yeah, they.
01:07:29
Had two sister wives, so yeah. But yeah.
01:07:34
But going going back to Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
01:07:42
So yeah, episode 3 that's coming up.
01:07:45
I'm pretty sure we're going to. We should see some action with
01:07:51
Dunk there. There's some things that's going
01:07:56
to happen in between then. So I don't know if we're going
01:07:59
to actually see him do the list or do any fighting in the third
01:08:03
episode. They may wait until the 4th
01:08:04
episode, but I have a feeling some big stuff is about to
01:08:07
happen in episode 3. And I mean, we only have 6
01:08:10
episodes. So it's not like they, they have
01:08:15
room to draw stuff out like you say, Anthony, they are, they're
01:08:18
moving very fast-paced. The story in the book is very
01:08:21
kind of fast-paced. There's a lot more description
01:08:24
in the book. But again, if you're if you're
01:08:28
kind of familiar with the Game of Thrones universe, the the
01:08:31
media universe, the TV universe, then a lot of that stuff that
01:08:35
they described in the book. I don't think they have to go
01:08:38
into the big drawn out discussions in the show because
01:08:43
they've been giving us like even with the description of how the
01:08:47
list work, even though they're not giving us the one, you know,
01:08:50
long drawn out explanation, they're giving us bits and
01:08:55
pieces here and there, you know, so I think we'll get all of the
01:08:59
information that we need to get without it being over done.
01:09:06
And and they're focusing on the the important stuff, which is I,
01:09:11
I know is about to happen with the the Targaryen stuff.
01:09:15
So, yeah. But did we miss anything?
01:09:23
I think we got everything because again, it's the episode
01:09:27
was only 3434. Yeah, it wasn't super long.
01:09:30
One of the things they did talk about, the Prince did tell him,
01:09:33
was that because he was not Arlen's natural born son, he
01:09:36
would have to have his own sigil and his own shield and whatever
01:09:41
design, whatever. And I, I think that's
01:09:43
interesting that like he technically was that man's son.
01:09:48
They're like, no, you have to be natural born.
01:09:51
I'm like. And who would know?
01:09:52
He could have just been like, yeah.
01:09:55
Yeah. I was his son, but he's so.
01:09:58
Honest. He didn't know the lie, you know
01:10:01
so. But also, I think The thing is
01:10:04
too, he makes a point when he's talking about Sir Arlen in the
01:10:10
beginning, he tells one of the Lords that he's speaking to that
01:10:16
Sir Arlen never married, never had children.
01:10:20
Oh yeah, that's. True.
01:10:21
So it's kind of like, I also feel like if he would have lied
01:10:26
and said, yes, that was my father, enough people would have
01:10:30
remembered Sir Arlen by that point to be like, oh, but he
01:10:32
didn't have no children. You.
01:10:35
Know what I'm saying? I feel like it that would have
01:10:38
been one of those type things because people always this,
01:10:42
they're always dismissive of things that they don't remember
01:10:45
things until it's something that may have a direct impact on
01:10:50
them. And then all of a sudden all
01:10:52
your memory is working fine. You know, like what harm would
01:10:56
it have been for y'all to be like, OK, yeah, I remember your
01:11:00
your master. You can you can go be in the
01:11:02
list because of all of y'all think the way that y'all treat
01:11:06
him, y'all think he big and dumb.
01:11:07
Anyway, y'all walking around half threatening him.
01:11:11
So you don't think he's going to be a threat?
01:11:13
Let's go on the list. Chances are y'all going to knock
01:11:16
him off his horse and he's going to be done.
01:11:18
What harm would that do? Really.
01:11:21
Yeah. You know, but I, I don't know, I
01:11:24
feel like I don't know, there, there's something about the way
01:11:28
that they're treating him. It's kind of like, yeah, I
01:11:30
remember this dude, but I'm not going, I'm not going to give you
01:11:33
the satisfaction of it. It's almost like, yeah, I'm
01:11:36
going to put you in your place. And I just, I don't like that.
01:11:40
Like what harm would it be for y'all to let this man fight?
01:11:45
And the list? A lot of harm.
01:11:48
He he could win. But but I.
01:11:51
Know and I and I get. That, and that's why I'm saying
01:11:54
I feel like that's why they've been going around, like because
01:11:58
you're being very specific with what you're telling these
01:12:02
people. House Florence, Sir Arlen served
01:12:05
in the guard when your father lost his sight.
01:12:09
House Hayford, he fought with you at the he fought with, he
01:12:13
fought with your brothers at the Red Grass.
01:12:16
He lost his nephew in battle. How's Tyrell?
01:12:19
You were you not your father, your brother?
01:12:24
You specifically were the one who told him that hedge Knights
01:12:31
are the bridge between Lords and the small folk.
01:12:34
You told him that. You mean to tell me that you
01:12:36
don't remember telling somebody that?
