The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening date is announced

First things first: Universal Studios has announced the opening date for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! The park is scheduled to open on June 18, 2010. Eric Scull, a staffer for popular fansite Mugglenet, has posted a report from his tour of the park, which can be found here.

Emma Thompson confirms return as Trelawney for Deathly Hallows

Mugglenet has also reported that Emma Thompson will indeed return to the Potter set to reprise her role as Professor Sybil Trelawney. Ms. Thompson has confirmed that she has already filmed her scenes for the 7th/8th installments of the franchise, which are due in theaters on November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011, respectively.

Scholastic Books announce The Real World of Harry Potter sweepstakes

Scholastic Books has announced a contest for “The Real World of Harry Potter”, in which kids ages 7-14 can enter to win an all expense paid trip for four to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The grand prizes include:

  • Roundtrip airfare
  • Ground transfers to/from airport in Orlando
  • 3 nights at an on-site hotel
  • 3-day/2-park admission to both Universal Orlando theme parks
