Early review of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"

For those of you who were not aware, Black Curtain Screenings and Myspace.com hosted an Early Screening of OOTP in several U.S. cities tonight. I was able to get into the Atlanta screening. I will post a couple of thoughts here (NO SPOILERS).

* The movie was AWESOME. Yes, they took out a few storylines and altered a few others, but overall they did an excellent job condensing an 873 page book into a 2 1/2 hour movie.

* For the people who do not like Sir Michael Gambon’s portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in PoA, and especially GoF, he redeemed himself (in my eyes) in this movie.

* “The kiss” was definitely worth all the hype.

* If you have the chance to see the film in IMAX, then do so. I will not view it in IMAX until the 12th, but if the Battle in the Ministry looks that awesome on regular screen, it is sure to be AWESOME in 3-D!!

One negative is that we did not get to see much of the African-American characters Dean Thomas and Kingsley Shacklebolt. But their brief time on the screen was not wasted.

For die hard Potter fans, it is definitely the movie to see this summer.

Edit: I will write a longer review once the movie has actually been released. 🙂