01:12:38
Like, that's a very specific piece of information to tell
01:12:41
somebody. And even the way he was looking
01:12:44
at dumb when he said it, it was kind of like, yeah, I remember
01:12:47
that, but I'm not going to admit to that shit.
01:12:49
Like, y'all are just being assholes just to be assholes.
01:12:53
And yeah, it's probably because you feel like, OK, yeah, this
01:12:56
guy is big and dumb, but he could probably beat us.
01:12:59
Yep, basically. But had he said something like,
01:13:02
yes Sir, Arla was my father. No, he wasn't.
01:13:06
We know Sir. Arlene didn't have any chill.
01:13:07
Well, how? How do you know that?
01:13:09
But you didn't remember him when I told him what he specifically
01:13:12
did for you? That's just kind of how I feel
01:13:14
like they're doing. Like they know him.
01:13:16
They just want to be assholes. They just want to be difficult.
01:13:19
They don't want to be yeah to anything or anyone.
01:13:22
But that's OK, because I hope Dunk goes out there and beats
01:13:24
all they ask. Yeah.
01:13:29
Even the Targaryens. I will.
01:13:32
Say that that, but Baylor. Oh my God, these names.
01:13:36
Velar he. That was he was rocking that
01:13:39
Targaryen black with the. Yeah, looking right.
01:13:42
I was like, OK, I like that. But you notice it was
01:13:45
interesting too. He was brown haired.
01:13:48
Yes, yes, another one. I was like, look, I know what
01:13:52
side. Of the tree you came from.
01:13:55
Yep. Maybe.
01:13:58
Maybe there was some Baratheon mixture.
01:14:00
Let. Oh, that's what we should look
01:14:01
up and see. It's probably another Baratheon
01:14:03
because wasn't Emma. Emma was a Baratheon too, wasn't
01:14:06
she? Vernier's mom.
01:14:11
Yes, she was a Baratheon Targaryen mix, Yes.
01:14:15
And I do know that one. Yeah.
01:14:16
Somebody on that, somebody on one of those trees.
01:14:19
They married. They married another Baratheon.
01:14:22
So yeah. Well, Robert's Grant, Robert's
01:14:26
grandmother was Targaryen. Oh, Yep, Yep.
01:14:30
So. Yep.
01:14:31
So this is all yeah, Aegon the First, his half brother was was
01:14:36
a bastard. Oh yeah, because that's the
01:14:40
other thing we got to take into account, like the bastards.
01:14:42
And you know what Anthony was talking about, you know, with
01:14:47
the, the rebellions, the black fires and the yeah, they, they
01:14:52
had masters who were legitimized.
01:14:54
So yeah, that's just that that that family tree is just so
01:15:01
complicated. So crazy, So crazy.
01:15:05
And not all of them marry inside the family, Yeah.
01:15:12
Yeah. That's how they were able to.
01:15:14
That's how they were able to to kind of work there.
01:15:18
Aegon worked out this tree with Doran was the Prince of Doran
01:15:23
mayor the Targaryen. Yeah.
01:15:26
Princess. So yeah, whatever.
01:15:28
OK, Brown hair might pop up considering their ancestors, you
01:15:34
know. Yeah, yeah.
01:15:36
Thanks to the nearest. Yeah, but I don't know, Do you
01:15:44
guys have anything final to say about this episode?
01:15:46
Wrong Bloodlines. Yeah, yeah, I'm.
01:15:52
Just I think. It was really good for the short
01:15:55
little time we. Had it?
01:15:57
Shall we get longer than 34 minutes please like.
01:16:01
Like I said, I like it. I like your short.
01:16:04
I like it like this. Keep it short to the point it.
01:16:07
I guess it's just. There isn't a lot of there isn't
01:16:09
a lot of world building needing to be done.
01:16:12
We're in one place. All the story is taking place in
01:16:15
this one location that is. True.
01:16:18
We just have a few characters you got to get to know.
01:16:21
But I think it's, it's because the pacing does work so well.
01:16:24
It's like by the time I'm like, really, really into the episode,
01:16:28
it's it's done. And it's just it, it's so sudden
01:16:32
and it's just kind of like, yeah, what?
01:16:34
Give me more. But you know, I feel like.
01:16:36
You can't wait until next week's episode, right?
01:16:39
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I, I was the same way with
01:16:43
the Percy Jackson series. I just finished watching season
01:16:46
2 of that and like those are also like 30-30 ish minute
01:16:50
episodes and I was just kind of like, wait, we're done.
01:16:52
What? So yeah, I mean, I guess I could
01:16:56
get used to a 30 minute episode. I just I want more I.
01:17:00
Is is this season supposed to be the first novel just period or
01:17:04
they think so? It's the first novella, The
01:17:06
Hedge. Night, yeah, the hedge night.
01:17:09
So OK, well I guess I'm going to get off here and go look at the
01:17:16
trailer for episode 3 and prepare for that.
01:17:20
But for now, that is it for our show.
