MoviePass is a monthly subscription service that allows users to go to the movies everyday for one low cost.

If you are a habitual movie-goer (or if you need an excuse to become one), you may want to check this out.

MoviePass is a subscription service for going to the movies – pay one fee a month and you can use the card to see one movie per day. It pays for itself in three visits! The benefits of this program are that you can see all major movies at all major theaters, and there are no blackout dates. The cons: you cannot see the same movie multiple times, and you can only use the pass to watch 2D movies; the company is apparently working to add options for 3D/IMAX films.

The process is simple: the MoviePass comes to you in the form of a Mastercard debit card. You must download the smartphone app in order to use. When you get to the theater (you must be within 100 feet of the theater for the app to work) you open up the app, choose which film/showtime you want to attend and enter it. The app will then tell you to go and purchase your ticket. I used my pass last night for the very first time (I went to see Mad Max: Fury Road) and it was incredibly simple to use.

Right now, you can try it free for two weeks. Afterwards, you will be billed monthly (anywhere from $25-$35/month depending on your location). If – like me – you plan to live in the theatres this summer (Pitch Perfect 2, Mad Max: Fury Road, Jurassic Park, Ted 2, Magic Mike XXL…you get the picture) then this may be a great, money-saving deal for you to try.
