I’m going back to…Dragon Con

dragonscifipartylinelogo_black2016Dragon Con is just over TWO WEEKS AWAY and I am starting to feel excited. Once again, I will get to represent Sci-Fi Party Line as media. I will also be sitting on a few panels and for the first time, I get to be a judge for a costume contest! Bring it on!

As of right now, I will be sitting on two panels each from the American SF & Fantasy Media and YA Lit Tracks. This is the information I have so far; I will continue to update this post as new information comes about (dates/times are subject to change):

My thoughts during the season 6 finale for “Game of Thrones”

12998274_10154088197344524_2803185125589195978_oThis is what my Twitter feed would have looked like, had I actually been able to live tweet tonight (which I can’t, because I learned last week that my ability to multi-task in non-existent when Game of Thrones is on).

  • I am actually terrified of what is going to happen in this episode. Who is going to die?
  • I love how they start off the “previously on”…there’s no better sight than seeing the Stark banners go up again in Winterfell
  • So I guess we’ll see Dorne in this episode…at this point, do we really care about Dorne anymore?

Spoilers below.

Sci-Fi Party Line #222: Game of Thrones – SHAME!!

cersei-must-atone-for-her-sins-by-takingIn this extreme talkfest, Cat, Carl, Eric and I have a very lengthy recap and discussion on the emotionally heavy and shocking season 5 finale of Game of Thrones. Anything you probably ever wanted to know about how we feel about GoT, you’ll find it in the (almost) three hour show. NOTE: There were some audio issues during this podcast due to crappy weather/internet connectivity issues.

Dragon Con announces Game of Thrones guests for Labor Day Weekend

Game of Thrones' Kristian Nairn has been confirmed to attend Dragon Con 2015.

Game of Thrones’ Kristian Nairn has been confirmed to attend Dragon Con 2015.

On the heels of that devastating season finale last night, it seems that some of the citizens of Westeros will make an appearance in Atlanta this September.

The Official Dragon Con Facebook page posted this teaser on their page earlier this afternoon:

For those who watched the Season Finale last night, what was your reaction in one word?

Perhaps a few cast members will want to talk about it when they join us for #DragonCon2015!

About an hour later, they announced that Kristian Nairn has been confirmed for the event. Naim plays the loveable Hodor on the show. Hodor, who is the verbally challenged travelling companion of Bran Stark, has been missing from this season due to the show placing a hiatus on Bran’s story (since they reached the end of book-Bran’s arc at the end of Season 4). Aside from his work on Thrones, Nairn is also a well-known DJ.

Also announced this afternoon is Finn Jones, who plays The Knight of Flowers, Loras Tyrell. Loras is the brother of Queen Margaery, and is currently a guest of the High Septon in the dungeons below the Red Keep in Westeros.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Finale: Mother’s Mercy (SPOILERS)

Kit Harington as Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones

Earlier this year, I had planned to begin adding recaps to this blog – just to be able to get out my thoughts on the shows that I watch in between recording episodes of the Sci-Fi Party Line Podcast. Unfortunately, my laptop had other plans and I have been without it for the past few months. However, tonight’s season finale episode of Game of Thrones was such a damn doozy that I had to borrow my daughter’s laptop just so I could get some of what I am feeling down. So, let’s get to it (and if you hadn’t already guessed, there be spoilers here).

The episode begins in the North. After the horrific event that took place in Stannis’ camp last week, we find the self-proclaimed King ready to take on Winterfell. Melisandre looks triumphant as she informs him that “the Lord of Light has made good on his promise” by melting the snow and making the weather favorable for them to move forward. She tries to be encouraging, but after sacrificing his daughter Shireen for these “good tidings”, Stannis is in no mood for small talk or good tidings. Melisandre tells him “you will receive what is yours by right.” In hindsight, those words were so appropriate…
