Following the December reshoots of the epilogue scene of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, new casting information has been revealed regarding three characters who appear in the latter part of the book version of the series.
First, it was announced in early December that actress Kelly MacDonald has been cast to play the role of Helena Ravenclaw, the resident ghost of Ravenclaw house known as the “Grey Lady”. During the events leading up to the final battle, readers of “Deathly Hallows” found out the surprising backstory of Ms. Ravenclaw, and how her history connects with Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes. MacDonald is most recently known for the character of Margaret Schroeder on the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire”.
Casting has also been revealed for the roles of Young Severus Snape and Scorpius Malfoy; Young Severus will be played by 14-year old Benedict Clark in what is being reported as his first acting role. The casting of a younger Severus can mean that fans of the final book will get to see the flashback memories of Snape that finally give us a glimpse into the psyche of the man Potterphiles love to hate…or love.
Scorpius Malfoy – the son of Draco, will be played by 13-year old Bertie Gilbert. Readers were introduced to Scorpius briefly in the final chapter of the book when the adults – 19 years after the Final Battle at Hogwarts – take their own children to King’s Cross for their first year of school.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will be in theaters July 15, 2011.
