Ok people, here is your time to weigh in. As much as I love movies, I don’t get to the theaters nearly as much as I want to, and I realize that I have missed some gems. At the same time, I also realize that there are some others that are not as widely known or popular, but that are well liked anyway; for example, I know that it would never have received an Academy Award, but I absolutely love the campiness of Starship Troopers 🙂
So here’s the deal: I want to know what movies are your favorites, so I can start up my own “Movie to See Before I Die” list. It can be anything: classic, sci-fi, Disney, whatever. But I will make this disclaimer: I don’t do a lot of slasher/horror flicks.
Ready, set, GO!
I always love these types of questions. I love movies, lists, and ranking things.
My ranking may be a little off. I sometimes wonder if an A+ is too high a grade for Under the Tuscan Sun, I’m tempted to rank The Blind Side even higher after seeing it again, and it’s been so long since I’ve seen A Bug’s Life, I wonder if it really is as good as I remember or if I should have Wall-E and/or Cars higher. But, for now, this is the list of my top 25 favorite movies:
01. (A+) Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
02. (A+) The American President
03. (A+) Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
04. (A+) Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
05. (A+) Braveheart
06. (A+) The Shawshank Redemption
07. (A+) Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
08. (A+) Rounders
09. (A+) Under the Tuscan Sun
10. (A) The Dark Knight
11. (A) Finding Nemo
12. (A) Ocean’s 11
13. (A) Star Trek
14. (A-) Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
15. (A-) Spider-Man 2
16. (A-) Iron Man
17. (A-) Star Trek: First Contact
18. (A-) Ocean’s 13
19. (A-) Muppet Christmas Carol
20. (A-) The Blind Side
21. (A-) Back to the Future III
22. (A-) The Thomas Crown Affair
23. (A-) Batman Begins
24. (A-) Love Actually
25. (A-) A Bug’s Life
You’ve got a pretty good list. #6 is my all-time favorite movie, and I’ve seen #’s 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25.
I’ve never seen the LOTR trilogy, because every. single. time I try to watch it, I always get interrupted. But my friend let me borrow all three of her special extended version DVDs, so I should be fixing that problem soon.
The others on your list are all movies I’ve wanted to see, just haven’t had a chance. But they are a good place to start!
